Skol.
Sniff! I almost feel bad for them! Sniff! Wondering how long before McConnell(?), their HC, wants out of Minnesota? Same for Jefferson.

Completing the circle, this would mean we would see more Z Smith covering Packer wide receivers in the flat
The writer kinda tries to exonerate Kark, for the vikings early playoff exit, in the WC game:
Very similar for Rodgers failing to see a wide open Lazard. The only difference Lazard had NOBODY covering him.

O'Connell should take a bit of heat for calling that play as well. Your OL isn't that great, the Giants like to send heat, you have only three WRs in the game, two of the WRs run deep routes while the third is more of a medium route, and the TE route is far short of the sticks. There's no one really at about the first-down mark where Kark could have gone faster to have a better chance at getting the first down. And you have to know they are going to double Jefferson. Lay that one on the coach as well as Kark not wanting to throw to a covered guy to give him a chance at a play.
Plus they send Jefferson on an out pattern making the sideline almost another defender.

THIS! I saw the replay and I thought where was the plan to get the first down?

In that article I count 8 - not 7 like the title says. 3 for Chiefs, 3 for Eagles, 1 for 49ers, and 1 for Bengals. So if the Eagles and Chiefs win, 6 will still be in it.
I remember a Super Bowl(yet another one the vikings were not in) where the local CBS affiliate in the Twin Cities was reaching for anything, to tie the vikings to a championship. Well, it turned out that one of the officials at the Super Bowl, that year, was a guy named Jerry, from Minnesota. The local anchor, would go out of his way, to show videos of Jerry, making the calls on the field. "There's Jerry!" he would exclaim, with glee, when the camera had Jerry, the ref, on the air. So pathetic and yet, so typical!

While this a thread on how the Queens suck, and they do, the hiring of a competent DC in Minnesota just shines a spotlight on the failures of the team directly east of Minnesota when it comes to the defensive side of the ball.
I hate this hire ... because it reminds all Packer fans what a pathetic hire Joe Barry was in the first place and how disheartening it is that he is now going into year 3 on the job.
A 13 win team replaces their DC. The 8 win team does not.

The old Viking goat roper makes good
Of course the goat roper won that match - it was in Round Robin play. He'll remember his Vikings roots and choke if they get to the playoffs.
I think I recall during a broadcast once the great Collingsworth stating during an important series that at some point in a close game the great ones rise above their coaching and place the game in their hands. Maybe Barry sees all the number 1s investment on the defense and is allowing his players to rise above the coaching?
Could have been worse. MIN could have hired Evero.

Yes we are, but the 13-4 vikings had their fans thinking they were on their way. A soft schedule and delusions that their team was moving up, has to leave a bad taste in their mouths. An 8-9 Packers team would be more of a long shot, to get to the Super Bowl, just because they are under.500. Interesting that the vikings and Packers switched records, this year. Maybe the Packers can benefit from a soft schedule, next season. We'll see how kind the salary cap issues treat each team, this off season, as I've read the vikings may lose a bunch of key players, to the cap, as well.

The Vikings may lose a core of defensive players, which will already hurt their rotten defense: Hunter, Kendricks, H. Smith, Z. Smith is almost certainly gone, Patrick Peterson, Sullivan. In addition, their top draft pick, Cine, had ankle surgery in week 4 and another CB knee surgery in November. In order to keep some of that D, they will have to at least dump/renegotiate Thielen, Cook, Bradbury, and Mattison. And JJ is eligible to renegotiate his salary this year, meaning several insiders say he could add $30 million a year to their cap woes. Sucks to be them!

I had read that even Cook may be gone, as they gave him, what many think, was too much money, in his contract. I never was that high on Cook, as the Packers seemed to be able to stop him, when they faced him, recently. I also read that Thielen wants to retire as a viking. Wondering if that is him, just hoping they don't trade him away, due to his cap hit. I almost feel bad for them. Almost.
