Woodson was first and foremost a great corner with top end speed who transitioned later in his career, same as Rod Woodson and Aneas Williams. That's a unicorn.
As for guys that are built as "slot safeties" there are quite a few as it's an in-demand position. Kamren Kinchens and Javon Bullard first come to mind, but Tyler Nubin, Beau Brade and even Cole Bishop can fit the bill. James Williams from Miami is intriguing. He's bigger and while he may not offer quite the coverage range, he's pretty freakish for his size and offers more as a blitzer.
For bigger corners with speed who have the athleticism to play in the traditional slot I'm not sure there is one, but there's maybe Quinyon Mitchell from Toledo.
Word is that Everfluster is interviewing Kliff Kingsbury, formerly of the Cards and now of USC, to become the OC at Chicago. My bet is Chicago is waiting for a less conspicuous time to release that they have hired Kingsbury. Then, they will draft Williams. In other words, the inmates are running the show.
Following today’s results, the Packers’ first round pick is set: 25th pick
For a team that at the beginning of the season was projected to be picking in the top 10, not too shabby
I believe at present the Pack has 5 picks in the first 91 draft slots. I’m thinking 1 O-Lineman, 1 or 2 defensive front 7 guys, 1 DB, 1 RB.
I only would think WR if they’ve decided to move on from oft injured Christian Watson. I think they give Watson one or 2 more years to prove himself since they spent so much draft capital to get him.
They'll give Watson more time. And they'll press to monitor his workouts, nutrition, and everything else during the offseason. But, I can see them drafting a WR they think has good value because Toure hasn't taken that jump yet, and knock on wood, other than Watson those guys stayed pretty healthy all year. They'll bring a couple into camp and see what happens.
GB also has three LBs on reserve/futures contracts. Who knows if there's a player in there, but Gute at least realizes an upgrade is needed and he's shaking the trees.
I forgot. GB also has WR Grant DuBose on the PS. Maybe he takes a step up.
Yes, DuBose. His highlight reel is more impressive than Wicks when it comes to contested catches. FWIW. Don't know much else about him. But regardless of that, this corps does need a burner that can stretch the field. Watson is safe.
Lots interesting FA's this offseason. Best ones probably don't get away from their current teams but I wonder if Gute doesn't have his eye on a ILB or DB. Winfield, Jr. and Lavante David are both FA. Patrick Queen too.
Watson needs Yoga and stretching. He'll be fine.
Grant DuBose flashed in pre-season. It's why he's still on the team.
I really think the picks they have higher in the draft will probably be something like ILB, CB, or safety. And I do think OL will be taken as well.
I don't remember if it was MLF who said it but by the sounds of it the team is going to be heavily involved in figuring out the hamstring issues Watson been suffering from. And I do think they will be in play for another WR in the draft who can stretch the field in case they can't get Watson's issues figured out.

Doesn't Bo have the same speed?
MVB7, now that I think about it yes he does have the same speed. So perhaps we already have the speed guy on the roster.
Bo does, and it would interesting to see them both on the field at the same time in some sets.

He’s on his rookie deal. He’s going nowhere for about 2 years.

He was really raw. The offseason is key for him.
Bo is supposed to be a speed guy but I haven't seen it on the field yet. Some guys play slower than their 40, some faster.

A build-up of fluid around the hammy?
My mock for the day... Drafting at 25 has changed the draft landscape significantly, but that's the result of success. I'll take it. In this case, I trade out of the 1st and nab an extra day 2 pick. Nubin falls unexpectedly to #39. Legette was the only real value on the board at 41, and I'm still concerned about Watson and his availability. Legette could be that Deebo Samuel type of player. Powers-Johnson helps solidify the middle of the O-Line. Colson (not sure what you all think of him) adds depth at ILB. Bullard was an easy pick at 88. I reached a bit for Darius Robinson, but he's the last good 3-4 DE left on the board at that spot. I didn't want to lose him. Lloyd is the best remaining RB at 125. Javon Foster could rise in the draft, as he's a LT and good value at 135. Castro had a very good 2023 season, and adds some depth at DB. Isaiah Davis adds more depth at RB. Same for Watson at LB, and yes, I think we need a different kicker. At the very least, someone should push Carlson for the job.
Edge rusher is an interesting idea in the first round. Preston’s not getting any younger, they’re short depth with Enagbare out and that fifth-year option could come in mighty handy with controlling salaries in the future. Gary will be in his 30s by the time that second contract would come up.
There were two EDGEs on the board at 25: Chris Braswell of Alabama and Jonah Elliss of Utah. I agree with you that with the loss of Kingsley for next year, EDGE isn't a bad idea if the right player is there.

To be fair, if the right woman is doing it they cure ED.
trade two 1st and a 2 for max crosby. the defense would get better even if I was a DC

Cooper is long gone before pick 25.
Last 5 picks at #25:
Buffalo Dalton Kincaid
Baltimore Tyler Linderbaum
Jax Travis Etienne
SF Brandon Aiyuk
Baltimore Marquise Brown
@Goalline posted:That's a much better solution. Electrolytes.
Electrolytes work, but many pro athletes still swear by pickle juice. (One pro hockey player even has his own line of it: P20.) They are doing more research on it and finding out it may shortcircuit cramps:
"People may assume athletes drink pickle juice to boost their levels of electrolytes, but that’s not the case — the effect is due to the acid in the brine triggering a nerve reflex in the throat and happens before the pickle juice even hits the stomach, he notes.
“'When the acid enters the mouth and it splashes the back of the throat, there is a nerve receptor there that is sensitive to acid. When that receptor fires, it communicates down the spinal cord where the cramp is happening,' Tapper tells TODAY.com.
“'It’s just a nerve firing in a loop. And then that signal says ‘Stop.’”
Others are more skeptical. The taste is something else, though. Link to story.

I recently bought some pickle flavored whisky. I wonder if that will help me get up off the floor, after drinking shots of that?
It's the reason I drink pickle beers all the time
First three picks are a combo or DB, OL and RB
I like a player who can play all 3 of those positions...
As for the draft, I do not feel that taking an OT, or OL guy, with our pick at 25 is a real necessity. I feel BPA, at any position, especially a position deemed as a need, when we pick at 20, or lower, may be prudent. Not so sure a top OT will be there at 25. We shall see.
