Will (freakin)  Shipley RB from Clemson is DFH material . He's a broke man's Christian McCaffrey. Like the midget (Corum) from Michigan as a change of pace/gadget guy too

Packers supposedly will have 11 draft picks when the compensatory picks are added. With the team this young and already a ton of first and 2nd year guys, do the Packers even have room to add up to 11 new rookie players? I don't think so. I suspect Gutey will wheel and deal to move up throughout the draft and end up with 6 or 7 picks. Just a hunch.

Particularly with the back half of the draft depleted by players staying in college a year longer to tap into NIL funds and hopefully improve their draft stock for next season.

I wonder what Fennell thought of Mark Tauscher. Did he overachieve for 10 straight years?

My understanding is that Mark overachieved at pickle ball for the first few years following his retirement.  Since then, he's been mostly resting on his laurels and occasionally his fat ass.

Shipley is rated as the No. 9 running back prospect for the 2024 draft, according to Pro Football Focus. He's the No. 122 overall prospect, meaning he's projected to be selected in the middle rounds of the seven-round draft.

I can see that comp in some of his highlights and the way he runs.

Wait. Is a broke man more financially disadvantaged than a poor man?

If I'm the Bears I swap 1st round picks and also Commanders 2nd round.  Then I swap the #2  To New England for their 1st rounder and also their 2nd.  Then keep the 3rd pick and draft Harrison Jr.  That will give the Bears 4 picks in the top 36.  What a haul that would be.

Is he resting on his laurels? When I heard it, he was resting on his yannies.

DeJean is very interesting.  It will be interesting to see what he shows in physical testing.  If he runs low 4.4 or high 4.3 40 and shows other explosive traits, maybe he goes higher than late 1st.

The Iowa D Coordinator thinks he’s a special athlete, we’ll see if he tests that way to backup the eye test.

The Iowa zone thing is scary, and I'm curious to see his numbers. Straight-line will probably be pretty good, but I'm very curious to see his three cone/lateral agility tests. Maybe I'm off, but he doesn't seem super fluid to me. If he has good agility numbers, I could also see Pittsburgh or someone else grabbing him earlier.

There are few underclassmen this year and Green Bay isn't the only team that looks for young guys, but corner has a decent number with DeJean, Arnold, McKinstry, Lassiter and Wiggins. I think Lassiter goes latest of these guys and I think Arnold would be their #1 choice but will be gone earlier.

A guy I think they'd love (depending on testing) is Renardo Green from Florida State. He's a faster Al Harris who just stones people in press man. LSU will likely have WRs Nabers and Thomas go Round 1 and Green frustrated both of them in that game. He's a senior, but they can go a different direction in Round 1 and still get a corner that fits an aggressive scheme.

I could also see them liking two of Green's former teammates in the slot: Jarrian Jones and Jarvis Brownlee (transferred to Louisville). If not for Quinyon Mitchell, Brownlee may have been theDB everyone was raving about from Mobile. He looked very physical, as well.

Great athlete. Ball Hawk. Plays the run.  Team Leader. Great Character. Very Smart Corner or Safety depending on scheme.

Iowa plays a lot of zone and quarters coverage, Therefore I think perfect for Single deep safety Packers are looking to transition to   He could easily bump and run also not a small guy  True JR just turned 21

Super athletic version of Micah Hyde, the Bills figured out how to best utilize

Added bonus elite punt returner and  ST Gunner. Iowa uses a lot of their starters on Teams.

I've also seen DeJean referred to as a possible S for whoever drafts him.  His press skills or lack thereof may be less important?  I know defenses in general are favoring versatility to help with disguising reads.

DeJean would be good, if he comes to us as a Safety, rather than a CB. DeJean in man coverage as a CB might look a lot like Josh Jackson.

I wonder how the safety thing is going to play out. Old school was a gifted center fielder and a box thumper, but I’m not sure that really works anymore with offenses having more freedom to get matchups on defenders. Ed Reed and Earl Thomas could be anywhere at any time, but forcing a 1-on-1 with Kam Chancellor  was often the goal rather than letting him hunt.

From the 33rd Team - their annual look at a horizontal draft board

Its still early in the draft season, so its not completed yet - but you can get a look at where certain players are and how deep positions are overall as we get closer to the draft

Fair catch BS aside, that DeJean punt return against the Goofers was just sick. Kid is electric with the ball in his hands in the open field.

I don't know how many punts he downed inside the 5 yd line in his short Iowa career, but it was a hell of a lot . Seemed like he got at least 1 in every game that I saw.

Probably the best move for the Bears.  My buddy is a Bears fan and he's convinced the fanbase is so toxic that no QB can ever succeed in Chicago, so why try.  Just roll with Fields and put as much talent around him as possible.

Not hard, considering Iowa punted something like 30 times a game with that offense.

Sounds like we should sign the punter if they down that many kicks inside the five.

I still don't know what Walker is as far as long term expectations at LT.  You see various data like that posted above.  And then you see some analysts (actual paid analysts) who keep saying GB could draft a LT to replace Bahktiari.  I know there are other ramifications and good reasons to draft another T but Walker's name never comes up in those assessments.  Either they're unaware of Walker or see him as adequate rather than potentially very good.  Which is your goal for protecting the blind side.

Has anyone read or heard what someone like Wahle or Bulaga has said about him, after the season?

Packers will surely look at some DL  in the upcoming draft, but here's a blurb on the international player, Kenneth Odumegwu and his development into an NFL player. A year in an NFL S&C program + learning technique from pro's gives this guy a chance

https://www.packers.com/news/k...ing-short-of-amazing

"There were countless times this season Rashan Gary would sit back during practice and watch Kenneth Odumegwu in pure amazement.

While helping Gary and his fellow Packers teammates prepare for their next opponent, the 6-foot-6, 259-pound linebacker was also learning the game on the fly as the first prospect to be allocated to Green Bay via the NFL International Pathway Program.

A native of Anambra State in southeast Nigeria, Odumegwu spent the 2023 season as an international exemption on the Packers' practice squad. He earned the opportunity after a series of tryouts and combines, beginning with former NFL player Osi Umenyiora's NFL Africa Touchdown Camp in Accra, Ghana.

Once the top-rated recruit in all of college football, Gary is one of numerous Packers players who took Odumegwu under his wing this season. During the tough moments, the fifth-year veteran also was there to remind Odumegwu how incredible it is to see everything he's doing.

"It's crazy, man," Gary said. "I'm telling him, and he doesn't understand. For you to leave your home and jump into the highest level – I had to go to middle school, high school, college, (and) here. You jump right into it. You're learning at the highest level."

I think we need to acknowledge that he just completed his first year as a starter. Being a 7th round pick certainly clouds things in people’s minds.

Indeed.

Also makes you wonder why he was a 7th. Walker missed some games due to knee injury and couldn't work out pre-draft, so maybe that hurt his rankings.

For young OL - some things are fixable, some aren't. I'd love to watch Wahle  break down this guys' game.

We also have to acknowledge that MLF designs the offense knowing he has a new guy on the blindside. There's a lot you can do with formation, motions, chips and play action to make life easier on the LT.

That's why a breakdown on his technique would be such an illuminating watch. Wahle did have a few positive comments on Walker as part of his divisional playoff review.

Drafting an OT seems quite likely no matter what because this draft is loaded with 'em and Gute knows protecting Love is Job 1. Gute said the Packers need 8 starting caliber OL to make it through an nfl season -  and we're a couple shy.

I'd also be curious to know if Walker is a viable candidate at RG
