It's not like he can carry the team, playoff losses aren't his fault, he's was doing everything he could to win.

And after getting a $180 billion federal bailout, the insurance giant AIG caught flak for its fleet of corporate jets. To prevent the public from seeing where they fly, all have over the years turned to a little-known program that lets private plane owners block their flights from view in the government’s system for tracking air traffic. The owners don’t have to meet any test to keep their flights secret. They merely submit a request to the National Business Aviation Association [1], a trade group that lobbied to set up the program on the grounds that secrecy is justified to protect business deals and the security of executives.

But in at least some cases, the program has also served as a refuge for plane owners who’ve faced bad publicity, according to a review by ProPublica of 1,100 blocked planes in the program. The list was obtained after a 15-month public records battle in which the business aviation group sued [3] the FAA to keep it confidential. After a federal judge ruled [4] that the records are public, the FAA provided the list this week.

Plane owners have two options for keeping flights secret. In one, the NBAA sends a “block” list directly to private flight-tracking sites, which are bound by agreement with FAA to hide those planes. In the other, the NBAA sends a block list to the FAA, which hides the planes from data released to flight-tracking sites.

I'll admit, I wanted Favre to retire. If he truly retired, there's a ZERO percent chance he and the Vikings would win a SuperBowl this year. Now they both have a chance. I honestly consider them the favorites (at least in the NFC).

Now, the other side of the coin, it does make it all that much sweeter if the Vikes do another choke job this year. But both Tampa and New Orleans have won their 1st Super Bowls ever in the past 10 years, and the Vikings could be the next team to break into the winners club. That thought kind of makes me a bit queasy. Frowner
This whole scenario that the Diva has assembled the past few years is surreal when you step back and look at it from a distance. He is bad enough. But I think what is the real sore point for me is the compliance from the league itself and the media to enable this nonsense. He is one of the milkiest of their milkcows and it is a business. Some make accusations of the league assisting the cause by convenient scheduling. Hard to disagree with that.

In the end, all of this has to be explained by one of the following.

A) TOG has some for real, serious psychological issues

B) He's just an egomaniacal douchey douche

C) It's all a scripted business plan on the part of the NFL to milk the most revenues possible out of one of the leagues biggest personas.

If Option A is true, I feel sorry for the guy. If B is true, I want to smash him in the face. If C is true, I feel like a complete sucker who has been conned by a false product.

None of these possibilities make me feel any better about the situation. This SUCKS.

Even Goodell has allowed himself to be sucked into the Favre reality distortion zone.

Not to mention 3 in a row and 4 out of 5 at home late in the season.

Based on what? The fact that the Vikings are huge chokers or that Favre is the biggest choker in NFL history? He hasn't won a road playoff game as a dog since 1995. He has a 4-8 record in the playoffs since the 1997 NFCC game. Three times in his career he has had the ball in his hands to tie or win a Super Bowl or NFCC game. He has blown it all 3 times. He has thrown a season ending INT in 2003, 2007 and 2009.
Seifert nailed it in his blog:

My guess is that CKA has zero credibility with his owner, players, press, or fans.

My guess (and hope) is that this BS of sending 3 players down there to beg his Bert to come back leads to ill feelings in the locker room.

Remember that mid-season parting of ways between Bert and Brad last year--it will happen again and more often this year--Bert is the boss of that team, no doubt about it.

Ownership and management look just as incomptent. No drafting of a quarterback this year in what was likely the best class of QBs for the next several years. Should they pony up more $$$ to Bert the union will be laughing all the way to the CBA table--don't try telling the players or fans that there isn't any money.

Bert has achieved exactly what he has always wanted:

He is in effect the GM, HC, and QB. He will be in charge of personnel decisons (those that interest him), he will make game decisons regardless of what CKA wants to run and he will continue his streak while continuing to ignore and at the same time, play up to the toll on his body.

Could one say then that he is due?

Of course you would, but then again outside of The Champ and BPG you are the biggest Viking fan on this board.

I'm truly beginning to think that the fix is in, and has been in for some time. I heard some guy on the radio promoting a book which claims as much. I'm sure there have been plenty of books already published on the subject. But his angle was that games aren't necessarily fixed within the game itself, but they are subtly influenced towards a desired end from external means. Questionable scheduling falls perfectly into this theory IMO. He also believes, like others, that the mob is heavily involved.

I agree that things are influenced - I don't know how one could look at the undisputed facts of this situation and conclude otherwise. I like you don't think they sit there in NYC and pick which teams will be in/win the SB in July, but stars get preference, troubled markets get help and ratings and revenue reign.

Let's not forget that (a) Brent is a cash cow, and whether he comes back this year and succeeds or fails spectacularly, the league and the owners make huge cash off that story/drama. (b) We're in a bad, bad recession. Anything that can be done to crank up or even just maintain revenue will be done these days by any big business. (c) The labor fight looms. The league needs a cash grab now more than ever, or at least that's what they'll have you believe. More jerseys sold = more uhterknees to fling monkey poop at the NFLPA when the time comes.
I guess Tedy Bruschi had a meltdown on ESPN about the situation and what a joke it was and Antonio Pierce said back when Strahan retired that he wanted him back but there was no chance he would go pick him up like these 3 morons.
The Messiah returns to Minnis with the Three Dumb Men, They will be met at the airport by CKA=Coach Kick All-of-US. CKA will then wash the Messiah's feet and perform any other duities the Messiah desires.
At first I was glad when it looked like he was going to retire a couple of weeks ago, but then I realized that he would go out with two victories over the Packers and we would not be able to extract revenge. I really, really hope we beat them this year, not once but twice. And in a painful, crushing way. I want us to beat up on bret and the vikings so bad that the TV networks have to cut away because it won't be suitable for younger audiences. I want the Packers to humiliate them so badly that Roger Goodell kicks the vikings out of the league because the conflagration was too embarrassing to the NFL.
"THIS JUST ISN"T FAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These were the words coming out of T. Jackson's mouth when he was found by Brad Childress standing in the corner of his room moments ago.
" Don't cry T.J.", Brad affectionately pleaded. " I've got you on the 50 year development plan."

Then with a big old Childress bear hug, Brad slapped his favorite student on the arse and said,

"Now get out there and do some more learnin!!"

T-Jack has to be deflated but he probably knew this was going to happen.

I really hope the Packers beat them at least at Lambeau. I want to see the hillbilly act in the same "gracious" way he did when they cleaned the Packers clocks the first time. Instead, I think we'd see something more like what happened in the 99 game vs Holmgren.
Teddy Bruschi on () probably gets fired today.

He didnt hold back saying the "Monday Night Sleepover" was essentially ridiculous, that if he was told to go down there as a player no way would he beg TOG to come back, and that he doesn't feel TOG will have the year he did last year. Stated it was a career year for him and look how much went that teams way last season. Said if this team goes on a losing streak and TOG isn't playing well dissention in the ranks will follow and players will say why weren't you here earlier.

Obviously Teddy needs to be re-trained or simply let go. He failed to read his orientation manual and employee handbook.
That's classic. I hope they replay it later tonight. My friend sent me a text about it, saying something like he also mentioned it's all due to Childress essentially being a pussy and that it would never happen in Belichick's locker room.

Speaking of all the breaks, the entire season may have gone into the crapper had Dre' Bly managed to hang on to an EASY pick 6.
Man he looks fat.

No joke. He said around the ESPY's he put on 14 pounds of fat he needed to lose.

14? Ya Brent. At least that.

Must have had some extra pork rinds as comfort food while watching LeBron and kicking himself for not thinking of it before him.
So, really, I'm supposed to believe that this hick decided literally today, after wavering forever, to simply up and head to camp? No prep, no packing, no goodbyes to the family, no wrapping up loose ends, and in the span of 20 minutes the 3 wise men convinced Cletus to up and go to camp and hit the plane?

I thought it would be Thursday, I had the 19th. But anyone thinking that this wasn't choreographed and planned is naive. Brett just wanted the public, and specifically wanted ESPN to remind the public, that all the players just so loved and wanted his Favreness back.

I'm sure the narrative will entail how hard the decision was, how his body is telling him no, but the guys loved him so much, and he's never felt so part of a "team" before that he couldn't say no when 3 of the veteran team leaders personally asked him to come back. He'll remind us numerous times how he's never felt this loved, never been asked to come back like this.

And, magically everyone will believe it. No one will have the balls to call him out. He tells is he loves his teammates but then calls them liars about his texts. He plays for the love of the game but he doesn't need to dedicate himself in the off season - Hell he knows the offense more than the coaches. He loves Minnesota, but throws the head coach under the bus.

Honestly I hope every single NFL team absolutely beats him every single time he drops back to pass.
