Trgovac shown the door when his position group was easily the best unit on the defense.  Typical McCarthy there.  It makes sense as Trgovac was likely brought in by Capers and so he wasn't McCarthy's guy.

I sure hope Moss is out since the assistant linebacker coach got fired.  Packer's own website states that McCurley, and I quote, "McCurley works in support of associate head coach/linebackers Winston Moss to oversee the direction and preparation of all linebackers for the Packers’ 3-4 defense with an emphasis on the inside linebackers."  Don't know how the Packers could scapegoat him and Moss survives.  Especially if McCurley was actually the inside linebacker coach because of the young linebackers (Martinez, Ryan, Fackrell, Biegel), Martinez looks like the best one.

Well at least this gives me the opportunity to piss and moan just a bit more about Fontenot.  Firing him sure did fix the tight end position, didn't it!

Got a bad feeling about this. Moss next DC ?? Did Moss and Trgo not get along ??

Per Demovsky, "Mike McCarthy will consider both external and internal candidates to replace fired defensive coordinator Dom Capers. Joe Whitt and Darren Perry would be at the top of the internal candidate list."

Internet searched for defensive coordinator candidates and various sites listed Rex Ryan, Gus Bradley, Mike Pettine, John Pagano, Mike Nolan, Adam Zimmer and Micheal Barrow.  Zimmer (Vikings linebacker coach) and Barrow (Seahawks linebacker coach) have no NFL defensive coordinator experience.  I've added the NFL defensive coordinator statistics for the other five to the post at the bottom of page 1.

Cranked the numbers for the last 8 Packer defensive coordinators starting with the Mike Holmgren era.  As you can tell by the number of seasons, it's only counts their time as the Packers defensive coordinator.

Ray Rhodes - 2 seasons = 12.5 / 12 / 10.5 / 11.67

Fritz Shurmur - 5 seasons = 6.4 / 5.2 / 13.8 / 8.46

Emmitt Thomas - 1 season = 19 / 20 / 3 / 14

Ed Donatell - 4 seasons = 14 / 10.5 / 8 / 10.83

Bob Slowik - 1 season = 25 / 23 / 31 / 26.33

Jim Bates - 1 season = 7 / 19 / 26 / 17.33

Bob Sanders - 3 seasons = 14.33 / 17.67 / 11.33 / 14.44

Dom Capers - 9 seasons = 16.56 / 15 / 10.89 / 14.15

Greene left to be with family but I think he went to the Jets relatively quick. Wonder if there was a riff between him and Dom or Mike?

obviously if it was the Dom he’d would be very high in my list. Some of defense best work was when he was on staff.

Don't see how they could promote Whitt when the weakest part of our defense has been pass coverage.

You should read Charles Woodson's twitter timeline from today. He thinks Whitt would be a very good choice and has some strong arguments as to why.

I'm not so sure CHI will let Fangio go.

His contract is up. He's a "free agent."

If CHI was run by competent people, I would say "a bird in hand".  They may take his cell phone away and lock him in his office.

I've also read Fangio has no interest in being a HC.

Now reportedly interviewing for CHI HC.  Guess he changed his mind.  Good thing is, if turns out not to be a good HC candidate I would guess he leaves CHI.

Lofty and probably unrealistic goal from MM.
