There's a lawsuit that claims players were/are medicated and anesthetized for what are normally incapacitating injuries,so they can get on the field. How likely is it that these teams would look at an xray of something that MIGHT cause a problem in the FUTURE and rule a player out for life? Especially holding plausible deniability?
FU Smiley! Jerk.
Headed back to visit WI with the family the 18th through the 28th. Perfect timing. They're not going to be happy when I blow a full day in GB. Whatever. Can't be in WI and not make that trip.
Franklin and Murphy both suffered their career-ending injuries on kick returns. That's a dangerous job.
Wonder if Rodgers cracks the Top 3.
I'd put Rodgers at 5.
- Lacy
- Tretter/Linsley (Whomever starts at C)
- Jordy Nelson (or Cobb)
- Julius Peppers (Pass rush by D-Line in general)
- You know who
Surely you jest.
Surely Shirley you jest.
FTFY
"No, and stop calling me Surely!"
Rodgers #1 by eons.
Packers win-loss record without Rodgers would be much less than the same without Lacy, for example.
The list is called "Most Important Packers", not "Most Important Packer Players".

I think it's somethin' like Sheepshead ya hey.
It's sort of funny, but by Rodgers missing about 1/2 of last season, I thought he proved his value even more than he has in seasons he did play the whole year. The difference in the Packers with Rodgers compared to without him was astounding. It was especially apparent when Seneca Wallace and Scott Tolzien were in there. If Flynn hadn't been available, the team didn't look capable of another victory with those other 2 guys at QB.
I can understand #11 in some ways as Rodgers just didn't provide as much value as some guys who played the full 16 games. That said, you could make a case for #1 as his absence showed just how important he really is, and just how much better he is at QB than just about anyone else out there.
It's not top 100 from 2013... but of 2014. And yes, these lists/rankings are summertime filler that mean nothing.
I think the top 100 list is right on, judging from who has not been feature their top ten will be right on for Madden football. 23 days to the opening of Packer training camp.
These lists must really drive clicks. There can't be any other reason they exist. I have no idea why any respectable sports operation would put something out there like this. To say Aaron Rodgers is the 11th best player in the NFL is ****ing moronic. And the NFLN comes off looking moronic.
If we polled 32 GM's and asked them who they're starting a franchise with AR is 1st off the board 98% of the time. And 98% might be conservative.
Agreed. I would guess that perhaps the only guy that a GM may take first instead would be Luck, and that's only because he's much younger - not because he's better right now.
If women were making the choice between Luck and Rodgers?

Isn't the NFL Network countdown based on polling the players? If so, blame the players for any rankings you deem moronic.
I imagine Rodgers has a Chip on the Shoulder Wall at home that he stares at all night as he plots his revenge.
For the most part, the players are moronic. But I think we've all known that for a while now. And the NFLN still comes off looking moronic for coming up with the idea and running with it. But based on the dust up this has caused I guess NFLN is perfectly ok with their handy work.
Meanwhile, somewhere Skip Bayless is thinking up way's to grab some of this attention back.
Rinse. Repeat.
9/4/14 -- Rodgers with a sh!t eating grin during the postgame after bitch slappin' the Seahawks: "Well, I was only the 11th best player out there tonight."

That sounds just like him, actually.
In his second year in the NFL. Julius Peppers watched Adam Vinatieri kick a FG with 4 seconds left and lose a Super Bowl. He probably thought he'd have plenty more chances with a young gunslinger like Jake Delhomme at QB. Jake went straight to **** and then Green Bay crushed his dreams in 2010 and then again in 2013.
On or about his 3rd day in camp its going to hit home that ring is right in front of him. And kids like Worthy, Perry, Boyd, Malumba, Bradford, Clinton-Dix, Neal, Hayward, Thornton, Jones, and Barrington are going to watch a decorated All-Pro freak of nature work his ass off and tell them all to take full advantage of the ridiculous fortune of being on this team at this time because that ring is a true bitch to get.
I didnt get his signing when it happened. I get it now.
On the other hand, how many game changing QBs are there in the NFL? 4? 5?
The point to make is in this day and age the QB determines overall success and failure more than any other position.
If you have an elite QB - and the Packers have one - the field is always tilted in your favor. A guy like Watt does not come close to having that kind of impact and this is why these lists are meaningless
Now, if it were LT in his prime maybe that's different but I am not even sure he would be as important today due to rule changes and scheming and wide open passing games
He makes $20 million a year and dates Olivia Munn. Something tells me he'll get over being ranked 11th in a meaningless poll.
Jeff Hostetler, Brad Johnson & Mark Rypien all won a SB too. They all musta been elite.
Mark Rypien was playing at an elite level at the time. IIRC, he was the regular season and SB MVP that season. Flacco was playing at an elite level in the playoffs a couple of years ago.
Go down the list and show me SB-winning QBs who are more like Brad Johnson/Dilfer/Hostetler and compare them to the number of elite QBs like Rodgers/Montana/etc. It's not a close comparison.

Not too many scrubs here.
I guess I was mistaken, seems Jeff Hostetler is an elite QB.
I have to rethink that whole if you were to start a team who would be your first choice... I used to always say Reggie White now it's a toss-up between Hostetler & Rypien.
A guy like Dilfer might win a SB here or there but that's not the norm. Look at how many elite or HOF quarterbacks are on that list. The vast majority.
There are exceptions - but those are explainable too. Dilfer had a once in a decade defense backing him up. Simms had LT and the Big Tuna, etc.
