They desperately need a threat at RB if 33 can't stay healthy.  Dillon can be a real nice #2 and a bruiser but you need someone more in Jones's class if you really want this offense to hum.

The issue with stopping the run is both scheme/play calling and personnel.  Gute typically favors DL who can rush the passer more than stop the run.  When you combine that with Barry's penchant for "limiting big plays when they don't matter", you get a bottom feeder run defense.  Gute needs to find an anchor or 2 to drop next to Kenny.

I would've liked to have seen Patrick Taylor with more touches.  He had 4 carries and 4 productive runs. On 2nd and 4 in the second quarter, he ripped off a 14-yard run. On 1st and 10, he ran for 5 yards to end the third quarter. The very next play he ran for 7 yards and a 1st down. Two plays later, on 1st and 10, he ran for 4 more yards. All told, 4 carries for 30 yards. He also had 2 catches (16 and 6 yards). I know LaFLeur was pissed that he didn't get out of bounds late in the game, but I thought he played well. Definitely earned more reps IMO.

If we do get to pick at #20, or lower, all the stud OTs in Alt, Fashanu and Latham will, most likely, be off the board when our pick comes around. Our Scouting department had better do its homework on OTs left on the board, when we pick, and if there is value in going after a player in the later rounds.

Yeah, I admit when things were going bad I had dreams of Alt or Fashanu, but that's likely a pipe dream at this point.

Kingsley Suamataia from BYU is an(other) intriguing guy who could go in Round 1. He's a two-year starter, one at each tackle spot, long and athletic.

If they go with anyone but the top 2, I'd like to see them double down with Joshua Gray from Oregon State. He has a number of similarities to Bakhtiari and Chad Clifton and could slide inside (where a number of people project him, also similar to the two long-time Packers) if another tackle is better on the edge.

Was just reminded of the RB thing today.

To be fair, Mostert is also an outlier. He was a returner and a receiver with blazing speed and medicore hands at Purdue until they started giving him the Cordarelle Patterson treatment and even then had pretty modest production.

Jones fell because of a failed drug test.

Ekelar was a small school guy.

While the position is devalued these days in the NFL, most of the good backs are still relatively early picks.

McCaffrey - 1st round

Jacobs- 1st Round

Henry - Early 2nd

Taylor - Early 2nd

Chubb - Early 2nd

Barkley - 1st round

Walker - Early 2nd

Hall - Early 2nd

Etienne - 1st round

Kamara - Top of 3rd round

Robinson - 1st round

Gibbs - 1st round

Swift - Early 2nd

Montgomery - 3rd round while coming off a knee injury.

J. Williams - Early 2nd

Of course they also tend to have the shortest shelf life so taking one before you're ready to make a run (unless you have a young QB to develop) seems iffy.

I'd be cool with a potential "alpha" WR if one's there in the second. This should be a great WR class once again,  with potentially a better number of elite tier guys than the past few years.

2022 - Wilson, Olave and London, with only London also having elite size.

2023 - No elite tier prospects.

2024 - Potentially Marvin Harrison Jr, Malik Nabers, Rome Odunze, Keon Coleman, Ameka Egbuka (not elite size) and Brian Thomas Jr.

That said, my first wish is a set-and-forget LT for a set-and-forget Offensive Line.
