What cracks me up is how people keep talking about how TOG wants to stick it to the Packers. You think guys like Chuck Woodson aren't looking to stick it to him after his antics.

This proves again that the Vikes were tampering last year with a player under contract.
Knowing how Favre works he'll come out of the meating with Chilly saying he won't come back, only to surprisingly admit in June via his puppet Mort that he is indeed coming back. Gotta make it as dramatic as possible

just come out and say you want to play to try and stick it to the pack and quit pussyfooting around about it.
TOG is going to wait until the minicamps are over before he commits to anything. And you know CKA will welcome him with open arms at the 11th hour, despite the hard stance that he needs to commit to all offseason activities.

After all, they removed 78 (78!) players from their draft board for character concerns, yet drafted one of the biggest risks in the draft with their first pick.
Does anyone think Favre would play well against the Pack or would he have one of his standard 'hero' games like against Seattle in 99, the Rams, Eagles and Giants playoff games, games against the Vikes in the Dump from 92-about 01, any game in Dallas, etc?

What I find funny is every year this comes up and every year people blame the media for all this hype instead of Favre. Although, those numbers are diminishing year by year. When this happens again next year again the media will be blamed.
If the NFL had thought ahead and realized how psychotic TOG is, they would have made both the Vikes/Packers games national. Because this would command Super Bowl ratings for each game if audiences can see it.

Hell, they could make this pay-per-view and make a killing.

Gee, sign me up. At least the beer is probably free.

Talk about the tail wagging the dog....

I wonder which network has the first game between GB and the vikes ?

The E--- network ( who had absolutely no role in his change of heart...)
will hype this MNF like a Super Bowl until October 5th. They are doing back flips in Bristol

What a coincidence.

That'll definitely be a game that's paused for a few seconds so the radio feed can catch up to the silent video. No shot in hell I'll be able to endure Kornholio smearing man love all over his lust boy for 3.5 hours, even as he serves up INT after INT. I will enjoy a despondent/disconsolate Mort offering his report after the game as he looks like he just swallowed his shoes.

Yeah, definitely makes you go "hmmmm". Just a coincidence I'm sure Roll Eyes.
The vikes need a new stadium, the network needs ratings, Favre has an itch

Everybody is happy

It probably also explains why Deanna flew in and flew out quick before the schit hit the fan. She had some bases to cover with her charities....

Yeah, it did work so well with Detroit last year. Great idea.

Because Favre is all about the team and not himself?

I wonder if you were to split it up what percent is winning a championship, what percent is revenge against Green Bay and what percent is the streak? The streak became far too big.

Not a player? That means not the center of attention. That means not all about him. That means not getting revenge on Evil Ted. And that would mean Brett would be placed on med's and doing what's in the best interest of anyone other then him.

Puh-lease.

Ain't going to happen.

50%

and what percent is the streak?

I'd amend this to "what percent is his motivation for more individual records?", and I'd say
50%

Good point on the charities or whomever else she met with. I would not be surprised if she did not relay something to the effect that It's not about the fans, it's about Ted.
Gleened this from another blog, thought it was interesting:

" Recently Jason Taylor, formerly of the Dolphins, when asked about signing with the Patriots, said he couldn't sign with a division rival and do that to the fans, Zach Thomas also stated that when the Jets were wooing him. Cris Carter, last year when the Favre saga was raging, also said he would never even consider playing for the Lions, Bears or Packers, because they were the enemy. Even crackhead Michael Irvin had the chance to sign with the Redskins when his days were numbered and didn't because he couldn't that to the Dallas fans. But our hero, Brett Favre, has no problems going the most hated team, sorry Chicago, in WI. Just to prove he's still got it, prove it with another team, pops. "

So you're saying once I leave here I can't go over to Packerchatters?

Never thought I'd side with Carter and Irvin versus Favre in any debate. What is the world coming to? toobad
Anyone read up how the Jets feel about this? I'm sure they're not too upset afterall they did get Sanchez. But, they said they did want him back as their QB next year when the season ended. Then he 'retires', says he can't ask them for his release after all they did for him and 2 months later does exactly that. Goes on to say he can definitely say he won't play another NFL down. To be fair I guess that still could happen, but it's extremely unlikely.

He asks for release knowing full well there's no way they could say no, after signing Scott and a few others to free agent contracts and drafting their QB of the future in Sanchez. He'd have caused as many problems there this summer as he did for the Packers, not to mention all the cap hell. He is a real piece of work that is for sure.

What's so sad about all of this was he brought it all upon himself with his initial retirement temper tantrum last offseason.
Did anybody else watch the NFL channel tonight? Sickening. They had Elmer Fudd, Mariucci, on the phone, and asked him about Favre. Mariucci said he talked to Favre Friday, and that Brett had no idea what all the "scuttlebutt" was about, because he had just been released by the Jets.

Mariucci never says that it was Favre who asked the Jets, twice, for his release, he made it sound like poor ol country boy Brett was just surprised "as all get out" that a team out there might want him to play again.

Then Mariucci says that Favre told him his wife said that if he was to do this again, that he would have to give it his all starting right now, get in the best shape of his life, blah, blah, blah.

Favre is the way he is because he has always been surrounded by people like Mariucci who kiss his ass. Mariucci and the rest are basically enablers for a spoiled, immature ego maniac.

Don't be fooled, the Jets did not want him back. They were just saving face. There have been many stories out of NY about them having major problems with Brett and his ego (especially the players).
What I don't understand is why the Vikings would even consider this and I am trying to be serious. What you have is a 40 yrd old player who is at best a 1-2 year option, he broke down last year in the last 5 games. If I recall correctly he even stated in an interview after the season that part of his motivation to play in 2009 for the Jets was to "stick it to Thompson".

The Vikings trade a 4th rounder to the Texans for Rosenfels and then given a 2 year 9 million dollar extension. Why would your owner or GM even consider Favre?

I have to wonder what the Vikings players might be thinking about this. Management is going after a player who wants to get revenge on his former teams Coach and GM. A player who by his own admission is playing for himself and not for the team.

Finally I keep hearing how he knows the DB/CKA offense and with AD he will only have to throw it 20/25 times a game. That would mean that Favre would have to play under his coaches control and isn't that part of why he didn't like MM? And if it is so easy to play QB for the Vikings that you only have to throw 20-25 times why would they need Favre? Couldn't the QBs they have do the same thing.

The Vikings signing Favre would be an act of desperation on CKA's part. He knows he has to win and advance in the playoffs to keep his job. The Vikings may or may not be a playoff team this year with the QBs that have and IMHO that doesn't change if they sign Favre.
I got $20 against my brother that he ends up in purple. Saddest part is the vindictiveness will still leave Favre empty inside...even if he'd beat GB twice the satisfaction would be short lived and tainted. I love the guy, but not the way he's acted in particular the last 2 years.

I had hoped it would end at the very least somewhat dignified, but I guess that's his choice if he wants to piss away his legacy and the goodwill of Packer fans everywhere.

For all the Favre backers, is this NOT confirmation that TT and company saw some things that most others did not about this guy? If he's only coming back to get vengeance on his old team and bosses, what exactly does that say about him? The "I just wanna play ball" argument doesn't wash anymore. Favre has no regard for Packer fans whatsoever.
I think the marriage of Favre and the Chokekings could produced a Kick Ass new chapter in a Kick Ass legacy of Choking for both.

Is it possible a team could choke so bad as to miss the playoffs after clinching a berth? We may be about to find out.
