Core STer.

Yep. When you have the chance to draft the next Oren Burks, you just can't risk not being able to do that. In fairness, Cox was going to cost more than that.

TE is where I thought they might look for help.

i would add San Francisco to the list of asinine moves to get a QB.   They gave up basically 3 #1 picks to get a guy that may or may not be the answer.

Making matters worse, the 49ers are 3-4 and have a game left v AZ, two v the Rams, at Cincy, at Tennessee, at Seattle and at Minnesota.  At best, that’s an 8-8 team.

They could go 9-8.

Re: Cox

When we were kids and at the time rosters were 40 players. Fred Cox kicked for the Vikings. We would say, “The Vikings have 39 players without Cox.”

Reminds me of Lynn Dickie when he got hurt.
Looks like the Pack is going to have to play with their dickie out!

Oops, Dickey...

When his time off allowed, my Dad and I would do weekend fishing trips.
We took very little food, but did have provisions for frying fresh-caught fish. To say we were highly motivated to prevent hunger would be an understatement.

Our 'punishment' for coming up empty was 'monkey peckers'

I remember when I was of elementary school age there was a Packers team picture up in our school gym like this one. This might actually be the same photo. Everyone would take a pin off the board and put it in Lynn Dickeys crotch so that he had a huge hole between his legs.6066767A-409F-4DB7-B357-D1EAB7A64E90

So this is why Dickey was so injury prone?  A bunch of elementary kids created a voodoo doll of him to torture?

So Desean Jackson has been released. No need to give up any picks/players for him. Does that change anyone’s opinion of picking him up. Malik Taylor is a better option for a roster spot? MVS is the only real deep threat and he’s long term battling a hammy. Could be a bad moon risin’ type of pick up.

Guess the question is: what does Desean want? He’s not chasing a SB because he wouldn’t have whined his way out of a contender. Does he want to be a starter? GB has Adams who gets the bulk of the targets and then role players backing him up. Jackson doesn’t block and basically is just a deep threat, so he’s already a less useful version of MVS. If he would sign for minimum just to be a return specialist then sure, but I have a hunch that’s not the role he wants.

D-Jax to be on the Packers would need to be league minimum plus a returner.

His plays on offense would most likely be in the 25% range.

I have NFI why he wanted off the Rams

Yeah, he's just not a fit here. He wants to be a focal point of an offense. He clearly doesn't value winning over that or he would still be a Ram.

If he clears waivers that is what will happen.  Talking heads think nobody will do a waiver claim because they are then on the hook for the whole salary.   If not claimed then he is FA and able to sign with anybody.

Yep - I meant to check on NFL.com yesterday, but didn't get around to it.  Because he's vested, he has to go through the "waiver process" first.  If no claims are made, he becomes a FA and can sign anywhere for any amount. Otherwise, the claiming team has to pay the remainder of his salary ($7 million+)

Link to Waiver Rules as of 2015
