Would Gutekunst take a smaller guy, though? He seems to have a preference and it would seem a bit strange to see him go smaller when that guy would be hand-down even more than before.

Maybe someone like Jalyx Hunt, Javon Solomon or even Jaylen Harrell who might be a SAM linebacker candidate in base and a specialist in nickel.

Hunt might be very intriguing as he played safety at Cornell and receiver/corner in high school so should have the movement skills to develop at the position.

My guess is a dedicated edge would be in the Marshawn Kneeland/Xavier Thomas/Myles Cole mold. I like bendy edge rushers, but it just doesn’t seem the direction they’re interested in.

He won’t take a smaller guy no matter how hard we wish.

Marvin Harrison Jr not working out at tOSU pro day. It’s a ghost town in Columbus. He’s totally falling to 25.🤣

Smart guy. He's been slotted as the #1 non-QB in the draft, why bother training for the underwear Olympics?

Heard an interesting thought on Harrison Jr - nearly all players spend the first 5 months of the year doing non-football training to improve their draft stock then show up in June to minicamps not really ready to play football and it leaks into training camp. Wouldn't you rather your rookie spend this time getting better at football and not track and weightlifting?  Just thought it was interesting.

Starting to be talk of Nabers leapfrogging him in draft order.

media masturbation.
They've got to keep it up for 5 more weeks. Silly season is upon us
Soon we should be getting the annual articles demanding the draft be moved earlier into April -  because they can't keep it up for 5 more weeks

Except that, silly me prefers Nabers.

Depends on the new DC.

I'd like them to get one of the top 3 receivers. They need a difference maker and until Watson proves he isn't made of glass they don't have a reliable guy like that.

I would be ok if the Packers got a WR who can stretch the field and make the defense account for him.  I love what Watson brings to the offense but until he can be counted upon to stay on the field consistently I am ok with grabbing a WR.

I'm gonna push back on this a little.
If you look at how MLF schemes his WRs, he has them ( and TE's) running free fairly often. With a lot of defenses designed to take away the big plays, ( Cover-2) smart offenses have attacked the middle of the field - and the Packers are one of them. They already have the TEs to attack the 2 deep zones

If you want a speed demon, Bo Melton ran a 4.39 and showed he belongs
If you want a big tall guy who is also fast, Watson is already on the roster

If you had unlimited resources ? sure.

Its just a case of diminishing returns - and spending enough draft capital to find another field-stretching WR doesn't seem like good value. GB already has those guys AND they are all young & ascending AND they win by spreading it around all of em instead of forcing it to Adams.

I totally understand the fan's desire for a difference-maker I just think GB already has enough talent available in that amazing WR room.

Love had the 2nd most passing TDs in the league last year. That seems pretty good ?

I'd suggest spending draft capital on OT, OG and/or OC will net a bigger improvement for an offense that was truly humming at the end of 2023 - well enough to drag their season-long stats to Top 10 levels.

#6 in yards per play
#8 in points/ game
#6 in yards/ completion
# 10 in passing 1st downs
#7 in points per play
#7 in passing TDs/ game
# 8 in Red Zone TDs/ game

Mid to later round WR yes please.  Last (season) Samurai Toure

Option you ask?

Jermaine (Jackson, Not Tito) Burton

Ricky (the dragon) Pearsall

Javon (touchdown maker) Baker

Luke Mc(friggin)CAFFREY

So, which OL guy is Gute moving up for? FWIW, I've heard he likes Barton, Fautana and Fuaga. Not sure what measurable these guys have that fits Gute's template for playing OL, (ie 34" arms 6'4" tall,  < 360 lbs, RAS score,  ability to play all along the OL, whatever???) Job one is if they can protect Love. Job 2 is if they can open holes for our RBs.

He only needs to move up if he wants MHJ or one of the top 2-3 WRs. (Nabers? Odunze?)

Other than that....it's business as usual for the Packers.....out draft the other 31 teams AGAIN!

OT, boundary corner, slot corner, impact edge guy…all should be available at 25. All needs, all premium positions. Just don’t see Gutey pulling the trigger on an OT that projects as OG…will go OT if he thinks it’s an upgrade in competiton for Rasheed Walker.

Yes, it’s purportedly a bad off-ball LB draft…but if Gutey thinks he’s a dude, he will take one at 25…like he did with Quay much to the fanboys chagrin. Personally I think Quay will blossom under Hafley…Barry had no clue how to use him. Trotter is undersized, but his bloodline is superb…and he makes a ton of plays…could see him with one of the 2nd rounders.

I don't think they do.   I prefer the current format of having a stable of guys that could be the man at any given moment.

I'd prefer the difference maker on offense be at RB.

Found on the internet:

The 3 OLinemen I favor in the draft (in each of the first 4 rounds):

1st/2nd round - King Sua.
Compare his RAS (9.38) card with Penei Sewell. Identical in every way. They are cousins and Kingsley has trained and been taught by Penei. Not bad considering Sewell was the highest rated PFF OL last year and he might have been rated the highest player. If Sua can come close to his cousin, that's a big hit. Put up 31 on bench with long arms. That's one more than JPJ with short arms. So strength is not an issue. On the downside, he probably is coming out a year early. He's only a sophomore and you can see from tape he struggles at time with balance and reaches. He may need a year, but his ceiling could be the highest in the draft. Tackle/guard experience. Start him out at RG, but should eventually be the RT of future.

3rd round - Roger Rosengarten
This might be low for him since the combine. RAS (9.61). At the Senior Bowl they had him at both RT and LT and impression was there was no drop off. Played on a Washington team that was 3rd in the country for pass blocking grade (89.0) and they only allowed one sack. Troy Fautanu (who I really like, but will probably be gone) was on the other side. Downside is he needs a year in the weight room for both lower and upper body. Had a bad game against a very good defense in the champion Michigan team, but that's one reason they are champions. He has the athleticism to be a LT, but needs experience and work on technique.

4th round - Brandon Coleman
Sleeper pick for me. Great athleticism (9.98 RAS). He is a thick guy with long arms and big hands. Strong (squats 600 and benches 400). Has Tackle/guard experience, but most likely a guard in the NFL. Was dinged a bit last year so his 2022 season looks better. Had some pressures at Tackle, but played for TCU Horn Frogs which pass a lot. I watched a play, I think against Texas, where he took a rusher and tossed him to the ground with one hand. Didn't start playing football until his Senior year in high school. Military kid. Team captain. Needs more experience. As they all do.

Depending on what teams think about Edge Cooper's interviews, he is clearly the number 1 off-ball linebacker. I also like Junior Colson of Michigan, but am waiting to see the results of his pro day. You also have to like Payton Wilson's athleticism, but his injury history scares me.

Waiting for some numbers from Florida State’s pro day this morning. Especially curious for agility numbers for Renardo Green and Jarrian Jones.

Tyler Nubin of the Gophers  decided to run everything and came out of his testing with a 2.91 RAS. Ouch!

Kam Kinchens had a not-good 40 and only did a poor broad jump otherwise and is sitting at ab1.83 RAS. Double ouch!

Guess Rakestraw wasn't quite 100% at the combine.

Just remember.....There is NO WAY Bryan Bulaga will drop to the Packers. NO WAY. Also, NO WAY Aaron Rodgers will drop to the Packers. NO WAY!!

I don’t think I could hate RAS and PFF bullshit anymore than I do.   It’s all pointless bullshit.    Can the man play football better than the other men?   Trying to fit that into a algorithm is nonsense.

It's only stupid if you don't understand it.

Guys like Abdul Hodge and Amari Rodgers were good college players, but lacked the baseline athleticism to cut it in the pros. The level of competition and athleticism in the NFL is just so far beyond what guys face in college that if you can't stack up physically, you have very little chance of making it.

Mizzou has a few players that are going to be drafted.

Jaylon Carlies S amongst them.   Old college roommate is good friends with his family.

Cody Schrader, RB, will be one of them, as well. GB could get him the 6th-7th Rounds. He may even go as an UDFA.
