The bottom line problem with AR is that he wants to run an offense a particular way that has shown to be...unsuccessful...the last 3? years he's tried to run it.  So I doubt any organization that is good enough to assemble a team that is only a QB short would be willing to bring AR in and have him demand he run his choice of offense.  SF had a shot to get AR two years ago and they passed.  Doubt they'd have more interest now unless they were desperate.

He's tried to run this offense his way for about five years, and it's been unsuccessful. The only reason it was successful his last years in GB was because he had Adams and a better OL. If GB had what the Jets have, it wouldn't have been successful then either. It's more like Rodgers' last year in GB was the last hurrah of his offense, and that's when he was a better player than he is now. The offense he's running hasn't evolved -- it's still built around him and one WR, with hopefully a decent RB. Plus, he's just not the same player he was before to compensate for the shortcomings.

More change in New York: Jets now have fired GM Joe Douglas, sources tell ESPN.

Last month, head coach Robert Saleh. Now, Douglas.

Itโ€™s a complete reboot for the Jets.

Well, they do have that nagging problem of a 49 million dollar dead cap hit next year if they move on from Rodgers, so it's not a complete reboot. Either he's still there and costing them 23 million in cap space or they move on which costs them 49 million in cap space.

D. Adams will be 33 years old in 2025 and have a 38 million dollar cap hit or they release him and have 8 million in dead cap.

Allan Lazard has a 13 million dollar cap charge in 2025 with a 6.5 million dollar dead cap charge.

DJ Mosley will be 33, has been hurt most of this year, and has a 13 million cap hit and a 16 million dollar dead cap next year.

They also will be missing 3rd round picks both of the next two years for the D. Adams trade and the Haason Reddick trades (who did finally report but will leave as a free agent after the year).

So, just to move on from Rodgers and his WR buddies (Adams/Lazard) would cost them 63 million. A rebuild would want to jettison Mosley as well, so you are looking at almost 80 million. They would have to find a QB, but any rookie is going to get killed behind that offensive line.

It's probably bring back AR next year and tough it out to reset in 2026, but who is going to want to be the sacrificial lamb to be the GM and head coach in 2025?

Belichick?  I assume theyโ€™re screwed short term because of the salary cap and maybe Belichick is too old to want to coach a team that will likely take at least a couple years to straighten out the mess that the Jets have gotten themselves into.

I canโ€™t think of any other coach who AR might respect enough to listen to though.

Bill has made it clear that heโ€™ll never coach the Jets. Too much history there.
