Bears fans' Optimism Index in Doc Jennings is probably like Wall Street in early October 1929 right now. Revisit their level of enthusiasm four weeks into the season.

And, he wasn't the worst safety on our 53 man roster. If that doesn't tell you something about that position since Collins got hurt, I don't know what will.

This is precisely why I would have been cool with TT spending stupid money on Jairus Byrd. I, as a fan can't take another season of safety play like we've had for the better part of the last three seasons.

Cobb, Jordy, Tramon, Raji, Barclay, Bulaga, Bush, Sherrod, Lattimore, House, Banjo, and DuJuan Harris. Packer 2015 Free Agents.

Tempting to spend big money on a FA safety this year but there's some guy's on that list that can't be allowed to leave.

Cobb, Jordy and......? I'd like to see Tramon and likely Bulaga (or possibly Sherrod) back from that list but it's not like most aren't just cogs.

Two Words: Chris Conte

Two more: Major Wright

Jennings is actually an improvement if he has to play, otherwise he's a solid special teamer.

Barclay is a RFA. So is Boykin in 2015. The rest are all UFA's.

On a more positive note, we are about 717 days away from AJ Hawk and Brad Jones becoming unrestricted free agents. But who's counting.

Other than his nice coverage on Cobb that put GB in the playoffs I'm not that familiar with Conte, but the same rule of thumb applies with the Bears: if Doc Jennings is starting at safety you've got secondary issues.

TT will be giving them multi-year extensions any day now.

I'd love to know what why other teams are interested.

FTFY. Kuhn's value to any other team outside of Green Bay is almost nil. Good guy but his value in Green Bay isn't much higher.

The ones his agent is calling. I'd bet the interest is one-way other than with the Packers.

Of course, there is also blocking in the backfield, such as Kuhn's awesome block of Peppers.

He'd make a great coach. I wish he and Al Harris and Ahman Green and Donald Driver and Charles Woodson and AJ Hawk and Mark Tauscher and Aaron Kampman and Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila and Ryan Pickett would all get together and form a super group coaching staff. Like the Traveling Wilburys of coaching staffs.

They are no James Campen.

Packers still want Jolly back, but are in holding pattern with Finley

March 25, 2014 4:29 p.m

Jolly is on the rehab trail and recently was cleared for more extensive workouts. He is three months removed from surgery and could be ready in time for training camp if the surgery mends well and X-rays show that there is no unusual risk of his spinal cord being damaged.

"We're monitoring that," McCarthy said of Jolly's recovery. "I think Johnny did a nice job last year. You have to be very pleased for where he started and where he finished. I think he gave us every inch of what he had and then some. I was very pleased with Johnny's contribution last year." continue

Jolly's status might depend on what the Packers do in the draft. If they wind up taking a couple of defensive linemen, chances are they wouldn't need Jolly. The already have B.J. Raji, Mike Daniels, Letroy Guion, Jerel Worthy, Datone Jones and Jerel Worthy on the roster.

If there's only room for one of 'em, which one do you keep?

A pair of identical twins walks into a bar.  Immediately, one of the drunks at the bar gets a shocked expression on his face.

"It's OK," one of the twins says.  "We're twins."

"Oh, good," says the drunk.  "For a minute there, I thought I was seeing four of everything!"

I'd keep the first Jerel Worthy because the send JW is hurt and add Josh Boyd - unless you don't think Boyd stands a chance to stick.
