So far my biggest negative I’m reading is Pettine’s view of success. β€œIs this guy gonna make me money??? If you lose trust of a player they just tune you out?!?!?!?

What D Coordinator that’s ever amounted to anything ever said or felt that way??? Can we fire him again?

There's a crazy story Hafley tells in the video above where he was actually hired by the Buffalo Bills by Pettine.  It was a grueling two day interview.  Hafley gets the job and after getting ready to move, finally flies up to Buffalo in the middle of a snowstorm to start his job.  After he arrives he gets a call from Pettine telling him he actually just left Buffalo and took a job with Cleveland and Hafley should come down and work for him there instead.  Pettine never told Hafley any of this before hand.

But Hafley just signed his contract with Buffalo and Pettine took all the assistants with him to Cleveland so now nobody he met in Buffalo during his interview still works there.

Coach in Buffalo tells Hafley that Pettine mentioned he wanted to take him to Cleveland and that he can go if he wants to.  So Hafley gets on a plane to Cleveland the same day to go work there instead.

Just an Insane story and makes me think Pettine is a fucking dolt.

Sherman also called Love a bust before he had even started a game as the starter. He sounded pretty certain about that proclamation.

Did he work with Love on a day to day basis?  I can't stand Sherman, but he has a lot more familiarity with his position coach. I don't see him as a guy that shares praise over someone he doesn't care for and was an established vet when Hafely earned his respect. It's an anecdote that can be put in the positive bucket for Hafely, imo.

From Silverstein at JSO. Interesting development, looks like the Packers defensive asst’s WILL be looking for jobs:

”Hafley's hiring will likely mean some changes on the defensive staff. LaFleur has told the assistants they are free to explore other options, a source said, but he probably will have to sit down with Hafley and find out how many coaches he wants to bring in from outside. When Barry was hired, LaFleur kept everyone on staff and didn't let Barry bring in people he knew and trusted.”

Just pointing out that he's been wildly wrong before. I hope he's right in this case regardless.

This is something to think about right here.  I have a quite a few die hard O$U fan friends and they all got in touch with me saying that their defense regressed without him after he left.

I am willing to give him a benefit of the doubt because he demands press coverage and no soft shell zones anymore.

Sherman is trying to make a name for himself on the TV sports shows as an analyst. If this coach, or any other person, had anything to do with the 49ers, Sherman would be singing his praises. Sherman railed against the Packers after they lost to the 49ers. I do not think he and I watched the same game. The Packers could have won that game, not that Sherman would ever admit it.
