TZPack, welcome to the board !!!! Nothing like jumping right in.

Would like to hear your rebuttal to the primary reasons the Pack went 6-10 last season. Many of us feel the defense(lead by Bob Sanders), special teams(lead by Mike Stock), and injuries were the biggest factors in losing multiple close games. I'm one that drew the ire of many fans in the X4 game day chat room due to constantly bashing on Sanders/Stock and am pleased they are gone. Thought Rodgers played great for a first year starter, but certainly can, and will, get even better. He was way down the list for our 6-10 record, no ??

As for Favre, certainly you saw the guy's ego get out of control to where he thought he was/is bigger than the team. Disagree on Favre "rarely receiving a pass" from posters ...there are too many excuses to list that were continually used for his bone-headed mistakes.

Favre was a great Packer for quite some time, but.....
Most fans, as well as Ted Thompson, don't like spoiled, egomaniacal, premadonna players that put themselves above the team and the honor of the game. Simple as that.

Barnett tweets on Favre possibly joining Vikings

Here's what Packers linebacker Nick Barnett tweeted a short time ago about Brett Favre's possible purple turn:

Thoughts on frave... Well didn't want to comment but hey anyways I think he should do what ever he feels is in his heart.. But once he puts that purple (on) He will become an enemy which is all part of the game.. It's hard to imagine him doing that. But if it's in his head...
Childress, Favre meeting set

May 6th, 2009 – 12:46 PM by Judd Zulgad

Vikings coach Brad Childress is expected to depart for Mississippi later today and meet with quarterback Brett Favre tonight and Thursday, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. Childress remained at Winter Park early this afternoon but the source said he is expected to have dinner with Favre this evening and begin discussions about Favre joining the Vikings.

The in-depth portion of the meeting is expected to take place Thursday. Among the Vikings’ chief concerns is the status of Favre’s injured right biceps. At this point, the meeting is expected to take place in Mississippi, where Favre lives.

The minnesota governor chimes in:

quote:
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota's governor is salivating at the thought of Brett Favre playing for the Vikings.

Gov. Tim Pawlenty says putting the former Green Bay Packer in purple would be fun for fans. He says it would be "a wonderful little salt to rub in the eyes of some of our Green Bay Packer friends."

Pawlenty laid out the scene: "Can you imagine Brett Favre going into Lambeau Field in Viking purple and maybe even wearing No. 4? There would be audible gasps."

Despite the interstate rivalry, Minnesota and Wisconsin have been working to save money by sharing some state functions and equipment.

I know everyone is sick of this all ready, but is there any doubt the Viking/Packer rivalry would eclipse the Bears should this go down? The Queens and their fans should hope Favre gives them that impossible elusive Super Bowl championship. There will be no sneaking up on the Packers ever again. I kind of agree with Boris on this--it's sickening and fascinating all at the same time. WWE at its best couldn't write a script any better.
Besides the betrayal we all feel, here's what I think's going to happen this year.

1)Favre will sign with the Vikings
2)Rosenfels and Jackson are probably better players at this point than Favre...CKA and the owner are mainly looking for ticket sales because nobody can seriously think Brett can take anyone anywhere at this point in his career
3)Favre's arm and shoulder will continue to bother him this year...that's what happens to us 40-year-olds
4)Favre will believe he can still make the throws he did when he was 24, completely ignoring the fact that his arm is a wet rag now. Despite this, CKA calls more passes than runs to satisfy Favre's huge ego, especially in the games against the Packers, and they don't run Peterson enough to win
5)Favre will be injured and out of a game at some point this season
6)The Vikings will lose both games to the Packers and Vikings fans will be pissed about not making the playoffs...again
7)Tavaris Jackson will be even further behind in development and the Vikings will continue to need a franchise QB...and not be able to get one for a few more years
8)CKA gets fired
9)In two years, the Vikes will have to move
10)The Vikings games will be the most fun of the entire season, granted Favres's healthy enough to play in them

Too bad about #8, it's our best weapon against the Vikings.

Do you think CKA will make his specialty for their sensitive dinner date?

Or will he take TOG out to eat?

Man, I can't wait for that game against the Vikings in Lambeau! I haven't had a real hate going for an opposing player since some of Ditka's Bears. Every time Favre drops back to pass, I'll be screaming: KILL HIM! RIP HIS FU**ING HEAD OFF!

I'll probably lose my voice by the end of the 1st quarter. But this is going to be fun!

C'mon Favre. Don't pussy out! When CKA is down there in redbeck heaven, sign on the dotted line.

Don't let me down!
From that JSO article......

quote:
With running back Adrian Peterson and receivers Bernard Berrian and Percy Harvin, Favre would have a strong supporting cast. The Vikings' defense has long been tough. Adding a healthy Favre would make the Vikings solid Super Bowl contenders.

Peterson yes......I wouldn't exactly add Berrian and a rookie WR to the mix of "strong" supporting cast.
