About 15 minutes ago I saw what I thought was a 10 minute segment about the Packers on NFL Network. But they didn't do their homework. They think that "Randall, who only played S in college is projected to be the starting CB in Tramon Williams place". NOT TRUE. Randall is not the projected starter. Last I heard Casey Hayward is the "projected" starter. Also, Randall was a CB in college. He played S his Senior year because it was best for his team. I knew that before the draft. So there were words about how difficult a transition Randall would have to make, etc. But oddly enough no mention about the DL issues, or about how TE might be an issue. Lots of praise for the offense - but made it sound like Bulaga was signed from another team in FA. Lots of talk about getting back to a SB.
Randall played free safety and boundary safety at ASU. The last time he played a true corner position was in community college.
My information said he played CB as a Junior. That is all I know. I saw a senior game but not a junior game where he was a focus for me.
Yeah, saw the piece today. It was not impressive. It seemed to me that it was nothing but a piece on the Super Bowl potential of this team. No news there.
There was no live footage of practice. But I sure see lots of camera time in Dallas, Cleveland, etc.
Let's talk wide receivers. I look into my crystal ball and see these guys playing:
Jordy, Cobb, Adams, Monty, Myles White.
I was hoping Abbrederis would make the team, but I'm starting to doubt he can take the hits and stay on the field. Hearing that Jordy has had high praise for Larry Pinkard makes me wonder about him, as well.
What do you guys think? And do you see us with 5 WR's, or possibly 6?
Heard a part of an interview with Montgomery today. The kid sounded very grounded and smart. I can't wait to see him play.
Yep, that is the one only I heard it on the radio on a program called Titletown Report. It's a daily report on our local radio station throughout the season.

After âŠ#âPackers⎠veteran Casey Hayward, who will most likely line-up alongside Sam Shields at cornerback for the 2015 Packers? #23 1st round pick Damarious Randall has the best overall technique, agility, but can be fooled as he moves from safety to corner. #36 LaDarius Gunter is the 6-2" undrafted free agent from Miami who has great instinct, made the most "splash" plays by far in camp, but may be guilty of a lot of holding, grabbing, PI. #24 2nd round pick Quinten Rollins has impressed the coaches with his questions, study habits, and skill, but got a late start in camp due to a hamstring. #39 Demetri Goodson, to me, has shown very little progress following his inactive rookie season, and the most likely to be released. This could all change Thursday night in New England - MIKE CLEMENS
Good story on two UDFA linebackers. GD, do you think they stick based on what you saw in camp?

Positive reports on Josh Walker at Guard...
Time could be running out for Bradford and Thornton
A less positive report and one I completely agree with. Either one makes the final cut and I'll be shocked.

I do. Both Rasco and Vaughters have impressed in the times that I've seen them in practice. Thinking both of them should earn spots on this roster.
As for Carl Bradford, I watched him play for ASU for years. He was incredible, and I believe he is far better than he's gotten a chance to show. Hopefully, he can turn it around in the preseason games and prove he belongs.
They're also in a crowded OLB field. They only kept 6 or 7 OLBs on the roster last year and we didn't lose anyone. They moved Palmer to ILB, but we're still looking at CM, Peppers, Neal, Perry, Elliot, Mulumba right now plus a guy like Hubbard who has improved and is waiting in the wings. It's a numbers game, so if these guys stick it will have to be on IR or the PS.
I agree that both UDFA OLBs will stick on the roster... if the roster to expanded from 53 to 70.

So, who do you drop to keep Rasco and Vaughters ? Usually they keep 6 or 7 OLB's on the final roster. So if you keep them you have to drop two of the following : Clay, Peppers, Neal, Perry, Elliot, Mulumba, or Hubbard. Looking forward to seeing if one or both can displace Mulumba, Elliot, or Hubbard.
I agree with Grave Digger's assessment in that they are indeed rookies, and are a touch underdeveloped, and you can see them thinking, a lot. However, I find them to be a bit more impressive and effective in spite of that. Rasco does have good size to step right in. Vaughters is a bit smaller, but he certainly brings it.
I see Perry out. I will be shocked if he makes this 2015 team. That leave one fighting with Hubbard, Neal, Mulumba and Elliott for a spot on the roster. My thinking is both win positions with probably Perry and Mulumba out. Maybe Neal if he fails to show in preseason. It is possible Neal buys the PUP. Tough cuts, no doubt. To me, Vaughters' STs resume is a trump card.
This is just my speculation. No one knows right now. Good depth is a good problem to have, and I believe we have good depth there.
OLB, ILB and CB are our biggest battles, without question.
I agree with GD on Gaston too. I think he will win a roster spot, maybe at the expense of Thornton and/or Boyd. Hoping for great things from Ringo too.

Sounds like Peppers will pick his spots even more this season, I'm not sure how it might impact the roster numbers.
-----
Julius Peppers has been known to take plays off here and there. Now, the Green Bay Packers are considering just removing him from the field on occasion.
Itâs the less is more theory.
Peppers is 35 and although he still played at a high level in 2014, heâs certainly no spring chicken. The coaching staff may limit Peppersâ snaps in order to keep him fresh, with an eye on him making an impact at crucial points within the game and, more importantly, late in the season and in the playoffs.
Julie seems to be buying into the idea.
âItâs a tough call,â he said. âAs a player, I donât want to come off the field. But obviously, when Iâm out there and if Iâm playing less and I could save a little energy certain times of the game, maybe I could be more productive and more efficient in those situations.
âWe just have to figure it out. Weâll figure something out and hopefully it will work.â
Perry is safe. He's flashed enough to keep the coaches interested in him. This is a make/break year for him and he will be more intent than ever on showing GB or any future team what he can bring.
DH13, I think you are in the majority on Perry keeping a roster spot. I just don't see it. Even when healthy he produced marginal results, at best. I believe we have far better talent waiting behind him to get their chance to really produce.
He'll get cut and will sign with Minneesooota eh!
I think when he's been in there and healthy (though few and far between) he's done some really good things. He can seal the edge and is stout vs. run and has a great club move when rushing the Q. He sorely needs more in his rush repertoire and needs to stay on the field.
Perry is the best run defender among the OLB. He will definitely stick around. Just wish he wasn't so pedestrian as a pass rusher.
Perry would make a helluva 4-3 DE. It isn't his skillset, he's a solid player with a crazy bull rush. He just can't stay healthy.
I kind of hate you for posting that.
WIZARD!

That's because there's something interesting going on there, from a casual, national perspective. In Green Bay there's maybe a little intrigue at ILB and possibly at CB, but QB, RB, and WR are set. Dallas has questions at RB and #2 wideout, Cleveland has Johnny Rehab and questions all over the place.
No news is good news. SO BORING UNCLE TRANNY TED! Superb Owl home fries!
Perry cant make the club in the tub. He needs to get over this groin thing, or whatever it is, and get on the field. I could see him going on some kind of PUP list, or IR designated to return or something if he does not heal up soon. Has he even practised yet this year?
Fantastinc article on MM and family.
23yo Alex is hot.
Wow! Is that his offspring, or his step-daughter? Hard to believe that came from stupid face his loins.
Only child from first marriage. There is definitely a resemblance.
Myles White vs. Jeff Janis is going to be the hardest decision on the team. Ultimately I think either they keep both or Janis wins. Hate to see a guy like White gone, he's a talented player.
Bustin Sherrod
Bustin Perry
Datone "Bustin" Jones
The two remaining members of the triumvirate of disappointment will probably get one more season to show something. IMO JMO
I too think Perry has been productive when able to play, especially pass rushing from the right side. I think they keep him.
