I know McCarthy praised Janis, but I'm guessing he's still going to need development. I know Abby is a fan favorite, but it's not wise to count on a player with an injury history like his to be one of your contributors. He may be a contributor, but you don't want to assume that will happen. Monty looks like he can contribute as a returner right away and seems to have the right physical make up to be an NFL WR. It's an unconventional pick considering our depth, but it could end up being a huge addition.

Devin Hester led the NFL in kickoff returns last year with 45.  #5 guy in the league had 32 returns (Jacoby Jones).  I really hope TT did not use a third round pick on a guy who will touch the ball maybe 2 times per game.

And for the record, I'm not upset with TT picking a WR.  Janis and Abrederis are very much question marks, so not surprising he picked one.  I just don't like Montgomery as a WR prospect.  Maybe he can be developed but he had a very underwhelming college career based on his physical attributes.  I'm criticizing the player, not the position.

It's ok.. we won't be able to stop anyone running the ball.  We lost talent from last year's team and we are replacing them with projects.

How many punts are there in a game?

He really kind of sucks.  Other than having Rodgers fall in dat lap.  One guy bought him a whole ton of praise he never deserved.  Shoulda lost his job years ago.

Do you ever get tired of the same whine?

McGinn had him rated as the best returner in this draft.

TY MONTGOMERY, WR, Stanford (6-0, 214, 4.51): Returned kickoffs all four seasons, averaging 27.4 with three TDs. "Like him, I sure do," one coach said. "He reminded me of Brian Mitchell. Really can make plays in space. Runs hard." Didn't return punts until 2014 but excelled there, too, with a 19.8 average (12 returns) and two TDs. "Big, strong, 6.3% body fat," another coach said. "He's sudden." Also caught 172 passes for 2,125 (12.5) and 15 TDs and rushed 39 times for 334 (8.6) and four scores. "He just has to get with the right coach," said one scout. "He really hasn't improved there. He had a disappointing season. He's a mystery guy. The one thing I know he can do is return kicks well." From Dallas.

Your mom should have fallen face first into your dad's lap. That way we wouldn't have to listen to this tripe.

We've already got that guy. But I take your point.

At least I'm honest about it.  Just blinding slobbering over everything TT does is embarrassing.

Wow. That adds tons of credence...bottom line, NO ONE knows a good draft from a bad one after the first 3 rounds. Just shut up. I'm not falling all over TT, but you're puking on it and you don't schit about these players.

I was expecting TE if not ILB. Again best player available. I like on 2 KRs I saw he ran straight ahead before any lateral moves. He has quicks and moves but heard he has the dropsies. Reminds me of a beefy James Jones, New toy for Aaron...

Montgomery is a great returner and really strong. He's got very questionable hands though -- tons of drops last year. He also had some of his worst games in bad weather.

This pick definitely confuses me given the WR depth, including the two WRs that didn't play last year. I wonder if they will give him a look at RB…he played a lot of wildcat and was Stanford's power rusher for part of last year and has a RB body.

This is a special teams guy,not specifically another reciever, ala Devon Hester. after his first return TD everybody will love him.

If this guy can field the onside kick then I am elated with this pick.  Bostick gone!!!

Janis and Montgomery types could make a 4 wide set more functional.  Big enough to block in run game while explosive route runners.  Other area I had concern with was inability to get separation at line in press coverage.  This guy along with Adams and Janis should put more hurt on that defense.  Allows A-Rod more confidence in open WR in blitz situations.  Might add to A-Rod's career?

I'm loving it.

Yeah, so far I am scratching my head about the draft.  But, we or even the Packers can't control how it falls.  I'm confident there is a plan...maybe plan B or C or Q....but a plan nonetheless.

I do think the NFC North has had a pretty good draft....the Pack is going to have to work to stay ahead....and I trust they will.

I agree----Special teams cost this team a super bowl trip…and Harris was a terrible return man.

This draft seems to be all about special teams.

You could argue that this was a needs pick versus bpa.

Montgomery might be a niche player, but it's a hell of a niche to fill.
