Now the Colts have requested to talk to Wolf

They've requested a meeting with just about every prospective candidate in the NFL it seems. To me if the Packers candidates are kicking the tires on other positions then they don't expect Ted Thompson to leave.

The Packers don't have a hot headed owner breathing down folks necks. I don't believe both Capers and TT would have survived the past 5 seasons otherwise. One perhaps. But not both.

At some point, something's gotta give, because this is what we're squandering (and taking for granted):

  • Highest passer rating, career (minimum 1,500 attempts): 104.1, Aaron Rodgers, 2005–2016.
  • Most consecutive pass attempts, no interceptions, home: 587, Aaron Rodgers 2012–2015.
  • Most 70+ yard touchdown passes: 16, Peyton Manning & Aaron Rodgers.
  • Most consecutive passing touchdowns, no interceptions, home: 49, Aaron Rodgers.
  • Most touchdown passes per games started average, regular season: 2.2, Aaron Rodgers, (297 TD Passes/135 Games Started), 2008–2016.
  • Most touchdown passes per game average, regular season: 2.09, Aaron Rodgers, (297 TD Passes/142 Games), 2008–2016.
  • Most consecutive passes attempted, no pick 6: 4,657, Aaron Rodgers, since 11-08-2009.
  • Most consecutive passes attempted, none intercepted, home: 587, Aaron Rodgers, 2012–2015.
  • Most consecutive touchdowns, none intercepted, home: 49, Aaron Rodgers.
  • Best touchdown pass–interception ratio, career: 4.13:1 (297 TDs, 72 INTs), Aaron Rodgers, 2005–2016.
  • Best passing yards–interception ratio, career: 511.49:1 (36,827 yards, 72 INTs), Aaron Rodgers, 2005–2016.
  • Lowest percentage passes had intercepted, career (minimum 1,500 attempts): 1.55 (72 INTs, 4,657 attempts), Aaron Rodgers, 2005–2016.

Aaron Rodgers squandered the beginning of this season.

I don't think I can disagree with you there; but at 4-6 he put on his big boys pants and changed his mindset, approach to the game, and led the team on a remarkable run.  He said himself that we wasn't playing well and needed to do better.  He did.

TT/Dom only say trust the scheme, next man up, our philosophy is our philosophy, and so on and so forth.  That's the major difference here, and it needs to be addressed before another embarrassing elimination game.

The defense did not win many if any games for the Pack this year.  AR had to out score what his defense allowed to win.  Defensive stops sometimes meant a turnover.  If the defense had some pick six or fumble recoveries that were scooped up and taken in for a score things might have been different.  Even in the streak, opposing offenses out gained our team's offense.  That is what needs to be fixed.  If AR had the luxury of a good defense, the Pack may have been undefeated this year.

So Aaron Rodgers leading the NFL in TDs the first 10 weeks of the season while the defense is giving up an NFL worst 28 points per game over that same period is Aaron squandering the beginning of the season.

I'm just glad Aaron was able to look in the ****ing mirror after Washington and play some really super terrific QB and the defense buckled down to get that average points per all the way down to 24.3.

This is spot on.

I don't want to compare it to the Vikings because I hate them, but look at what that team was able to do behind their defense in the first five weeks of the season with a mid- to low-tier quarterback and no running backs.  Resulting record? 5-0 on 12 turnovers; then 3-8 on 15 turnovers (and if you take out their Week 17 game against the bears that had 5 turnovers, that number drops to 10 from Weeks 6 through 16).  In other words, defense and the ability to force  turnovers are vital to success in this league.

We're good on offense, we have to build a defense--and not in the draft.  Bring in seasoned players like Dotson, White, Woodson, Pickett, etc.  This undrafted free agent nonsense is tiring.  They're undrafted for a reason.  On the field in a Packers uniform is not the place for them to prove why they were undrafted.

Rodgers could have played better in the first 10 games, but he did throw 25 TDs against 7 interceptions. That's a ratio of 3.57.

Rodgers' lifetime ratio is 4.12 - first all time. The next best QB in history is Brady at 3.00.

So the first 10 games of the year we had a QB (who was playing as poorly as he had in a long time) that put up a TD/Interception ratio better than any other QB in history and we only managed to go 4-6?

I think we all need to go back and watch tapes of David Whitehurst, Jerry Tagge, Randy Wright, Anthony Dilweg, Blair Kiel, etc.

Zero margin for error at the QB position with a defense as abysmal as the Packers have. AR has to almost play perfect every week and that's a completely unreasonable standard. Really amazing that the defensive issue has been going on for years and the organization has been content to stick with the status quo for so long.

Exactly.  As good as AR is at some point he is probably going to say "hey I need some help at some point especially from the defense"

Which brings me to a thought.  If we as fans behind keyboards can see the issues on defense so obviously you would have to think that NFL players would be seeing it as well.  So as an example if you are an NFL free agent looking for a team do you shy away from a team that for years has had defensive issues like we just saw or do you see it as an opportunity?  I guess it would be on the player to decide but I would have to wonder if the status quo could affect their choice.
