Step 1 to acquiring Aaron Rodgers.

John Elway is just enough of a simp to do that.
@Goalline posted:John Elway is just enough of a simp to do that.
It worked for him before with Payton Manning and that required the Colts to know they had Andrew Luck coming in or Manning would have never been available.
Manning going to the Broncos and Brady going to the Bucs involved no trades - they were straight-up free agents so the team could build around them with draft picks.
Rodgers leaving will involve multiple high draft picks and probably another good player or two. They pick 9th in 2022 and have an extra second-rounder from the Von Miller trade.
@PackerHawk posted:Step 1 to acquiring Aaron Rodgers.
Exactly. If Hackett goes there, I believe Rodgers request a trade.
That is what some might consider a leap.
What has Hackett done that would make Rodgers follow him anywhere?
As much as MLF had done or possibly more before MLF came to Green Bay. I know Rodgers has been quoted before as saying that he hopes Hackett never leaves unless Hackett brings him with him or something close to that.
Rodgers is a big fan of Hackett. AR also speaks very highly of Getsy.

My wife says I never listen to her. Or something like that.
If the Broncos wanted to go next level they could hire Alex Van Pelt as their HC. Then they lure Rodgers for sure.
If the broncos wanted to lure AR, they'd have kept Fangio as the DC and brought in Hackett. Rodgers knows that he can handle the offensive side of the ball - but the defense is the key to his next ring and the broncos just fired one of the best
While Broncos ownership status is in flux, ours is in good hands.
He ainβt going anywhere.

We're going to need every bit of it if he leaves.
According to lineups.com the Dolphins have the number 5 ranked special teams in 2021. With Brian Flores being fired they may hold onto their assistants until they hire a new coach. Best case, That will give Pack time to win the Super Bowl and scoop up Dolphins special-teams coordinator when he is cut loose.
BIO: Danny Crossman enters his 19th season as an NFL coach and third as special teams coordinator with the Dolphins. He was promoted to assistant head coach in 2021.
Heard on a couple of different sports radio shows as I was driving today.
1. Flores was fired due to conflicts with the GM and Tua. NFL pecking order of GM, star player and then head coach.
2. Dave Gettleman retired from the Giants. The new GM could fire Joe Judge unless he is ordered not to by ownership. But why would he take the job then?
Flores will have a shot with a good team in the future. This may end up being very good for him. Sit tight spend the Dolphins money and choose wisely.
@ilcuqui posted:Giants keeping Joe Judge. Unbelievable. The guy is so over his head and is utterly toxic.
John Mara seems determined to drive that franchise into the ground.
With Gettleman renegotiating his buyout in exchange for not having to be "fired" retiring I would think that the next GM would have the decision on what to do with that meathead.
Unless Failson Mara puts a "no firing Judge" mandate as part of accepting the GM role, in which case no one worth a shit takes that job...
Pace?

I heard an interesting proposition today. The Texans hire Flores and Watson decides to stay there to play for Flores.

There's a reason teams give up large packages of picks for proven winning QBs (or even guys like Wentz and Stafford). My guess is that if we get a bunch of picks for Rodgers leaving we will either eventually have to use a bunch of picks to get a QB or tank enough to get a high draft pick.
It will be interesting how Hackett's possible departure plays into AR's plans. If NH leaves, will AR get input into the new OC?
The #Broncos requested an interview with #Packers QB coach/pass game coordinator Luke Getsy for their head coaching job, per source.
β Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) January 11, 2022
Itβs the first request for the 37-year-old Getsy, a valued member of Matt LaFleur's staff who many regard as a future head coach.
Speaking of Luke Getsy....
Bears also put in a request to interview Hackett.
Per source, the Broncos are interviewing Shailene Woodley, Miles Teller, Dr. Joe Rogan, James Campen, Pat McAfee, the boys, and Mason Crosby for their head coaching vacancy.

After his surprise dismissal Monday, Flores is expected to be hot in this cycle. Chicago gets the first confirmed interview.
The Chicago news says diversity is a priority for the Bears head coach and GM.
Diversity in terms of both ability and lack of ability?
Nice read on Getsy...
Doug Pederson is scheduling interview with Bears and will end up interviewing with the Vikings and Broncos as well. Already met with Jacksonville

Good. It's always smart business to reduce your applicant pool to a small portion of society.
I hope none of these donuts hire Bienemy...he's the only guy I worry about being any good.

I would think that winning would be the priority for both positions.
But what do I know?

I haven't followed the latest saga around Watson in a while but isn't he under investigation for his actions with massage therapists? I believe that is the main reason the Texans didn't play/activate him all year.
