I used TDN and tried to think of how the draft could be useful, yet still have people scratching their heads Saturday morning. I also tried to stick as close to BPA as possible.

29. Joseph Ossai OLB Texas - You can never have too many pass rushers. Ossai can play situationally his rookie year rather than taking on the full load Day 1.

62. Jevon Holland S Oregon - He comes in to play the star position interchangeably with Savage in Nickel right away.

92. Michael Carter RB North Carolina - Here's the gadget guy and potential eventual heir/depth to Jones. Packers may keep four RBs on the roster and Jones, Dillon, Taylor and Carter would make an intriguing committee even as people try to figure out why Gutekunst drafted another RB with a premium pick. Plus, he was ranked higher than the corners, though Trill Williams, Rodarius Williams, Keith Taylor (as well as Alim McNeill) and a few others were tempting.

135. Osa Odighizuwea DL UCLA - All the corners I was looking at were gone. Odi is a lot like Mike Daniels in that he's a bit undersized, a former wrestler and plays hard consistently.

142. Ihmir Smith-Marsette WR Iowa - It's a deep class when guys in the 4th and 5th round seem to have this much potential. He also has return skills.

173. Patrick Johnson OLB Tulane - I think he has everything the Packers want in an OLB except ideal height. He's very versatile, as well, and would be a Special Teams asset.

178. Tay Gowan CB UCF - Sat out 2020 but has the skill set to be a very good corner, he just may need some time before playing heavy snaps. He kept up with Simi Fehoko a couple of years ago with little problem from what I remember.

214. Jaylon Moore OT Western Michigan - Athletic tackle who could probably play early, though needs to add strength as a run blocker.

220. Bobby Brown III DL Texas A&M - Maybe another Jerel Worthy, but taking a chance on traits at this points seems worth the risk. Johnathan Marshall from Arkansas was also a consideration. Really wanted another NT type like Tonga, but he was gone before the fifth-round picks.

256. Rachad Wildgoose CB Wisconsin - Worth a shot as a developmental guy since he has the athleticism and can also play Special Teams.

No ILB, no "needs" until Round 4, but a lot of athleticism, depth and special teams ability. Holland would compete with Sullivan day one for nickel duty, Carter and ISM  would be the return specialists, the D-line would still be a hodge-podge but on obvious passing downs they could have five viable pass rushers on the field.

Haven't been looking much at draft prospects but I usually say best player available at a position of need.  SO, given that...what are our positions of need?  I'm going DL, LB, CB, OL, WR & maybe Edge.  Any thoughts?  There will be someone who drops but if multiple drop I see a move back and if that happens a 3 for 1 move up later since we have 10 picks.

Everyone knows #1 is Lawrence & #2 is most likely Wilson.....that makes the #3 pick this year the most wagered on selection of all-time.

Now anyone with a Twitter account has become an NFL draft peeenyious.

Odds on Trevor Lawrence going #1 overall....

Bet $1,000,000.00 Profit $10,000.00

That's right...bet $1 Million profit $10 Thousand.

I'm pretty sure I know who is getting selected #1 overall. In 2019 you could bet Lawrence would be #1 overall in 2021 draft. The odds back then?? 1-1

I think this year is the classic year to pick BPA at a position of need.

Defensively I would go ILB, DE, and CB.  Not in any particular order depending on how the board works out.

Offensively they have to look at RT an C and I think WR has to be high on their board.

If I had to bet on it?  I think Gute will move UP and get a defensive playmaker.  I think he knows better than anyone that there are holes on that side of the ball.

This is such a fascinating draft because of all the opt outs due to COVID19 and also lack of in person scouting opportunities over the last year.

To me, the most intriguing prospect that could be there for GB is Caleb Farley.  There will be teams that are scared of his injury history, but the risk/reward proposition might be hard to pass up.  He’s got flaws for sure, as he isn’t a great run defender, and his tackling is questionable at times.  But he possesses elite physical traits, plays physical, and is a playmaker.  The thought of him teaming up with Jaire Alexander is pretty exciting.

Farley is an interesting player.  i wonder though if the Packers might shy away from him due to injury history.  The reason i think that is one Kevin King and his injury history.

That guy sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen.

1) Injury history

2) Can't tackle, bad run defense

3) But "elite physical traits"

Farley is a top 15 talent.  The injuries are a concern but if he falls and is there at 29 you’d really have to think about taking him.

The nightmare waiting to happen would be Gute caving under the fan pressure to take a receiver in R1.  Unless that WR is named Chase, Waddle, or Devonta Smith.  Big drop off after those three.

It’s fun to banter about it, but considering what LA gave up to get Matt Stafford- who is probably 2/3 the QB that Rodgers is - it would take multiple 1sts (including #3 overall) and multiple players likely to include Warner, McGlinchy, Deebo Samuel, and maybe another key guy to make it work.

So let’s say that is the proposal- #3 overall, their next 2 #1s and those 3 players would you do it?   #3 overall would have a lot of value to someone wanting a QB.  You could flip that for more picks and players.

I say this not because I’m down on Rodgers  or high on Love, but the Packers are more than 1-2 players away IMO.  This team won’t beat a healthy TB or KC team.

Rodgers to SF makes so much sense.

ARod returns "home" to make a SB run with the first top defense he's had in over a decade;

Gutey opens it up for his QB to take over;

The Pack's salary cap concerns over the next couple of years disappear; and

The Pack loads up on premium draft picks (and maybe a player or 2) so that they can continue to be "competitive" and regularly win the NFC North.

Now, that management can paint Rodgers as the villian, Gutey should get er done to ensure the Packer management dream of another decade of NFC North competitiveness.

All this presumes that Jordan Love is good. TT and MM thought Rodgers was good enough to move on from Favre and were proven right.

If I'm Rodgers I saw what Tom Brady has done the last few years and do the same thing. First, he forced the Patriots to trade Garrapollo and won a Super Bowl the following year. Then, he eventually left Boston anyway and won another Super Bowl. Brady is worshipped even more and gets to play in a warm-weather city.

It looks like Rodgers got pissed off about the Love pick last year, showed everyone that he wasn't done yet, and then wanted the Packers to commit to him for several more years. The Packers wouldn't play ball and are still committed to moving on. Murphy's PR disaster of a press conference last month might have been a factor, too.

If you had to bet right now, you'd guess they'd have to trade him, as the way the reports are worded you could imagine the Packers FO were the ones that leaked it. This is the money quote. You only say that if you want to make Rodgers look bad. We don't know what the extension, but the Packers clearly wanted it out there that they had offered an extension.

"Rodgers refused a restructure. Wanted an extension. Teams called knowing he wasn’t happy. GB rebuffed them. Offered an extension. No deal."
