Looks like he's a Brown

Steady as she goes. We can still draft an ILB if we want.

If you don't believe that, then you aren't paying attention to the DEVELOP portion of the draft & develop philosophy.

3 years $21 million. Don't know the terms yet but it must be at least $10-$11 million guaranteed. No way he gets anywhere near that in Green Bay.

Congrats Tramon. Thanks for everything you did in Green Bay, especially that 2010 season. My god you were on another level

The Browns? Really, Tramon? What was the Packers offer? Cobb gave a home team discount, that was nice, to stay with a winner.  The Browns???

We could bulk up the pass rush as well. But I trust that on the issue of CB's TT knows what he is doing. It is an area he has excelled at. How much money do the Packers have under the Cap?

That makes me feel better seeing those numbers.  Good for Tramon.  He got his ring and he got paid one last time.

As for the Packer's secondary......I'm a little worried.  Unless that CB from Baylor they drafted last year has a huge leap, they've got a gaping hole at LCB.  Jumps to a huge need fro 2015, along with ILB.

I think we would have picked a CB in the first two rounds even Tramon had stayed. We have had depth issues before and Whitt has been able to coach up young players to make an impact immediately (looking at you Shields, Hayward, and Hyde).

Ron Wolf & Al Davis said a long time ago.....

"You can never have enough DB's...."

Al Davis believed the best way to build a team was CornerBack. That was back in the 60's & 70's when defense mattered.

I'm surprised Tramon got that much but not surprised it came from the Factory of Sadness.

Even if Green Bay offered 2 years $8 mill all of it guaranteed, it probably can't touch the deal he just got. So good for him. He's a good guy & I'm happy for him.

The Packers moved up in the draft to grab Casey Hayward

I don't believe they see him as "slot only" and he surely doesn't either

With the Packers/Capers leaning towards a 3 safety nickle, the role of slot was handled mostly by Hyde last season.

Hayward/Goodson/draft pick/undrafted can compete for the LCB spot and the reason they kept Goodson is because of his man-coverage skills. GB doesn't play much cover-2 so they can't hide poor DBs like some teams. They want a guy who they can leave on an island, if needed

That some are worried about the future is to be expected, but none of us ever heard of Tramon or Shields and they both contributed heavily to a SB run.... despite being undrafted

Joe Whitt will coach em up, R-E-L-A-X

And in today's NFL, I believe it's the trenches. Your OL and DL are ultimately where games are won/lost even though few of those players will ever get the credit.

If GB can find the answer at ILB, shore up the run defense much like was done in the 2nd half of 2014, and create a consistent pass rush....

Then even average secondaries will look a whole lot better than they actually are.

It's too bad the last image of Tramon in a Packer uniform is getting beat on the play that ended the NFC Championship game.

The better images occurred in the 2010-11 playoffs. He broke up the pass that clinched the Super Bowl win and picked off Michael Vick in the end zone to clinch that playoff game. And his pick six at the end of the first half against Atlanta was the dagger there.

In the Seattle game, it wasn't bad coverage and it was a tough assignment, but he was just a half step short against a below average NFL receiver. 32 to 34 year old corners don't get faster. It was time to move on anyway, and the price was too much.

Tightwad Ted gets a Free Agent Savings Bonus if he doesn't use his budget for free agency.

Someone made the comment (don't remember who) and it's the fact of the matter: GB signed the best WR and best RT available in free agency. Just because they were with GB last year doesn't mean squat...all that means is their contracts ended with GB and we got first crack at signing them and that's what happened.

He didn't thank Capers first. He thanked Lori Berrand and the American Cancer Society. A certain someone that punches kids in their cancer went unmentioned though. Makes you wonder.

Well, not everyone wishes Tramon well on his way to Cleveland.

Jason Ruszer@ruszerJR16

I DON'T wish u luck I wish u a torn acl and many years of missing the playoffs #0Picks#CantCoverAnyone#CutYourHair

Last I read, it was @ $21M.

I don't think Tramon had any bearing on this, as his contract was fulfilled. IOW, no dead money, but no gain to the cap.

Anyone please correct me if this is wrong.

Correct, TW was an UFA so he was no longer on the cap hit for the 2015 year. And, they are ~ $21mm under.

There will still be some vet cuts and Thompson may still sign somebody (non homegrown) this off-season. Looking ahead to the Packers 2016 FA class I wouldn't expect though that Thompson will spend a lot of this $21mm on FA. There are a few players who could see extensions/new deals during the upcoming season.

Jennings says he would "definitely reconcile with Packers"

At this stage, there's no reason to suspect a reunion is in the offing. However, if the team felt it needed to add a reliable receiver to backup its starting trio of Nelson, Cobb and Davante Adams, Jennings could indeed be an option.

But Gerg, but what about all that brain washing????

I don't have the problems with Jennings some others do, sure, I'd take him back in a heartbeat.  The only thing is he is still Greg Jennings, and I can't imagine him coming back to Green Bay on his terms.  Ted's terms would be, "we don't need you, but we would be willing to pay for a 4th wide receiver".  Jennings will get better offers on the market (dollars and years), and who could blame him for getting what money he can.  If money didn't matter, sure, he'd be nice to see in Green and Gold, but we know money matters, so I can't see him willing to come back for what Ted would be willing to offer.

I think much of Gerg's butthurt beyond you know, the constant brainwashing, was that he likely along with his Sis believed he would put up SB season numbers anywhere and thus that's what warranted his 15 mil a season salary.

Jennings is yet another in a long line of examples that when you are playing with a HOF QB who is arguably the best in the NFL, it is he who makes you look a lot better then perhaps you really are, not the other way around.

Take nothing away from Jordy or Cobb's talents. They are without a doubt there. But they also have to thank for at least some of that contract money they got.

And that reality was a pretty hard pill for Gerg and family to swallow.
