@TomPelissero: The #Vikings waived starting CB Bashaud Breeland after he got into a verbal altercation today at practice with coaches, took off his cleats and got into it with multiple teammates who were trying to calm the situation, sources tell me and @RapSheet. Too much to come back from.

Maybe he had a little to much Viking healing tonic?  Or maybe it was the conflicting defensive instructions.  Either way - same result.

Breeland is the Viking leader with 2 interceptions.  GB pulled in a guy from off the street and it took him only two (recent) games to equal that.

Breeland got off to a terrible start, almost single-handedly costing the Vikings a victory in their season opener in Cincinnati. According to PFF, he missed five tackles in that game, allowed 107 yards and two touchdowns in coverage, and was flagged for pass interference.

On the field, things didn't get much better the rest of the way. Breeland had a couple decent games and created four takeaways (two forced fumbles and two interceptions), but he mostly really struggled to cover and tackle. His 795 yards allowed, per PFF, ranks second among all players at the time of his release. His 15 missed tackles are tied for first among corners. Breeland gave up more than 100 yards in four different games and committed six penalties. He dropped numerous potential interceptions throughout the season, including a couple — against the Cowboys and Lions — that could've prevented losses.

Breeland simply wasn't good enough for the Vikings to tolerate some off-the-field incidents that added up over the course of the season.

In October, Breeland tweeted "I’m convince yal love my Johnson in yal mouth enjoy the win and shut tf up" at fans after a win over the Lions. That came just a couple days after he clapped back at a reporter who brought up his PFF ranking at a press conference, saying that person would be at the bottom of reporter rankings if they existed.

Also in October, Breeland was sued for $15K by neighbors for continually smoking marijuana despite that going against the rules of his apartment complex. The civil suit claimed management of the complex weren't disrupting Breeland because of his status as a Vikings player.

The final straw was the incident at Saturday's practice. Breeland reportedly got into it verbally with Dalvin Cook, Sheldon Richardson, and others before Spielman broke things up.

And that was the end of the line in Minnesota for one of the most spectacular Vikings free agent flops in recent memory.

In his defense, sports reporters deserve this sort of derision.

According to a graphic posted during the game, the vikings have a 31% chance of making the play offs, with their win over the Bears. If they would have lost, or tied, their play off hopes plummet to 7%. I believe they are seeded 7th, in the NFC, right now. They are not done losing, either.

The interior OL for the Vikings is turrible. Hicks for the Bears is an amazing DL but still, Mason Cole got abused horribly last night.

Double Jefferson, create interior push which then rattles Cousins, and decent teams including GB should beat the Queens with no problem

They're only the 7 Seed right now because the Redskins haven't played yet. They play tonight against the Eagles and then all will be back to Normal.

Paul Allen was on "The Big Show" this morning and they asked him about his scuffle with an unnamed Packers coach after the game. He said something PA didn't like and PA went on a short rant about it and something along the lines of he hopes the Packers never win another game.

Well, they got him to name names. It was Jerry Gray. Said he had a lot of respect for Gray and was taken back by what Gray said. Apparently MLF caught wind of the whole thing and called PA. They had a chat and everyone felt better afterwards.

Who the fuck is PA other than annoying play by play douche. I’d love to pit him in a cage with Wayne Larrivee with nothing to defend each other but a steak knife. Completely nude. Whole new definition of “ there’s your dagger!”

PA hosts 9 to noon on KFAN 100.3 out of Minneapolis. And on Fridays, during the season, he does a show from a Buffalo Wild Wings around the metro.
