But I remember watching that first GB/CHI game and noticed the Bears' kicker was really booming them. But ours kind of wasn't.

The Packers recent history includes Shawn Slocum and Ron Zook. That should tell you where the Packers value ST.
The Packers new HC needs to put the same emphasis on ST's that Seattle, Patriots, KC all do. Hell even the Jets play better ST's....and the Jets SUCK!
Whoever is hired to run the special teams, there are a myriad of issues. Including: Scott had 2.11 inside-the-20 punts per touchback. Easily the worst in the league. League average: about 6.1

What kills me is that Seattle picked a Punter in the same round.... and he's the best in the league. John Schneider.... man does the Packers' organization ever miss that guy.
It's not completely unrealistic that Opie would SIGNIFICANTLY improve with an actual coach. See defense.

To be fair, he was off the board when they picked Opie. Too early to call it a bad pick but he's certainly been underwhelming so far.
I want to believe that a good st coach will make more than a hill of beans difference and he will be much better next year, so here's hoping...
It's all got to be in the kid's head. He was operating at near mythical levels in camp. He has all the ability and a thunderbolt for a leg. Got to get his head right and maybe get a decent coach.
Also in fairness to Opie, that was a shitload of punting this year.
Typical rookie. So many with great skills in camp and early in the year and then fade. He kicked a lot. He was zooked.
He was zooked by proxy. McDummy orchestrated lots of debacles.
Scott's a good example of why it's never wise to judge a rookie too quickly. I was deeply skeptical of the pick and remained so after his first season. Certainly does appear now like Gutey got this one right when he pegged him as a potential game-changer.

It's early but JK is doing better than Dickson in every way you can measure punting this year. And Dickson has had one of his punts housed.
