Even more reason that I hope those idots sign him

There is nothing good that can come out of this whole mess. If they think they are getting an elite QB, LMAO.

Only the Vikings.................

How desperate are the Vikings? Not only do they sign the Packer's castoffs, they'll be signing a guy who is clearly mentally ill.

I guess as of today we won't have to worry about that but as much fun and fascinating as it would be to have the drama of playing him in purple, the thought of him leading the queens to the bowl is very scary...at least to me and as a guy who lives in enemy territory.

1. Puscatore

It might be tiresome but it is the truth. He did not play with Hall of Fame players. He played with very good players but none that were great. Favre was great....

How many did John Elway play with on offense? By my count zero, at least in the skill position area. Except for Sharpe I guess. Yes, Zimmerman is HOF.

What about Dan Marino on offense? By my count zero, at least in the skill position area. Yes, Dwight Stephenson is HOF.

What about Fran Tarkenton on offense?

Warren Moon?

People constantly beat that drum about Favre not having star players on offense and it just was not true.

Good points. How many titles did Tom Brady win with zero HOF-level players on offense with him? Three. How many has he won with one HOF-level WR on his team? Zero.

The GBP had a HOF-level CEO in Harlan. He probably won't ever get into the HOF, but he took a franchise that was deep in the crapper, and look at the state in which he left the franchise. Sure, he had absolutely nothing to do with what happened in the 90's.

Wolf was a HOF-level GM. Not sure if he'll ever get there either, but all those 'not great' supporting cast players - Keith Jackson, American Chewy, Levens, Winters, Aaron Taylor, Timmerman, Henderson, Freeman in his short prime, Brooks...

A HOF coach. Holmy was the only one who ever got the most out of Favre. How? He kicked his ass every day and held him accountable. The only other coach who ever came close to properly coaching the guy was MM.

Favre was and will be a HOF QB. No doubt about that from anyone who ever saw him play, especially in his prime.

HOF DE in Reggie White. HOF-level S in Butler, who sadly may never get there.

A one-year ST's run from Desmond that was nothing short of unbelievable the year they won it all.

The 'Favre did it alone' BS is as weak as the 'he's just a fun-loving kid who is just like the rest of us' bit. He was a great player. He isn't any longer. He's also a dick, and despite the purported clairvoyance of some here, he wasn't that way until he was promoted to quasi Coach and GM in about the year 2001.

IF the Vikings want to sign FAvre so bad then they need to hire Ron Wolf as defactor GM for a day, have him go into the Drs office and tell them to pass him for the physical. It worked 17 yrs ago, there is no reason it should not work now.

Point of Sale. He's keeping his name recognition up for his sponsors. Wink

The interweb is a funny thing. It's a great place to come and rant for poops and giggles. The only scary thing would be if posters actually felt this strongly in real life instead of having a life. Then again, I do know a person who is obsessed with celebs so who knows, maybe there is a person or two who does take this seriously. But I digress.

Entertainment is good. Reading is fundamental.
ESPN reports X-rays and MRIs were sent by TOG to the Yikes. The MRIs would indicate when things have healed enough for TOG to begin throwing again.

Wallt Cox also says TOG at QB would make the Yikes a 12 win team, TOG will pull out games Tavarious would not. He forgot to mention the games TOG throws away tho.
The Journal-Sentinel story is a little more revealing. I really don't think the guy is going to play. (Although, I'm not sure how much stock to put in the line "a palpable fear around Favre." I mean, good grief.)

http://www.jsonline.com/sports/44627277.html

But there is a palpable fear around Favre that there is a more serious injury to the shoulder. One source said, "If you put your finger in (Favre's) shoulder it goes right through. That's not a good sign. There's a reason why he hasn't picked up a football yet."

The fear, according to two sources, is that one of three other injuries will be found: additional damage to the rotator cuff; that the biceps tendon has come out of its groove possibly by a rupture in the sheath that surrounds it; or that there is cartilage damage in the shoulder.

Any of the three would likely end Favre's latest comeback attempt.

I prefer the passive aggressive style myself

Making decisions has often been problematic for Brett, and having a powerful agent, a vociferous family & legions of followers and detractors hasn't made it any better.

Maybe if the decision ( health) is made for him, it will be easier to live with

Take a break- or have a drink

Or as I say in the household, take it down a notch

That's OK. If this signing doesn't happen, Cpt. Braveheart can go back to pissing his pants at the thought of facing the immortal Sage Rosenfels...

You know what? If they did that I would be MORE worried about them next season.

Mort on ESPN Radio: (nothing really that new)

1. Shoulder will be deciding factor (Favre is aware it may not be the same).

2. There is a split in the Vikings front office (didn't want to say too much for fear of exposing a "source") regarding the wisdom of signing him.

3. Favre is "aware" of the strong feelings among fans, but he thought he would respond "I haven't said anything" and "it's my life" if asked about coming back to play.

4. X-rays and MRI's have been sent.

5. Zero learning curve on offensive terminology (just would need to get to know team).

6. QB coach story is correct (team is looking for one for him should the return happen).

The hosts didn't ask him what the primary motivation for returning would be or what kind of physical shape he currently was in.
sure sounds as tho Childress is the one talking to Mort. The guy can't help but run his mouth on the record or off the record. The guy is the biggest putz coach of all time. HE makes Jerry Glanville look sedated.

He is one physically tough dude - gotta give him that.

YAHOO EDITOR DEFENDS FAVRE REPORT

On Thursday, as the momentum was pointing toward quarterback Brett Favre unretiring for a second straight year and playing for a team other than the Packers for a second straight year, the report from Yahoo! Sports came out of the blue — Favre, according to Rick Schwartz, had told the Vikings that he’s not going to play for them in 2009, and Favre would be announcing his decision “soon.”

Despite being an “Internet report” from a guy who by all appearances had never reported anything about pro football on the Internet or elsewhere, the absence of contradictory evidence prompted the sports media to accept it as accurate.

For a day.

By Friday evening, multiple contradictory reports had emerged. Perhaps most importantly, Favre had not (and still has not) announced that he won’t be playing for the Vikings.

please don't post articles in their entirety

The Yahoo/PFT catfight continues regarding Favre-ageddon.

No XRay Sent???

After Florio gets all didactic on how to do anonymous reporting, this is part of the post:

quote:
“So, my question to you, because I know you’re interested in media is: Is it really our duty to write the ‘ESPN is full of sh*t’ story just because everyone now assumes — despite evidence to the contrary — that the Vikings are holding X-rays up to the light to see what that weird crook in Favre’s bicep is? Because as of [Saturday], what we wrote is still accurate: Childress and Favre talked on the phone, and that was it. There are no X-rays. Both sides are worried about Favre’s health, and for many reasons, both sides have decided to move on. There is no deal and, according to our source, there will be no deal. And there’s absolutely nothing from Favre’s side to refute that.

Appearently Yahoo has a high ranking queen source for this.

And yea, Florio is sure full of himself.
But, I'd wager the vast majority of posters on this board (not to mention most high-test football fans) read his site regularly. It's simply the best thing out there to calm a football addict's DT's.
