WISN along with Jay Glazer from Fox is reporting that Favre has hired a personal trainer. The trainer is allegedly the same one he used in '07 to get in excellent shape and geared specifically to QB skills/training.

Glazer chimes in that all signs reporting to a TOG return

I'm sure the reason for the trainer is because he isn't getting enough exercise on the riding lawn mower. Ya, that's it.

Does anyone believe this dude isn't coming back and in purple

Well, according to PFTalk.com, Favre supposedly sent a text message to his "good, good friend", Trent Dilfer, in reply to a text from Dilfer inquiring as to whether or not his nibbs is returning in 09, and his lordness replied with a "NO".

Is it dangerous to "text" while sitting atop a riding lawnmower? Anyway, this means nothing, the text message, as all of Favre's responses to the same question last summer showed.

I think he's coming back. Only way he doesn't is if somebody, somewhere, convinces him that by going to Minnesota, his legacy in Green Bay would only remain intact with the miscreant and reprobate class in the trailer park. Oh, and of course, with Greta van Sustern at Fox.
I don't care what Favre does in 2009; I just wish people would stop talking about him. That said, I wanted to chime in to point out that Marvez's column is how rumors quickly turn into facts on the internets.

Unless there's been an update to the situation, the Pioneer Press "article" that Marvez is referencing here is the Charley Water's blurb under his "DON'T PRINT THAT" section from a few days ago. Everyone's favorite JSO writer gave his thoughts on this a few days ago:

quote:

What journalism entity would ever print that without at least one solid source? I wouldn't even write that in a blog. What, is the heading "DON'T PRINT THAT" supposed all of a sudden give a paper license to usurp it's journalistic ethics and responsibilities?
He could text that to any reporter on a daily basis and most people just wouldn't buy it. Been dooped by him and Bus before (e.g. "there's nothing to it", it's all rumor).

Agree though only way I think he stays home is if CKA and Wilf just feel he isn't emotionally stable enough to handle playing in the NFC North. If they feel the guy is so fueled by hate/emotion that he won't play well or psych himself out of the games against GB, I could see them making the pass and sayin no. Then again, were talkin' about coach kick ass.

I'm over it.

If he's still that bitter, then I say bring it or go away.

Pretty much.

That's proof he's coming back then!

Amen to that. And I would want it to be the Packers that ended his season. If he comes back in a Vikings uni, he'll get hurt in that dome.

It's just insane to me... this guy is treated like a God for the better part of 17 years. Then he put himself over the team many times- far more times than just his exit. He refused to change his style of play despite disasterous results. He complained through his family about the organization. Then he USED the fans in Green Bay to leverage his comeback against the team by showing up at the scrimmage- the same fans that lived and breathed with every throw from his right arm- so dividing the fanbase and providing controversy for the new Packer QB that he did not deserve.

F*** you and your primadonna, drama queen ass. You can no longer be mentioned in the same breath as true Packer greats like Starr, Hornung, Taylor, and a long list of HOFers that circle the stadium's facade. At one time you did, but you're now a disgrace and I am sure your father would totally disapprove if he were still here to check your dumb ass.

Sorry... just a vent.
Sports is more fun when not taken so seriously. 5 years ago I would have been a raving lunatic if Favre was a Viking but now I don't care. He had a hall of fame career
in GB and having a couple more years with random teams doesen't change that.

I just think it sucks that GB fans got cheated out of two more years of having him

But I don't know how people can really questiton going to the Vikings. What team is he supposed to play for. It gives NFC North familiarity, offense led by Bevell, good running game, deep threat receivers, good running defense, and they need a qb. Its a tailor made situation, it just happens to be a team Packer fans hate.

Forget the personal trainer

He needs to hire a good psychologist to figure him out. The guy has serious issues.

You hit it on the head squarely , that and a boatload of meds and some group therapy may help.
He's coming back. I'm positive.

Maybe if I say that enough it won't happen. I don't want to see the guy play for Minnesota but if he truly wants to play, he should be allowed to play provided a team wants him. Yes Minnesota wants him

Amen!
You were sure Tyson Jackson wasn't going to KC either.

Smiler

I don't want to see it happen either (for selfish reasons), but it's his call to make.

If it happens, then So Be It.

If we play our cards right, i-con will sign off on it and guarantee us the division at least.

Paleeze! In hindsight they shoulda dumped his ass after the 97 Super bowl loss

I do find it funny how queen fans are getting so excited about signing Favre. A guy who many of them said was finished 4-5 years ago. Now he is their savior? I was disappointed to see the queens were not playing in Dallas this year. If they had, the over under on INTs for the 2 GB games and the Dallas game would have been 9.

The most hilarious though was the quote by Florio when he said "outside of QB this Viking team is one of the most talented in NFL history."
One thing that wasn't mentioned in that article is that the "Favre has hired a personal trainer" came from Charlie "Shooter" Walters of the St Paul Pioneer Press, whose modus operandi is to throw as much poop against the wall as he can, and hope that some of it sticks.

Yep, he's Florio-light. Neither one are worth a darn and about as believable as any of the commentators on FAUX.

This came from Walters? OMG...Glazer loses major credibility with this.

Calm down people...false alarm...
