Dorsey apparently still not in the clear.

How does that work?  So coaches are interviewing directly with the owners?  If that's the case I bet Dorsey is pulling for a McVince hire.  What a jacked up scenario.

Not sure if this belongs in Vikings suck or here, but interesting nugget from Charles Robinson. He has a whole thread of black Monday thoughts.

So if the Browns cut Dorsey loose what does that mean for Eliot Wolf, and Alonzo Highsmith?   Could there be an opening on the Packers for them?

You have to wonder with Wolf JR why he hasn't landed a GM spot. He was passed up with the most obvious employer he could have in GB and you really don't hear his name being mentioned much. I think Highsmith has some good accomplishments on his resume but it's pretty curious to me that Eliot just hasn't made the jump.

Which explains exactly why he gave all his starters a nice "bye" vs. the Bears.

Zim's entire head coaching career is probably on the line here. He can definitely get a DC job if he wants it. But his HC days could be over without an excellent showing in New Orleans.

By that I mean, winning or losing on a last second FG, I would consider a good showing.

ABC is reporting that the Cokeboys coaching staff has been fired

Interestingly, Jason Garrett has not been fired. His contract ends middle of January I believe. Jerry Jones thing to do is just let the contract run out so he doesn't have a termination on his resume? LOL....funny.

Real interest or covering the Rooney rule? Does he actually get to call plays there or is Reid running the offense?

...and this is why the Rooney rule sucks donkey balls.   It just got questioned if this guy is only getting a interview because of his skin color.

Not attacking you, just saying it sucks.

"Hey Mike, your future is tied to Kirk Cousins having a big performance in a big game."

What could possibly go wrong?

I mean I've heard his name brought up before after Mahommies and the KC offense blew up last year but is that him or Reid? Just wondering if he's running the offense or is he more of a Sherm Lewis under Holmgren?

FWIW from P Kings column today,

One other offensive coach is an interesting case tooβ€”Kansas City coordinator Eric Bieniemy. He reminds me of something Bill Parcells told me last year, when teams were hiring lots of young offensive coaches without years of experience. Bieniemy has been an assistant in college and pro football for 21 years, and Andy Reid says he’s one of the best leaders on any staff he’s had. Bieniemy does something unique for Reid: He memorizes the offensive play sheet each week. The Chiefs call plays from Reid to Bieniemy, and Bieniemy calls them into Patrick Mahomes. On my podcast this week (dropping Wednesday), Bieniemy told me why he does it. β€œIt takes a lot of time,” he said. β€œBut at the end of the day, I want to make sure I am accountable to the entire coaching staff and to the entire organization. My job is to have the ability to spit those plays out and know everything about them, inside and out. I’m always talking to our players about the importance of taking work home. It’s my job to have a completed understanding of everything that’s on that call sheet.”

β€œI’ve been dreaming about this opportunity [to be a head coach] all my life,” he said. β€œI feel that I am ready. You want to make sure . . . that people can see how you command a room, how you approach the day-to-day business, how you command everything that’s taking place within that building, how you deal with people, how you handle each situation that comes up.” Bieniemy is another guy who should talk to multiple teams.

When has appearing on Hard Knocks ever worked out for the team the following year or two?   Cleveland is just the latest in a long line of teams that got built up only to fail miserably.

If you are a head coach or GM why would you ever think you can change the culture of a team when the owner is a micromanaging idiot?   Haslem, Synderbrenner, Jerruh to name a few.

Memo to those candidates interested in Cleveland - when you have changed out the coach or GM about a dozen times in as many years you might want to steer clear of those opportunities.  This is why I seriously question the intelligence of guys like Highsmith and Dorsey and Wolf.  I mean, did they think this would turn out any differently?

Yo Ron Rivera - good luck in Washington. Better luck trying to find a GM now that Synderbrenner hand picked the HC.  You may have been a highly successful businessman and maybe even feature a smoke show wife but your football acumen and self awareness is atrocious.   The same as it ever was.

Then there is Dallass.  Of course they will retain Garrett. Jerruh can treat him like a lap dog. Who gives a shit about winning.   That’s secondary to Jerruh and his postgame pressers like he’s a star player or the goddamn coach.  What a debacle.

Thank God the Packers hired Gute and MLF.
