I'd rather have a gem like 7th rounder Mark Tauscher. Played more games than any other Badger who was also a Packer.
The way they played last night, they didn't seem to be trying to make the playoffs.
They desperately need a threat at RB if 33 can't stay healthy. Dillon can be a real nice #2 and a bruiser but you need someone more in Jones's class if you really want this offense to hum.
The issue with stopping the run is both scheme/play calling and personnel. Gute typically favors DL who can rush the passer more than stop the run. When you combine that with Barry's penchant for "limiting big plays when they don't matter", you get a bottom feeder run defense. Gute needs to find an anchor or 2 to drop next to Kenny.

I would've liked to have seen Patrick Taylor with more touches. He had 4 carries and 4 productive runs. On 2nd and 4 in the second quarter, he ripped off a 14-yard run. On 1st and 10, he ran for 5 yards to end the third quarter. The very next play he ran for 7 yards and a 1st down. Two plays later, on 1st and 10, he ran for 4 more yards. All told, 4 carries for 30 yards. He also had 2 catches (16 and 6 yards). I know LaFLeur was pissed that he didn't get out of bounds late in the game, but I thought he played well. Definitely earned more reps IMO.
Taylor is ok. Hopefully someone can teach him how to go out of bounds when he is supposed to

I'm not that into drafting a RB high but this team needs some talent at RB. Jones seems to be on his last legs with the injuries and Dillon is a JAG. But OL has to be 1st priority.
I could see a RB in Round 3 or 4
@mrtundra posted:If we do get to pick at #20, or lower, all the stud OTs in Alt, Fashanu and Latham will, most likely, be off the board when our pick comes around. Our Scouting department had better do its homework on OTs left on the board, when we pick, and if there is value in going after a player in the later rounds.
Yeah, I admit when things were going bad I had dreams of Alt or Fashanu, but that's likely a pipe dream at this point.
Kingsley Suamataia from BYU is an(other) intriguing guy who could go in Round 1. He's a two-year starter, one at each tackle spot, long and athletic.
If they go with anyone but the top 2, I'd like to see them double down with Joshua Gray from Oregon State. He has a number of similarities to Bakhtiari and Chad Clifton and could slide inside (where a number of people project him, also similar to the two long-time Packers) if another tackle is better on the edge.
You can find quality RB everywhere if your OL is doing its job in this scheme. Raheem Mostert was an UDFA and he has been a quality starter for two teams.
Was just reminded of the RB thing today.
To be fair, Mostert is also an outlier. He was a returner and a receiver with blazing speed and medicore hands at Purdue until they started giving him the Cordarelle Patterson treatment and even then had pretty modest production.
Jones fell because of a failed drug test.
Ekelar was a small school guy.
While the position is devalued these days in the NFL, most of the good backs are still relatively early picks.
McCaffrey - 1st round
Jacobs- 1st Round
Henry - Early 2nd
Taylor - Early 2nd
Chubb - Early 2nd
Barkley - 1st round
Walker - Early 2nd
Hall - Early 2nd
Etienne - 1st round
Kamara - Top of 3rd round
Robinson - 1st round
Gibbs - 1st round
Swift - Early 2nd
Montgomery - 3rd round while coming off a knee injury.
J. Williams - Early 2nd
Of course they also tend to have the shortest shelf life so taking one before you're ready to make a run (unless you have a young QB to develop) seems iffy.
After Anders Carlson missed another PAT and two other missed FGs, in previous games, which cost us wins, do we look for a Kicker in the draft, or maybe a FA? Do we stick with Carlson? What's your take? Carlson, IMO, fits right in with this STs unit. Hard to figure out what Bisaccia is looking for here, with so much inconsistency on that squad.
Carlson also has trouble with short kickoffs.
Crosby could do short kickoffs, but would make field goals and extra points.
Thatโs a bit revisionist History. Look at their Rookie year stats. Then look at the stats for Crosby when they changed the XP distance.
Carlson deserves competition like anyone else. There were plenty of ups and downs with Crosby over the years. Including the yips.
I donโt know whoโs out there, but I feel we should draft 2 OTโs and a RB in the first three rounds, Best available where we pick
1. Left tackle
2. safery
3.Corner
4. center
5. edge
6. depth

I think two OL, whether they are both OTs or an OT and an OG or an OT and a C, then an RB are in order. BPA would be good!
Best offensive lineman available. BOLA.
Every best offensive lineman available
EBOLA
That LT walker seems to be working out.
found on the internet: More than anything, this result is a product of how well Walker has been playing as of late. Over the last four weeks, Walker has surrendered just one sack and seven pressures, including only two in the last two weeks. He has done this while going up against some blitz-heavy defenses as well.
Today's wishful/wistful thinking...
I'm probably light one O-lineman in this draft...a center or guard, but the thinking is I could put Morgan at LT or RT and slide Zach over to C or keep him at RT. That would depend on the C and RG situation.

Carlson will be around for 10+ years. He's making 83% of his FG's. Yeah too many PAT's missed but not a big worry.
We are talking 4 PAT's missed in 15 games. Too many but watch him make his next 30.
I want a ton of online on this draft, but I canโt shake the feeling that Mayo will go for a running back early

Just for comparison.....
Take a wild guess who's stats those are??

I thought you wanted offline this draft.

Your Mom's?
Mom is an 86% FG kicker.....great guess!๐
I'd be cool with a potential "alpha" WR if one's there in the second. This should be a great WR class once again, with potentially a better number of elite tier guys than the past few years.
2022 - Wilson, Olave and London, with only London also having elite size.
2023 - No elite tier prospects.
2024 - Potentially Marvin Harrison Jr, Malik Nabers, Rome Odunze, Keon Coleman, Ameka Egbuka (not elite size) and Brian Thomas Jr.
That said, my first wish is a set-and-forget LT for a set-and-forget Offensive Line.
Team up Coleman and Reed again

Tahj Washington declares
He could be that sneaky 2nd/3rd/4th rounder that Gutey loves to draft
Looking back to earlier posts about the draft I am wondering if the teams needs have changed in the last month or so. Seems to me in October every position needed a serious upgrade, now not so certain. The OLine has solidified but always needs depth. Still need a run stopping MLB and a 33 clone IMO.
My point? Maybe the cupboard is not as empty as many thought.
Safety, CB, Guard, Tackle, and RB.
OMGOSH. and damn, a holding call on Bucky. ๐ก
