I should have clarified. Adams may be a #1 but we need a #1 or 1B that stresses the boundary and S a little more.
I think Adams is a legit #1 that can play any position and do anything you need him to. He's not Julio Jones, but I think he's easily a top 10 WR in the league. Cobb is still a top 10 SR IMO. Allison is another guy that doesn't have high end speed, but he's savvy and creates separation. We could use a Brandin Cooks type deep threat, but that guy doesn't have to come from round 1 or 2. 8 out of the 10 players that led the league in yards/catch with over 20 rec in 2017 were drafted in round 3 or later. Only Brandin Cooks (9) and OJ Howard (10) were drafted before round 3.
Davante Adams has vastly improved from what he was 2 years ago, but I'm not convinced that he's top 10 worthy. I still see him drop a pass or 2 more than I'd like to put him in that category. Maybe I'm just too harsh a judge and he really is a top 10 guy, but when I think of a top 10 guy I think of Jordy Nelson from 2014. He was more than just top 10, probably top 5 at that time.
No way the first pick is a WR, much less Ridley.
Second round, maybe. I think we go DB, DB, OL with the first three
I agree, I could see WR in second round, possibly Moore from Maryland.
When you have the best QB the game has ever seen, the WR problem isn't really a problem. Arod can throw guys open.
I can see a TE coming off the board before a WR. Hard to believe the emphasis isn't on DB's, OL, and a linebacker.
Maybe a punter in the third round, Gute is still a wildcard
Have been pretty spoiled with Jordy, Jennings, Driver, James Jones, Randall Cobb, Davante, etc....time to re-stock as the WR position has dropped off. (Never mind if Michael Clark becomes the phenom insiders are projecting)
Would not want to see Ridley with the D1 either. Some good WR to be had later.
D in round 1. Preferrably another CMIII

It's always hard to rank these guys with Favre and Rodgers throwing passes to them. Adams does remind me of a poor man's Sterling Sharpe.
Adams wins a large share of 50/50 balls thrown his way. A big part of Rodger's trust with him.
At 14, unless one of the top QB's falls, they will get a starter. I'd not be surprised if the pick is McGlinchey.
Graham was a big help to Adams because of Rodgers with a nod to Philbin. No one gets open alone other than a Kardashian.
I’d say WR is a need even before injury season starts. Davante in particular can’t take too many more shots to the head.
Here’s one for Rd 2: Equanimeous St.Brown, WR Norte Dame.
6’5” and ran a 4.48. Walter has him ranked #3 for WR prospects behind Calvin Ridley and Courtland Sutton.

I'd be very wary of taking a guy who only caught 22 passes last year in college in the second round. Could be the classic "looks like Tarzan / plays like Jane".
That depends mightily on who his QB was. LSU, for example, has a pretty good track record of guys being better pros because they get with a QB who has a modicum of accuracy.
I don't think WR in RD1 is a good idea either but they need a top 100 guy. Who have consistently been our top 2 guys? Top 100 picks and Adams is the only one we've had since 2011. Not a coincidence.
Did Randall Cobb make top 100 in June 2015. After his excellent 2014 season?
Top 100 draft picks, boss.

I would hope LB would fall in there. Considering both Matthews' and Perry's contracts the only way to find an impact rusher would be drafting in the first two rounds. Relying on Kyler Bradford and Vince Abberderis doesn't appeal to me.

I'm not sure St. Brown is second round talent, but as someone who follows ND pretty closely, his mark of 22 receptions is more of an indictment of his QB, Brandon Wimbush, who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.
For me I dont really care if they go DB in the first round, edge, or OLB all I want is someone who will make plays. As for WR, I think you can find value in later rounds because as someone said earlier when you have #12 throwing the ball he will find you and I think you can look for that position later.
OL is the interesting one for me. Do they like their talent on the roster currently or will they spend a pick there? I would bet they go OL in the 3rd or 4th round.

Cobb was drafted in round 2 in 2011, yes? So that's 2 WR's then.
Jordy is gone now. Your point is valid. Need a #1 WR. Hopefully Geronimo can improve or we can get lucky & acquire an Antonio Brown in round 5 😁

That's a fine strategy but you have to ask whether or not you want AR to maximize his talents. The AR-O has been most effective (2011:87, 85, 89; 2014: 87, 18, 17) with top 100 draft picks at WR1, 2 and even 3. It has struggled most with 87, 89, 18 or 17 on the sideline. We can "get by" with later round receivers or we can dominate with higher end guys, usually found in higher rounds. I think they just need one more of those guys to get back to an elite level.
Graham and a real running game are the wild cards here in that they may help throw gas on the passing game fire, allowing us to excel with 17 and 18. But even 2011 and 2014, along with 2 or more top WR's had either a strong running game (Lacy) or TE (Finley).

I just don't see Edwards or Smith falling to 14, or they are obvious choices in my book. I do see James or Ward being there at 14, so that works for me. My consensus boards don't see Jackson or Vander Esch as value picks at 14, but also don't see them lasting to 45.
I keep seeing Davenport thrown around as a top tier pick. Don't know anything about him, only draft fluff being blown around.
My consensus boards are not high on him, but as far as I know, he has not pooped in a closet
From the little bit I've read it sounds like he's a raw, unpolished pass rusher with athletic upside. I don't know if that's what GB needs right now, but in Gute I trust so if he takes him I feel confident they did their homework.
Yeah, watching Davenport at the Senior Bowl and combine, it seemed to reinforce that view. He's big, he's fast/athletic, but seemed to be bull, speed or bust. I'm intrigued by Edmunds and Vander Esch at OLB. They seem to have the skill set to really excel at the position and be more than a zone drop cover guy on occasion.
If Anthony Miller, WR Memphis is available at pick 101, sign me up. His bio reminds me a bit of DD #80.
Someone is going to drop to 14 that shouldn't drop to 14. NFL GMs in the top 15 every year are dumbasses.
I agree that this will be a crucial draft for Gutekunst and this draft has the talent level in the second tier to really help him have a great one! I am hoping, that as some say, every year a dumbass makes a pick I hope it is this year. I continue to hope that GB's preferred player is there at 14 (and who knows who that is) and it just seems either GB is feeling comfortable or they realize after the draft a few players will shake loose so I guess we will have to wait!
taking a look outside this thing, alot of these draft guys say 4 qb's are going in the top 10, that's silly to me, but hey, whatever...if that happens, and 2 or 3 of the 'untouchables' are picked, barkley, nelson, that leave us with some pretty good quality at 14...starting to shape up to be interesting. never had to think about the draft that way, since we always pick near the bottom - the more time that passes though, and these qb's ball at their pro-days, only improves the quality of pick for us.
While I don't see it, the other QB wildcard could be Lamar Jackson. I saw some more stuff yesterday that the Browns really like him, though I have a very hard time believing that.
As I mentioned in the Free Agent/Trade thread, Ronald Darby and Jason Verrett could be available on draft day, Verrett for likely a conditional pick.
If Gute goes BPA, no matter the position, at #14, Ridley may be the pick. Either Derwin James or Denzel Ward, but not both, may be available at our pick, as well.
Well, this is probably the most depressing title of an article I could have imagined this off-season: Packers will have to rely on draft to make run in 2018.
And in other news, we are tied with the 49ers in Super Bowl 53 odds after dropping from 9/1 after free agency. So that's something.
I eagerly await what undrafted free agents we sign to fill out our defense. Even though we have 12 lottery tickets this year, the odds of winning are never in your favor.
Just wait. We'll be a snake in the grass. Who thought the Eagles would win last year?

It's going to be an interesting draft. I suspect we'll need to move up to get the CBs we really want even though there should be 4 QBs taken in the top-10. Then it's just a waiting game on how they do with NFL timing and route defending.
On the offensive side it's simply about staying healthy again. Rodgers looked terrible in his short return, but he wasn't even close to 100%. Our red zone efficiency has a lot of potential this year.
Those trades up, if needed, should be less expensive because none if them are worth #14, IMO.
Don't need a #1 WO...Adams can fill that role. What we really need is a WO that can stretch a defense. I'm not talking about just a speed guy...NFL is loaded with them that can't catch a cold. And it doesn't have to be Devon Hester speed...someone like Gerg would work just fine.
