Crosby is the most clutch non clutch kicker I can think of and for the most part that's just fine with me.  I'm glad they brought him back

You put him in game winning situations - that's where he's no Adam Viniteri

I've got this feeling Ted is going to gobsmack all of us with a stealth recruitment/signing of significance before the week is out. Remember quite well the Saturday am signing of Peppers two years ago which came completely out of right field. Feeling a similar vibe these days.

Wasn't it established that the attempted game winning kick was off of the ginger's hand? I remember a picture.

No.  We all thought that while the kick was happening....but slo-mo replay proved it was just a schitty kick.  It happens.

That Seattle playoff loss should dispel any questions about Crosby...

Exactly. The meltdown obscured a clutch performance by Crosby. He hit a 48 yard FG to put that game into overtime after hitting a 48 yarder earlier in the 4th quarter.

Don't forget about hitting the 33 yard XP to put the game into OT this year.

Also, a game tying 37 yard field goal in the arctic conditions of the Giants NFC championship game in his rookie year in 2007.

His memorable misses in the regular season do stick out  - the Lions game at home this past year is an example. I think at least I seem to remember the misses more than the clutch makes.

But in the playoffs he's been money. 23 of 25 on FGs in his career and 49 for 49 in extra points. His two misses were from 50 yards off the upright in the 2010 Falcons playoff game and from 54 yards against the Cardinals in 2009 (the face mask game). He's at 92% in the playoffs. Just for comparison, Vinatieri is 56 for 68 in the playoffs for 82% (we just remember the Super Bowl and Brady/Woodson non-fumble kicks a lot more than we do the misses).

Hmmm.

@RapSheet: The #Packers signed G Lane Taylor to a 2-year deal worth $4.15M, source said. He gets $600K guaranteed.

Interesting. Ted thinking long term with Lang and Sitton ??

Otherwise, $2M for back-up work is a good gig if you can get it. #oldmanyelling

Lane Taylor for $2m/yr......can't say I really like that move.  To me, he's been nothing but a veteran minimum guy that can be replaced pretty easily.  I actually thought Josh Walker was better at guard last year (at least I think it was Josh Walker.....).

Good.

@TomSilverstein: #Packers have officially tendered ERFA @Chris1Banjo. He's leader of special teams and a reliable backup. He'll be an RFA after this year.

\ Luke has always seemed legit to me, probably see this go down late tomorrow or never.

When has Source ever been wrong?

Agree on Bennett. He's been a douche on every team he's been on and whined a lot last season despite Cutler actually having a fairly decent year.  He might make Jermichael Finley look like Donald Driver in comparison attitude.

Lane Taylor contract is really surprising.  I thought the Packers really needed to bring in two offensive linemen in the draft, but the five starters plus Tretter and Taylor brings it to 7...and Rotheram/Walker still in the mix.  It seems most of the time they just have 8 on the 53-man.  I don't think they can draft two now, doesn't appear they'll have enough roster spots to do so.

Agree, it is curious that their on pace to keep the same OL group as last year, seeing as it was the weak link of the entire team (along with WR).  Still can see them taking an OT early though, as they need depth plus you have Bakhtiari hitting free agency.

Bennet is interesting.  No doubt he's a hell do a talent but if the Packers trade for him, it'd be 4 teams in 9 years.  Talent like that doesn't see that many teams unless there are serious attitude issues.

Could also mean that next year is Sitton's last year in Green Bay.  Four free agents but Ted won't let all four get away.  It's also not very likely he brings all four back.  Bakhtiari is the youngest and is the starting left tackle so he'll likely be the #1 priority.  Sitton is the oldest, battled back problems last year and will demand a pretty significant salary...it probably makes the most sense to let him go.  Would be a real shame because he's been a great Packer.

So if Ted sees Taylor as legitimate starting material then it's Sitton in 2016, Taylor in 2017 and perhaps beyond that if he proves he can get the job done.

See: T.O.
         Randy Moss
         Percy Harvin

Just depends on what his brand of crazy is. If he's a lockerroom cancer or a drugy then it's a hard pass. If he's just an asshole who runs his mouth and wears out his welcome, that's tolerable for a season or two.

It's Tanner McEvoy.   Put  some weight on and switch him to TE,  plus he can be an emergency QB if needed.

I don't know if you can ever make him into a "real" TE as he's 6'6" 220 lbs. For comparison, Gronk is 6'6" 265. However, he should be an excellent red zone option for some team as a late round pick. If nothing else, run him out for Hail Mary plays at the end of games (both offense and defense).

Derek Watt, to replace Kuhn.

Correction- Watt would be there to replace Quarless.

Rip is there to replace Kuhn

Or, a combo long snapper/H-back

So these (former) Packers players are now FA's.

QB Scott Tolzien

RB James Starks (I'd try to [re]sign)

FB John Kuhn

WR James Jones  (I'd try to [re]sign)

TE Andrew Quarless

T Don Barclay

DT B.J. Raji (I'd try to [re]sign)

OLB Mike Neal (I'd try to [re]sign)

OLB Nick Perry (I'd try to [re]sign)

OLB Andy Mulumba

CB Casey Hayward

S Sean Richardson

LS Brett Goode

Likely, Thompson had already submitted what he believes are fair market offers to those he wants back. Now he'll let the other teams over pay if they so desire.

This should calm the natives.

OR that he was not even worthy of the term "free agent". Might still be considered a practice squad type guy.
