I hate to see this guy go down - he may be our defense of MVP. FOX did report that he may come back later today.
The Packers have exercised the 2020 fifth year option on DL Kenny Clark, per source. He’s emerged as a force for Green Bay.
— Field Yates (@FieldYates) May 1, 2019
I expect a new contract before next season if he keeps tearing it up. Good investment.
This is the one guy on defense that we really need healthy for 16 games. Kevin King would be nice too but I'm not putting any eggs in that basket. The defense all starts with a full season from KC.
5th year option .... at 23 years of age. Nice
5th year option then 5-6 year extension in the next year. And he will still be less than 30 years old.
He has been GBs best defensive player for at least 2 years. He should have made the pro-bowl the year Daniels was put in as an alternate. And he was lights out last season.
He still has tons of upside.
But he should be jettisoned because he was a TT pick.
Good grief..
Sign the man already.
The sooner the Packers lock up @KCBoutThatLife to a long term deal, the better. Price is only going up. https://t.co/xMDX3qBWKv

What does range mean for an interior DT? Can they make plays to the numbers?

Watch NT Kenny Clark and how far he can chase plays laterally... Stout and mobile = Problems for OL!!@KCBoutThatLife pic.twitter.com/szTBLyNndT
I'm getting a little pissed off they keep calling him for defensive holding. That's completely fucking ridiculous especially on a running play.
Agreed on the defensive holding. Two weeks in a row is silliness.
Yeah they need to lock him down ASAP. They might not be in a rush because they have him for another year, but he's only going to get MORE expensive.
dang!
Kenny Clark is an absolute beast of a DL. Love that guy.
Thanks Ted!! (seriously)
2016 and 2017 drafts are looking pretty good, especially considering draft position.

Kenny Clark is 107 days younger than Vikings Center Garrett Bradbury...
1st round C talent if I ever saw it!

You ruined it! "Thanks Ted!" should be an ambigious, nebulous phrase of both derisive sarcasm and/or acknowledgement and praise.
You guys really do need joke writers. Erase the (seriously) and never use it again. Bad.

Bradbury finally got to play against a true stud at NT. Clark owned him all game long and Bradbury's only play to block Clark was to hold him and pull him down on top of him. 1st round talent, indeed! Bradbury could be the second coming of Todd Steussie, for the vikings. Steussie was always good for an illegal procedure call, or two, on every offensive series for the vikings. Maybe the officials will start calling holding on Bradbury more often, just to give him a taste of that legacy.
Gotta give it to TT, Clark was an amazing pick. That draft ha a lot of options on the DL too and he picked the right one. Robert Nkemdeche and Vernon Butler went right after Clark and both look to be busts.
And since it's Broncos week.....Paxton Lynch went the pick right before Clark .

The 2016 draft was outstanding to elite on the defensive side of the ball and awful on the offensive side. To get 4 starters on defense (1 potential perennial All-Poro and two fourth round picks that are better than average starters is as good as you can expect).
Day One
Round 1, pick 27 (#27 overall): Kenny Clark, defensive tackle, UCLA
Day Two
Round 2, pick 17 (#48): Jason Spriggs, offensive tackle, Indiana
Traded R2 (#57), R4 (#125), R7 (#248) to acquire pick #48
Round 3, pick 25 (#88): Kyler Fackrell, outside linebacker, Utah State
Day Three
Round 4, pick 36 (#131): Blake Martinez, inside linebacker, Stanford
Round 4, pick 21 (#137): Dean Lowry, defensive end, Northwestern
Round 5, pick 26 (#163): Trevor Davis, wide receiver, California
Round 6, pick 25 (#200): Kyle Murphy, offensive tackle, Stanford

The announcers commented that his “Holding” was because he impeded an offensive player going out to block on the play. Yes, it’s a head scratcher, yet I suppose it makes some sense. But I don’t recall ever seeing that before in any game by any team.

The success of the 2017 draft will come down to whether Kevin King stays healthy. If you get a starting level CB that plays for 4 years that goes a long way.
Getting Aaron Jones in the 5th was outstanding, but you aren't going to win many games getting as little as they did (the jury is still out on Montravius Adams) from your other high picks like Josh Jones and Biegel. Those types of picks have to be at least be average starters or, at the worst, solid reserves.
Packers’ Draft Picks
- Round 2, pick 1 (#33 overall, from Browns): CB Kevin King, Washington
- Round 2, pick 29 (#61): S Josh Jones, NC State
- Round 3, pick 29 (#93): DT Montravius Adams, Auburn
- Round 4, pick 1 (#108, from Browns): OLB Vince Biegel, Wisconsin
- Round 4, pick 27 (#134): RB Jamaal Williams, BYU
- Round 5, pick 31 (#175, from Broncos): WR DeAngelo Yancey, Purdue
- Round 5, pick 38 (#182, compensatory pick): RB Aaron Jones, UTEP
- Round 6, pick 28 (#212): OL Kofi Amichia, USF
- Round 7, pick 20 (#238, from Broncos): RB Devante Mays, Utah State
- Round 7, pick 29 (#247): WR Malachi Dupre, LSU

He actually got called for the exact same thing, I think on the first snap vs. CHI.
Kenny Clark has earned the right to rush QB & Pettine is giving him opportunities!

Gawd Cousins sucks. How did he not make that throw? It's not like KC hit him as he threw, it was probably a little rushed, but Rudolph was wide open in the gap. He just had to throw it 4 ft lower and they win the game. I hope he's their QB forever.
YOU LIKE THAT???!!!
He impeded an offensive player!?!? Yeah that's called blocking the O-Lineman
NFL
Cuzzins blowing the throw....Yes I LIKE DAT!
The more I see of Cousins in action, the more I think he's the perfect Viking.
YATittle posted:The more I see of Cousins in action, the more I think he's the perfect Viking.
ahhh yes he is throwing INTs in big spots and never being quite good enough. What makes him the perfect Viking is that with him eating up so much cap space it will be tougher for the Vikings to win the offseason super bowl every year.
Such a first-round talant for the Vikings: Bradbury played only 14 pass-blocking snaps against the Falcons. If you include plays nullified by penalty, Bradbury allowed two hurries and three additional “losses,” and ended up with a 0.0 pass-blocking grade from PFF, only the 10th center to get 0.0 in pass protection for a single game. Against GB, his pass-blocking grade was 16.3. His overall grade is below 36.
So how did the Vikings get 170 yards running against Atlanta, and more than 150 v Green Bay? Bradbury had to have done something right?
"Bradbury had to have done something right?"
He successfully snapped the ball to the QB?
I recall some drafniks saying he was the #1 rated C and that GB should consider him in RD02 or 03.
Kenny needs to be locked up for a long time. That's all there is to be said in this thread. Kenny needs to be a Packer for a long, long, long time.
Thanks Ted.

The Vikings might have been more successful if he hadn't.
I do think he'll turn in to a solid player but the Bears game is going to be very interesting.

Yep. And keeping in mind that although he is in his 4th year, he is only 23 (24 on Oct 25), so a five year deal means he is only 29. If he stays healthy and productive, he gets to sign yet one more big contract after that five year contract before calling it a career.
This is Kenny Clark's last game as a 23-year old (24th bday on Oct 4th)

Price just keeps going up...
Are we worried about Kenny Clark? Just seems like he hadn't reached his ceiling, ready to throw him some big fat cash and he's just laid a turd. I know squat about d-line play, but its concerning that he has just disappeared. He doesn't seem to be plugging anything, creating any disruption, or at least handling double teams well enough to let other players make plays. Hope I'm wrong, he's dealing with some injury or is in the wrong position, but I'd hesitate to give him a big payday at this point.
He’s getting the attention from interior OL and play callers, he’s been nicked up, he’s playing a ton of snaps, and he’s still grading out pretty well. He’s not been dominant like he was early, but he’s still playing good ball for us. Need a better rotation to keep him fresh. Mike Daniels had a similar pattern, they just wore him out too early in the season.
KC isn't 100% -- that's why he isn't Aaron Donald dominant like he was early in the year.
They definitely need to keep him fresh(er)
