Building your team around your franchise QB is not a mistake. The mistake they have made has been in the transition from a RB centered offense to a balanced offense. They've increased their passing attempts each of the last two seasons, but haven't worked to build an OL that can pass protect. They got Jimmy Graham, which was good, but they still have a lot more to do if they want to give their QB the best possible situation to thrive in.

Agreed, though they're not a line very good at run blocking either. They cobbled (Cabled?) that together when they had Okung and Unger as anchors, but now? Oy vay! I can understand not feeling an O-lineman was worth a draft slot and/or having confidence in Tom Cable but sign a free agent, make a trade, do something. I know Wilson is extremely mobile and good at avoiding hits also, but that's just silliness, IMO.

Wilson's mobility and skill at avoiding hits was better when the OL was better and Lynch was the RB. I recall he took more than his share of hits last year when on the move, and didn't he have an ankle issue for a while from a tackle on a scramble or roll-out?

Exactly. A very good (great?) O-line coach and a mobile QB only goes so far in the N(ot)F(or)L(ong).

Hypothetical.  How many people here (myself included) would **** themselves if TT signed Lynch and traded for Sherman?

I would then gaze skyward to look for the speeding meteor about the hit the planet.

They can't just "sign" Lynch, he still belongs to the 'hags

The Seahawks would have to release him if he forced the issue. His cap number would be 9 mil and they barely have enough cap room to cover their rookies. It's in their best interest just to release him when he finds a home. His salary makes a trade unlikely.

Hence the word hypothetical, it's a generalization.   So both of you and The Wizard's lawyer can cool your tits.

So, in other words, GB can trade for Sherman if they throw in Lynch, 2 draft picks, and a pint of Seattle rain water?

Aginn posted an article earlier that MM hated Thompson because they were always among the leagues youngest teams.  He probably posted that TT either didn't spend enough, or spent too much of the salary cap.  If his motivation is to create division in GB, the Packer organization should push back - and there are ways they can do that.   I still doubt he talked to anyone.  BBB (big, bad, bob) post this stuff aginn, aginn, and aginn.  He is just a broken record - if any of you remember what they were.

I read that the other day, much ado about nothing. No coach wants to lose 2 All-Pro players they've been with for 8+ years and start over with young guys. Coaches and front office personnel probably clash on these all the time, coaches want to keep "their guys" and the front office looks at players from a big picture standpoint.

I read A LOT of JSO stuff. But I refuse to click on and read or listen to anything with that dorky dimwit Nagler's name or face on it. Dude was laughed off this very forum for being an asswipe (if I recall correctly), and to me he has zero credibility. Plus, try to look at least somewhat professional, instead of going for the I live in moms basement look.

What was his name on here?

Wasn't that he was an asswipe, he had and has terrible takes.

Yeah if being an a**hole was a disqualifier for being on X4 I think it would just be Oshbaul talking to himself. Nagler had terrible opinions and couldn't back his BS up. It wasn't even on X4 either, he can't handle it on Twitter. He was all over me because I disagreed with his take on Teddy Bridgewater being able to start and be a successful QB right away. I merely told him I think Teddy had the mental makeup, but needed to spend a couple years developing physically because he was built like a small/medium WR. Nagler had a good meltdown about that and brought in one of his other "draft expert" friends who basically agreed with me in the end. Nagler didn't last long at X4.

I think his username was AaronNagler, but I can't find that anywhere.

Nagler went by Aaronstory. Satori, Henry, CA95 were a few that simply eviscerated the guy.

By the time his short run on X4 was wrapping up he was being referred to as Prove Me Wrong!

Evans fills one need for the short term.  He was a 6 time pro-bowler.  Played 11 years with the Saints.  He should be able to man the position until we develop a younger guy.  The guard position in the draft just moved back several rounds or so.

Interesting signing.  Could be a nice stop gap, or could be Jeff Saturday 2.0.  I'm leaning toward stop gap but old age catches up quick.  More than anything, at least we're not relying on a player who has never played a snap in the NFL.

If there's one thing that keeps me from getting too excited about the Evans signing, it's that he was in Seattle's training camp last year and was cut.  That Seattle OL was horrible and he couldn't make it there.  You never know, there can be lots of reasons things don't quite work out and it sounds like he did an okay job when he re-joined the Saints after the Hags cut him.  The Pack definitely needed some competition for that spot, so at worst, he probably gets a very long look from the Pack.
