I don’t know much about Elijah Moore, but the other day someone mentioned he had over 100 receiving yards in every SEC game last year.  I haven’t fact checked that, but it certainly makes it sound like he’ll be a guy that could contribute to an NFL team quickly having already faced NFL caliber CBs in a strong league.

Edit:  I checked and he did have 2 games under 100 yards one of which was 92 yards.  Auburn was the one team that shut him down.

Safety, Jevon Holland, could drop to us. I'm sure Barry would find some use for him, in his defense. Newsome would be a nice fit, too, if he is there. As would Assante Samuel. As for DL, I'd pick Barmore. Daviyon Nixon is a 4-3 DL guy. He may be the pick, if that's who Barry says he wants, there. I'd look at Tyler Shelvin, LSU, in the 2nd or 3rd round, if Barmore is gone at 29. We need to give Kenny Clark help in the middle of the DL, or he will be worn out, in a few short years, due to all the snaps he is playing, now. I think we will go CB, S, or IDL with our first pick, especially if Gute trades up, in the first round.

How does Steelers Tweeter know that for sure?

I can’t figure out how these rumors get started? And just exactly how do players move up and down draft boards? Is there a person who has tons of inside information, a hacker, a spy, an NFL guy, a little birdie, a time traveler or what?

I think the top 7 are going to go: Lawrence, Wilson, Fields, Pitts, Chase, Waddle, and Sewell.  First two are obvious.  Fields just profiles better for Shanahan's offense than Jones and Lance is way too raw for the #3 pick.  Falcons still have time left with Ryan (he's 35 and played pretty well last year) so no QB.  And with them putting out there that Jones is available, I think they're planning on Pitts being his replacement (although could be Chase).  The Bengals SHOULD draft Penei Sewell but they're the Bengals and instead go with Chase to appease Burrows.  And that will only work if Chase is the next AJ Green or Julio Jones (which is not a bet anyone should make).  Dolphins desperately need offensive talent so will take the best one available and happens to be Waddle.  And Lions do the smart thing and take the best LT in the draft.  After 7, I have no freaking clue.  Panthers and Broncos SHOULD be in the market for a QB but I don't think they will draft one.  Both could trade down.  Or stay put and take any one of maybe 5 players.  Really just no clue.  But first 7 picks I'm pretty confident about.

I've run a few mock draft simulators and honestly, nothing good has dropped to the Packers at #29.  I'd love to see either Collins, one of the top 4 corners, or top 5 OTs to drop to #29 but they're just not.  I don't really like any of the WRs there nor like taking a non-ILB/CB/OT/WR.  So I'd like to see them trade back but still get Asante Samuel Jr.  He seems to be slotted around 45.

I just ran a mock at TDN, and got this: quite similar to previous mocks, where Vera-Tucker somehow drops. Not sure how realistic that is. In the 2nd, I took Cox over Holland, but you could substitute Javon Holland there. In the 3rd, I keep ending up with the corner from Minnesota...lol

All in all, not a bad draft...this qualifies as my own high-RAS draft...every one of these guys has a high-RAS rating. You can tell they are high-RAS players, because they have high-RAS- sounding names, like...Boom...Vera-Tucker...now that just screams high-RAS....and, and, you add another guy with a name like Dalman, and you can see how that suddenly becomes a high-RAS duo...throw a player like Favre in there, and you've got the the high-RAS team of the century.

I'd take that.

I don’t think Samuel is there at 62...Packers may trade back and get him in the early 2nd. Hell, they may pull the trigger at 29 on him.

A round 3-5 OL to keep an eye on is Nebraskas Brendan Jaimes. He fits what the Packers like, and what Stenovich loves to do.

I think they will take at least one edge rusher, maybe two. Preston is likely gone after this year and Z's contract is mighty hefty, unless stretched more. Two mid-rounders to keep an eye on are Patrick Johnson from Tulane, he's shorter than ideal but has all the traits and versatility I think Gutekunst would want, and Elerson Smith from Northern Iowa who is a Kyler Fackrell-type as a sub-package rusher.

If we could realistically get Alijah VT at 29 then that's an absolute steal. That guy is going to play OT in the NFL and be elite. He would be elite anywhere you put him in the line honestly. Online draft folks are listing him as an interior OL only, I guarantee the NFL is not thinking of him like that. He, Sewell, and Slater are 1a, 1b, and 1c at OT. I don't expect him to make it out of the top 20.

29. Green Bay Packers

Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota | Highlights

If GM Brian Gutekunst truly subscribes to the best-player-available theory -- isn't that what QB Jordan Love was last year? -- then he has to go this way. He needs a corner, but Farley, Horn and Surtain are off the board. He needs a tackle, but the Bears snatched Jenkins nine picks ago. So the Packers may finally end their 20-year, first-round receiver drought. -- Rob Demovsky

WR is Round 1 gives the Packers a little protection in the event Davante prices himself off the team after a strong 2021 season. That pie can only be sliced so many times and a few players have most of it.

Ok...my final 2021 mock. I re-did the TDN simulator, and came up with this:

29. Zaven Collins LB, Tulsa

62. Jevon Holland S, Oregon

92. Alim McNeill IDL, NC State

135. Brenden Jaimes OT, Nebraska

142. Ihmir Smith-Marsette WR, Iowa

173. Ambry Thomas CB, Michigan

178. Josh Palmer WR, Tennessee

214. Malcolm Koonce EDGE, Buffalo

220. Jaylon Moore OT, Western Michigan

256. Elijah Mitchell RB, Louisiana
