viking's brass knew they needed a QB and the Jets forced them to put up or go without one. They overspent for McCarthy, IMO. Then, the viking brass knew they needed to replace Danielle Hunter, so they panicked, again, and moved up to grab Edge Dallas Turner.  I'm betting viking's fans, both of them, are frothing the mouth because their GM moved up twice, to get "their guy." IMO, they got played twice and gave up a lot of draft capital just to remain near the cellar, in the NFC North.  GO PACK, GO!!!

The quality of both the Bears and the Vikings draft will depend, almost entirely, upon whether they hit on their 1st round QB selection.
If they fail, they will not be contenders.

Rinse, lather (<== this is the fan participation part), repeat.

Let's hear again how the Vikings and Bears had the best "NFC North draft"

One of the more stupid statements I've heard in some time.

Well, I liked their drafts. I always do when they piss away good picks.

Speaking of pissing away drafts...

According to Kiper:

My qualm about GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah's class has more to do with mortgaging the future of this Minnesota roster. He made the move in March to get an extra first-rounder at No. 23, which cost him a second-round pick next year. And to trade up from No. 23 to No. 17, he had to give the Jaguars his 2025 third- and fourth-rounders. That means the Vikings have just three selections next year: one in Round 1 and two in Round 5. With a rookie quarterback under center, are they really in position to go all-in right now? This is after they had just two picks in Rounds 1-3 this year.

I wouldn't put it past Payton to take credit even if he had absolutely nothing to do with it. It's also in pretty poor taste to admit publicly that you totally hoodwinked another team. No one wants to do business with a guy and/or team that would publicly humiliate you.

That said, it couldn't happen to a more deserving team!

So basically he was helping the Jets?? I mean the Jets fleeced the Vikings to swap picks 10 and 11

Payton talking about it shows us what a douchebag the guy is. This isn't the last draft on the planet. GMs have fairly long memories.

I was thinking it was the Dallas Turner pick that the vikings moved up for that Payton was involved with. In order to move up, the vikings had to give away  more draft capital. Next year, the vikings have only three picks in the draft, in total. Nice job, Kwesi! Nice job, Payton! By the time the vikings are able to exact any kind of revenge, Kwesi will, most likely, have been fired as their GM. I hope not.

I remember a couple decades ago....Redskins (Bobby Beathard) and Chargers GMs (same guy) always using next year's picks to do what they needed in current years draft

Interesting way to handle it....screwing the franchise until you get fired, then the next guy gets handed a pile of shit to work with & it takes 3 years to undo all the damage.

But hey....keep going Kwesi! We like it!!

Vikings fans are not worried about the few draft picks they have next year. They are saying the team will have 80 billion dollars in cap money to buy whoever they want. You have to love those losers....

SF has been doing a lot of that lately.  But Lynch has been good enough with the picks he does have and with his big FA signings.  Though those bills look like they may start coming due.

They also stepped in unicorn poop with Purdy.  Saved some jobs.

I think Kwesi may be gone soon if McCarthy turns out to be anything but a franchise savior. Kwesi will be the one to likely lose Jefferson, he wasted an earlier draft on a slew of CBs who can't play, brought in an oft-injured RB, and mortgaged future picks for a win-today shot without recognizing he doesn't have the players to carry it out. Not a good recipe for long-term employment.

I absolutely hate the Niners but I will give Lynch credit he has kept that franchise near the top of the NFL for a few years now with not much draft capital but when they do make moves it almost always works out for them.

As you said the bills will start coming due soon.  They are going to have to pay Purdy at some point and there are going to be others who want a pay day soon.  Will they make it work?  Knowing them they probably will somehow.

His seat was getting warm so drafting a RD1 QB always buys you at least another year.  But you're right in that his job likely rests on the fortunes of a guy named McCarthy.

The difference is that the Redskins (and maybe even the Chargers) would hire Beatherd all over again. The Redskins won 2 Super Bowls with him as the GM and the Chargers made it to their only Super Bowl with him as the GM.

Ironically, one of the main reasons he got fired by the Chargers for keeping the #2 overall pick (which he got in a very good trade the previous year as a future pick) and drafting Ryan Leaf.

I think trading 1st Round picks (and other draft picks) for established players/stars was a good strategy, and it worked out well for the Redskins.  But that was before a salary cap.  Since the cap and mega contracts (especially for not-quite-elite QBs), you need those picks to draft star/soon-to-be star players with lower cap hits.

But the Vikings were. That's the guy they really wanted and they couldn't get the Skins or Pats to trade down with them.

If you wanted him so bad....you should've paid the piper.

I guarantee you Pats trade down if the Vikings throw in next year's first. You want the franchise QB up top?? You're gonna pay!

An equal trade on the point value chart is never gonna happen you losers.

Didn't the report from Fowler say they offered their 1st Rounder in 2025?

"The #Vikings offered the #Patriots the 11th and 23rd overall picks, plus their 2025 first-rounder, in exchange for No. 3 and two mid-round selections, per

And next year's draft is expected to be much deeper in rounds 4-7.

Moving up, to get Maye, this draft, would mean that next year the vikings would probably have only two picks, in the entire draft! And those would be in the 5th round. They would have to trade players to get more picks. Never a hint of draft and develop in viking land. Draft and trade away the future, is what Kwesi will do! What a turrible organization!
