Honestly.....I cannot believe ATL didn't match Kyle Pitts with Brock Bowers. Friggin nightmare 😱to defend.

That's what I expect out of Kraft & Musgrave.

my good friend teaches in Wittenberg, WI, home of Nueske's smoked pig products (drool), for the last few years, has been a substitute before but full time since covid

he sent me this today in one of our football discussions:

"A kid in art class today made a blue and yellow poster with the word “Vinkigs” and I told him to leave it because it was perfect."

indeed

Haha. Now that he's no longer a Viking I can admit he's a good QB. Definitely better than mediocre. But he's the new Philip Rivers. Good looking stats most of the time but it doesn't translate to success.

If he makes a good recovery and plays 4 more years he'll be in that same club with Rivers. HOF numbers but a very "meh" career as far as January and later are concerned.

Tonyan signs with the queens (means he will have been on all 4 NFC North teams). Guessing Hockensucks wont be ready to start the season after  his late acl tear last year.

A real positive in this is that Preston Smith is probably athletic enough in open space to cover Tonyan if the new DC wants to bring back one of Barry's go-to schemes.

A more than mediocre QB that hasn't won shit.  Not a good leader either.

I think teammates like Cousins. He works hard, isn't a prima donna, and seems to be a good teammate.  It's just that he's the king of the check down when you need to lift your team by making a play downfield.

Interesting thought question - if Kirk Cousins had been the Packers QB in the playoffs in 2020 and 2021, would the Packers have won more playoff games then they did with Rodgers? Their regular season record wouldn't have been as good, but Cousins would probably actually have thrown to the guys that are open rather than lock onto D. Adams like happened in almost every late-career Rodgers playoff game.

Don't think so

Cousins locks onto Jefferson except when he was locking onto Hockenson...
5 yards short of the 1st down marker.

Kirk just isn't very bright and that's what holds him back.
Under pressure, too often he folds.

Sometimes its the pressure of prime time TV that gets him and sometimes its the pressure of the down/distance. Kirk has been in the league 12 years and has won exactly 1 playoff game, same as 1st year starter Jordan Love

Given that data, I can't support your supposition.

Packers may not have even made the playoffs with Cousins as starting QB in 2020 and 2021.  Your theory  holds no water.

And if they had, would Cousins have kept those games close enough to set up a late game critical moment like those games had?

No surprise

@AdamSchefter:  WR Justin Jefferson, who has been in talks with the Vikings regarding a contract extension, was not spotted at the team’s training facility today for the start of organized team activities, per team sources.

Jefferson....a guy that Gutey wanted during that draft.....Vikings will just franchise tag him if they can't get to an agreement.

Next year? Yeah, they could do that. He's under contract for almost $20 million this year.

Franchise money for a WR is going to get pretty crazy with all these $30 million contracts being thrown around.

Their best bet is to agree to a deal now and bow to his demands.

Apparently the vikes were entertaining the idea of trading Jefferson during the draft. They made overtures to the Chargers for pick # 5 so they could draft Jefferson's replacement ( Nabers/Odunze)

Paying J.J. doesn't make much sense given where the team is in its development
But not paying J.J. will have serious repercussions in the locker room...

NFL DCs will load up vs rookie QB McCarthy and make him try to beat them, but he's just not ready for that level of assignment yet.

J.J. and his agents probably want out, but the huge trade compensation and the elite salary leave only a few suitors.

3 C teams might make sense: Commanders, Cardinals, Cowboys

Commanders = Not a chance, they just drafted Jayden Daniels

Cardinals - possibly (goes right with your 'might') - depends on Murray

Cowboys - Best shot of the 3. Makes the most sense  I'm pretty sure they don't want to pay Dak

It will be interesting to see where the WR market goes. Right now, the inflation happening with those contracts is almost exponential, but when was the last time it worked out to invest in a superstar WR?

Kansas City had arguably the most impactful WR in the NFL in Tyreke Hill. He's not necessarily the best, but his speed completely the changes a defensive scheme in ways that are different from even other elite WRs like Jefferson, D. Adams, Chase, or Diggs. Kansas City decided to trade him away rather than pay him, and they've won the last two Super Bowls with pedestrian WRs (although with a HOF TE). When you have Mahomes, two feet of separation is all you need (rather than 10 feet from a guy that runs a 4.29).

If you have an elite QB, you are better off with 3 good, but not great, WRs each making 10 million than with one guy making 30. Or, better yet, a WR on a rookie contract playing WR along with a couple of mid-priced veterans.

Maybe if you have a pedestrian QB on a rookie deal who needs a lot of separation to be comfortable making throws, the D. Adams type is worth it.
