CHI could nab him and Bowers.  But the smarter play, if they're not after a QB, would be to trade one of their top spots to a team desperate for Maye or Williams, load up on high picks and go from there.  They need OL.

Things will get really interesting if they take DM or CW.

I really hope they take Williams.   I see him as a bust.   He does not respond well to adversity.

I think OL and probably the secondary being the priorities this draft.  I can see a CB being very high on their board because I worry about Alexander's long term lingering back injury and  who knows about Stokes.

I think playmakers on offense at RB and WR may also be a priority.  They have some decent guys at WR who may grow but they need someone who can make some big time plays.   Watson has the physical tools to do that but he hasn't done it so far so they can't wait around too long to find someone who is a playmaker.

As for QB I really don't think they they will go high for a QB.  And if they do it will be around the 3rd round.  This QB class is very deep so they wTheon't have to go for a QB in the first round they can find someone if they think they need one in a lter round.   IMHO QB is not the issue for this offense its playmakers and OL and lack of a running game.

They need Aaron Jones' replacement.

I saw him play this year while visiting older daughter who attends ASU.  Watch a fair amount of Pac 2 games as a result.

In warm ups in the ASU game, they ran a drill having WRs go about 25-30 yards to the end zone with WRs taking multiple angles to the far pylon or back corner of EZ.   Williams was perfect - like 15/15 with all throws landing within the EZ and made it look super easy.  I’m not sure Jordan Love makes half of those throws.

Without him USC wins 4 games this year.  He’s elite and a couple of their WRs are good but not so much for the rest of the team.

Best case scenario is Chicago takes Maye and an OT and Arizona takes the WR and we pick 4.  Caleb time!   I doubt AZ takes a QB given they paid their guy big money.

There are two scenarios if the Packers pick near the top of the draft this year.

1. They are comfortable with Love as their QB for the foreseeable future and need basically everything else, so they pick the best non-QB.

2. They conclude Love is not their QB going forward and do what they need to do to draft a guy high in the first round. The problem with this is that there are almost always a lot of teams that need to draft their QB of the future every year, but there might be more of those cases this year than almost any year I can think of. The Giants, Falcons, Patriots, Buccaneers, Saints, Vikings, Raiders, and Commanders all clearly need a QB for next year. The Bears, Rams, Steelers, and Saints might also be in play for a QB as well.

If you think Love is your guy, you are likely to have a very robust trade market fora pick in the top 10 where you can get a QB. There will be a lot of desperate teams this year.

The Bears are likely to have a very interesting decision to make. If they are still all-in on Justin Fields, they could likely trade both of the potential top 3 picks for a king's ransom to desperate teams and really upgrade overall talent quickly.

They'll probably win a couple of meaningless games and screw this up.

I don’t disagree with that assessment.  If Green Bay ends up with a top 3 pick it’s hard to imagine them not taking Williams or Maye or Harrison Jr.   Gute might lose his job if they don’t.

I’m not as high on Maye as others but Love would need to take a quantum leap the rest of the year to pass on that guy.  If Love significantly improves, their record should as well so they likely won’t be in top 3 range anyway.

The challenge for GB is Chicago, New England, and the Giants all need a QB.   The good news is GB plays two of those three teams down the stretch so a loss to both might be a big difference in a top 10 pick v a top 5 pick.

I think Gute drafts OT/OL with that 1st pick, if we remain with the 6th pick.  Olu Fashanu or Joe Alt could be sitting there. I feel Williams and Harrison will be the first two picks, off the board. Maye will probably be third. Will Gute move up the board? Will he trade out and get more picks, later? If Brock Bowers is sitting there, at our pick, will Gute pull the trigger, on his third TE in two drafts? Draft talk this early, is fun, but some draft sites do not even have their big boards set, yet.

The Packers overcommitted so much to TE in the last draft that they almost can't take Bowers. Depending on the board they could trade down because someone is really going to want Bowers.

I don't think Love could prove enough in 8 games to pass on a franchise QB. Love was drafted as the QB of the future more than a franchise QB. I doubt the plan was ever for him to carry the team. This was supposed to be the year where the Packers went more run heavy and it just hasn't happened. Rodgers covered a lot of warts that few QBs can with his knowledge at the LOS.

It's hard to get a read on Love without more stability around him. Plus next season is his contract year and passing on Williams or Maye means you could be signing Love on potential and sink or swim with him. Having Love on a one year deal and one of those guys on the roster would be a good situation to be in.

I think they have to take OL early and often, with the exception being if they have a chance at one of the top QBs(which would take a top 3 pick).  They also could use a RB as Jones is starting to show his age and Dillon is likely gone.  They have young WRs and TEs, so more youth there seems redundant.

I don't know what to do with the defense.  8 first round picks and they're still a middling unit.  No idea what fixes it but doubt it's early draft picks.

They're actually not in great cap situation next year - like $6m of space plus $20m when they release Bakh.  They don't have any high priced free agents to resign though, so should give them a chance to bring in a solid few starters.  At a minimum, the need a vet guard or center, and WR.

Good LTs almost never hit the FA market.

It would be great to have a good LT, but they just need to make sure they have a competent LT next year. Walker would have to improve a lot to be consistently competent.

Maybe you can get a veteran type that can get you by for a year to allow you to really assess the rest of the offense. It's really tough when your LT has been a speed bump for several games to evaluate things. Couple that with having TEs that aren't really much help in blocking and it's even more of a problem.
