If Lacy or Franklin or Harris work into a weapon that D coordinators have to account for, we could see a lot of what we saw in that Houston game last year: single coverage on the outside, no cover two, safeties playing in and Rodgers cutting them up like a surgeon....

Let's all hope Lacy turns into the RB we know he should be. I want Aaron Rodgers to be the least sacked QB in the NFL this year. Run, LACY.... RUN!!!

Not quite, but very close. Lacy went two picks earlier.

I share that hope.

Just my opinion, as a former OLineman, it's a lot more fun to block for a guy you know will take advantage of the work you're putting in. I know it's their job to block whether they want to or not, but having a RB they know will get the yards might give our OL a small boost in the running game. They may block just a little harder!

That might be a winner -

IF the Packers decide to go Kuhn-less in 2013 then his role(s) will be handled by others

My guess was they would go one more year with Kuhn, but the addition of Mulligan + Lacy + Quarless gives them more beef in the running game. Lining up Daniels in the backfield is less risk than Raji

I was very impressed by Lacy in the Rams game.  I took a close look at the highlights and saw that his success was due more to his own ability than to blocking.  The first highlight run has EDS whiffing completely on his block and DJ Williams getting driven back deep into the backfield by his man.  EDS is easily beaten again on the second highlight run.  Lacy did a great job to pick up good yardage in those situations.

...IMHO Tretter was brought in with the idea of upgrading the center position

Really, REALLY liked what I saw from Lacy. He was decisive in the hole, breaking tackles and the best part: he played on 3rd downs and played well. Didn't see him wiff on any blocks and had a nice catch and run there in the first quarter.

Per profootballfocus.com, Lacy had 9 touches and forced 4 missed tackles. Extremely small sample but that's pretty awesome.

Lazy, no fire in the belly for the game, constantly gorges himself on junk food and injuries. All sorts of reasons floated for not making the pick but at this point it appears the man at the top made the right call.

In TT I trust.

From Adrian Peterson's AMA on reddit today:

Who do you think is the best rookie RB prospect in the NFL this year?

eddie lacy, but he's on a passing team. but that was a real good pickup... that i didnt like

It'll translate as long as the blocking is semi-competent. Unlike most of the backs in the past 10 years, he's a big-time talent.

Been a long time, a real long time since we've seen a RB do what Lacy did in the 1st series of a pre-season game. Guys like Gado, Goodman, etc all did their HOF work after the starters exited.

You got that right Hungry5. I always loved the way in college, especially in his senior year, Lacy kicked it UP A NOTCH in the big games. In the Super Bowl, he could be Terrell Davis. Something tells me AR wouldn't mind being John Elway if he could pick up another ring.

There's just something about Lacy carrying the football that translates effortlessly from Alabama to GB. You watch him at Family Night and STL and it's like watching him against Georgia and Notre Dame. He's not doing anything different. He's not trying to re-imagine his game to the NFL. He's just running. He's a big guy that's light on his feet that never seems to let anyone square him up.

Well, to be fair, most of the contact was behind the LOS thanks to EDS. Seems that Lacy may have figured out how to run behind an EDS block.

Eddie Lacy runs up middle right on EDS' tail.
