My guess is that the mere fact this thread has already reached 10 pages, he/she/Sybil consider this "mission accomplished". The length of this thread, and the disgust shown was likely the end-game all along.

I have somebody who'd like to help him.

One of my old training clients is a retired Marine Lt. Colonel. We've been emailing throughout the day and he's been reading the discussion. He won't register or post, but here's what he had to say:

Your "Marine" there is operating outside the parameters of the Marine Corps Values, Honor, Courage, and Commitment, of which he is derelict in at least the first two, probably all three. A .333 average might be respectable for a baseball player but, for someone who claims to be a Marine, it most certainly is not. This selective application of standards is not consistent with our Code. If you have any contact information for this gentleman, please be so kind as to pass it along so I can speak more directly to him. Thank you."

Nothing personal, scoop, but you're not bigger than the team.

You remember hearing the "you can't take it with you"?

Well Scoop plans to defy that old axiom.
I'm not going to get angry about it, but I wish I had my "condolences" post back. Very disappointing behavior.

I didn't follow things closely enough here, but I'm glad at least some of us were paying attention.

I can vouch for the fact that I'm not Brak or Bozac44, but that's as far as I'm willing to go (Bozac doesn't drink, and I live on Earth). Wink

I'm guessing Henry is ROFLHFAO (pardon my French...I know some of you speak French).
If scoop were to die, one of us would simply take his place, assume his identity and continue the cause. This is how it has been done for centuries. There have been dozens of scoops through the years, each replaced upon their demise, each running an internet forum. This goes all the way back to the Revolutionairy War....many believe Ben Franklin was the original scoop.....or was it Poor Richard.

I told "Devil Dog" would love to see his Wonderlic score. I am not sure he got it!

I saw the post, but had no idea what it meant. I did not respond to it because it involved DD, nor did I post on the eulogy for OS.

I never bought into whatever it was that they were trying to sell.

It was an honor that neither of them liked me.
JZ, that's why I posted DD would like to know your Wonderlic score, since Old Sarge had several heated disagreements with you and said many times that you never knew anything about football. I saw the same style in the DAWG that I saw in Old Sarge, concluding they must be one and the same; and that's why I made reference to DAWG'S interest in your wonderlic score. It was metaphoric in nature and no insult on my part was intended, other than an eerie connection with what had been said by Devil Dawg and "Lazarus."

No, it was spelling smack, because I typed "is scoop died" instead of "if scoop died".

You know what, that's so petty. You don't even deserve us. Razzer

Hey, Coach...tell Bozac44 to post...the 90 bajillion dollars I owe him will arrive as soon as Drew and I can have lunch with him. Smiler
I have to admit, I guess, to being duped, though that would mean I was heavily involved in it in someway, which I wasn't. I barely paid attention. That said, when I did read his/her/its posts I was mostly turned-off by the b.s. militarism, and thought he was just another angry crank, better off avoided, left to his own misery. I felt the same way about whatever her name was as well. The gruffness mixed with the sentimentality was way too much for me.

Even if I did tell him, he won't listen....he's too busy playing "Battlefield Vietnam". I can't even seem to get him over for Mrs. Coach's cooking any more (she's in culinary school too at the moment).

I'm sure he'd eventually appreciate the fundage so he can close the books, but I think it'll be the last check you'll have to send since the last I heard the league is breaking up (I've retired from FF, and I think he's weary from the (minor) headaches of running it).

At least I won't have to hope for points from players I despise any longer.

QUOTE]

Reminds me of a joke our pastor told last Sunday - (paraphrased somewhat)

It is well known that in heaven, the gates are made of pearl and the streets of gold. One day, a wealthy man with a large fortune in gold passed away, AND he actually figured out a way to "take it with him". Upon arriving at the pearly gates, St. Peter approached, took one look at all the gold the man had brought, and asked, "why did you drag along all this pavement with you?"
Edit: [Oops, didn't realize this posted before I was done. See completed post a few spaces below! I'd delete this but then Tooner's quote of it wouldn't make sense.]

I guess I did wonder what was up when I found out that Peekaboo (who claimed to think a lot of me) and I would be at the same Lambeau game, and there were suddenly all sorts of reasons why it would be totally impossible for her to meet me anywhere before, during, or after the game. It would have seemed from some of our conversations that she would have tried much harder to meet. But this I never would have guessed. I guess because there didn't seem to be a "gain" involved in all this. I usually am quite a suspicious detective in those types of situations. I'd have been much more suspicious if, say, they were offering to sell us items for the special diet, or raise funds for the Marine Retirement Fund or something.

I don't really know what was out there to be gained by pretending to be a dedicated, if feisty, military family on a football forum, W

I followed a forum for guinea pigs for a while once and even they had a resident troll who only looked for trouble.

I mean.... why?

I was on chatting with Henry and a few other folks (who he was having a not what you would call a friendly conversation with) one night and Henry stepped way over the line. I'll leave it at the fact that he was definately way over the line.

I think this post pretty much sums it up the best. I'd love to end this thread with this.

This covers it pretty well. There was one other time in my life when I was taken in on this kind of thing by a con-artist/pathological liar with no apparent stake to gain by creating suppsedly true "storylines" out of whole cloth. This person had a brilliant mind, a disability and resultant low income level that kept her from being out in "real life" much, and so played all the messed-up neighbors and their already soapish lives against one another with things the others were supposedly saying about each other, and doing behind their backs, while she was the "confidant" of each, including me. I guess it gave her some version of a "life".

I guess I did wonder what was up when I found out that Peekaboo (who claimed to think a lot of me) and I would be at the same Lambeau game, and tried to arrange to meet as I'd done with many others, and there were suddenly all sorts of reasons why it would be totally impossible for her to meet me anywhere before, during, or after the game. As to who is who on x4:
Despite confusion to the contrary, I am not Legend, though there have been times I've suspected I might be Lazyboy. Wink

I have met many posters in real life and I am relieved to be able to categorically say that I am not any of them. Big Grin It is rather somewhat of a relief to be able to comfort myself today with the knowledge that at least I know that LB, VG, CH (and the rest of the broken equipment clan), ammo, DD [Durango Doug], PB, I2H and S2, japf, GBLinda, Tooner, Packerbelle, FAN2, and a number of others are actually tangible, corporeal people and not the product of the imagination of some troubled would-be novelist who spends hours spinning out fake lives on the web.

who says this person was even a Marine to begin with? i mean it seems he/she/it has a multiple personality disorder...fabricating a false idenity obviously is not a problem for this person/people..
It is a very common thing for people to create a false military service record. Some of them are people who served in the military and some are not. I would say it is a growing trend.

One big hint is if they use their service to promote a political agenda.

I got a few "Odd" IM's from peek. I am former Navy and was asking about some details. I am surprised that I missed the clues about her. Now, Old Sarge seemed real to me...boy was I wrong. Still, it has nothing to do with the Green Bay Packers.
As far as politics go, I make my own decisions based on my life and my perceptions. My (oft-interupted) military career has nothing to do with it.
