There’s still free agency, of course, but they’ll probably bring in at least three linebackers, three defensive backs, three-four offensive linemen, a running back, a quarterback, and  an edge rusher. And that’s without a wide receiver or defensive tackle they really like being there for them, or maybe dropping a 7 on a long snapper.

They probably still have some money to spend, but will they want to spend it on who’s available in free agency?

Nor sure he will fall to us but really like the idea of drafting super versatile OL Troy Fautanu.

Fautanu is not the ideal height for OT for the Packers...but his longer arms may get them to ignore the 1/2 inch in the height...especially if they project him as an emergency OT and more of an OG. Pat Hill once told me long arms is more important than vertical height in his opinion for OL and DL.

His feet and athleticism are superb...reminds me of Elgton coming out of college. I think if he were 6'5" he'd be in the conversation for top 3 OT off the board. If he's there at 25, I hope Gutey pulls the trigger.

Height is only important because it tends to produce longer arms. It is also a liability when it comes to leverage. Shorter guys have an easier time bending their knees and getting lower. Fautanu is really good and he is an athlete.

I like Daniel Jeremiah...he puts a lot of thought into his stuff. He's connected also. I just don't see the Packers taking Amarius Mims, He'd be the largest OT the Packers have had since Tootie Robbins...who in comparison to today's OT isn't that big.

I think Mims is better suited to another offense...not ZBS.

Arms are DFH...but you'd expect 36" arms on a damn near 6'8" man. His size and length, he's either LT or RT...there is no kicking him inside to OG.

I'd take Odunze over both...I think he's going to be another Duh-vante.

Good athlete and receiver and he only wants to get better. He's a competitor. However, Nabers seems to do everything well. I love the way he separates. He would be my choice.

Caleb Jones disagrees

Jared Veldheer was a solid 6' 8"
Luke Tenuta is listed at 6' 8" on team website, not sure how accurate that is
Some real sky scrapers...and Bakh made it work at 6' 4"

Yup. And longer legs too -
Their stride length on a kick- step is greater so they get to the spot faster than their shorter-legged counterparts in pass pro.

And all those tall guys have done crap for the Packers. Rong of me to say he'd be the biggest...but he would be the biggest guy they invested such high draft capital in.

68 has some good thoughts on LT...

Christian Watson's dad, former Packer Tim Watson...he has a lot of strong and sound opinions. He likes The Edge!

I have heard that Wahle does not think much of Walker, but here he seems to support Walker, although he would like some competition for him.

He's the only rookie ILB that fits the "Captain of the Defense" role...imo.

Payton Wilson is an intriguing prospect...but two blown ACL's I think take him off Gutey's board unless he slips into the 3rd. Yeah, he played on them last year, tested well...but first round capital...you gotta play the odds. I'd rather see them "reach" for Edge at the end of round 1 given he's had no serious injuries in his career.

Competition is great.  However, Walker is coming on and will be the LT in 2024 barring injury.  Super impressed with him.

Dare I say that he was arguably our best OLman last year?

Him or Zach Tom. I vote for Zach.

No.

But he was arguably our second best, at the primo position.

LOL! Truth be told I was skeptical of his abilities until the 49ers game. He had no problem handling Bosa and Chase Young in that game.

Now the stats are coming out showing he was one of the most effective pass blocking tackles in the league. I think he’s a keeper.

I'd be happy going into the season with Walker and Tom plus a day 1/2 rookie. Yeah it could be better but it could also be a whole lot worse and a whole lot more expensive. TO put it in perspective, Broncos went into the offseason with Garrett Bolles and Mike McGlinchey about to eat up $39m of cap space before restructures.

Super impressed with him.

Looks like the Packers are too

The Packers made zero effort to retain Yosh Nijman, who the Panthers signed to be their back-up LT. The problem for Yosh is that he's really LT - only.
He can play RT, just not very well. ( can't wipe with his opposite hand)

Gute will absolutely bring in LT competition via the draft - curious to see if its a mid-round developmental guy or starter material early. ( maybe both ?)

Right now, Luke Tenuta has earned the RT2 spot, but drafting a swing OT who can handle either/ both seems like a good idea.
Walker needs competition, the Packers need depth.

With Jones and Tenuta the issue is they’re pretty much tackles only, so if they’re not starting they don’t have much active roster value, especially as a pair.

Your point is a good one, but as long as they are developing as tackles they have great value as injury insurance protection. The value of tackles means that pure tackles have enough value to be worth the trouble.

Sure, but when it comes to game day actives the only interior backup on the roster is Royce Newman. Nobody’s stash is big enough to get us through a season of that.

I get the angst around drafting 11 players and wondering how they can all make the roster but that's not how draft classes work.  All 11 won't make the roster. Maybe 1 or 2 make the practice squad.  And maybe in the 6th and 7th rounds, you needed to throw 4 darts to find one guy like Valentine. And that'd be success b/c hit rate on 6th/7th round is so low these days.

When it comes to # of picks, focus on the first 4 rounds b/c those guys should all make the roster. If you don't have room for those picks, then it's an issue. But round 6-7 are throwing darts. It's ok to draft 4 guys in those rounds and but cut 2-3 before training camp or move to the practice squad if you can find 1 contributor.

LOL! Painful! The solution though? Throw Newman to the curb. Draft his replacement.
