So the Vikings have named Sam Darnold as the starter when full training camp opens.  This won't end good and I am very happy about that.

Watch the vikings say that they are "developing" McCarthy and that is why Darnold is starting.

Actually a smart move. Takes the pressure off the rookie.

Would not surprise me if this is just posturing by the Vikings brass.  McCarthy (his agent) apparently wants his entire signing bonus up front, something the Vikings have never done.  Also, as mentioned, takes a little pressure off of him if he comes out of the gate in TC a little slow/off. If he doesn't hold out, and he plays well, they'll name him the starter for week 1.

Going to disagree with you here brother.  I think it puts more pressure on J J. What has Sam Darnold ever done in the NFL?  Big fat ZERO!!!  So if the Vikings get off to a bad start and then bring in J J he will be expected to win and win now. It won't happen and down goes his confidence.

And that is why I said it won't end well.

Lots of teams give the rookie a nice low bar to clear, in order to build his confidence and show the locker room he "earned" it.

vikes start out @ NYG, 49ers, Texans, @ Packers, Jets. That looks like 1-5 to me and its probably better to hang that yoke around Darnold's neck and spare the youngster.

They can ‘develop’ him all they want. IMO he’s the least talented first round quarterback picked in years, I actually want him to start simply because he sucks!

Less talented than Trubisky?

Going 1-5 in five games would be quite the feat.

(Now I wish I'd saved the link to the poll on the Vikings' record that was predicated on them playing a 12-game season....)

But what happens if the rookie comes in a goes 0 - 4?  How is his confidence then?  How much confidence will the team have in him?

I think Pratt was the better pick, between the two--and we got him in the 7th Round. Minnesota sold the farm to move up to get McCarthy. The vikings wanted Drake Maye but NE ruined that, for the vikings. I think Pratt will turn out to be a better QB than Maye, as well, over his career.

NFL Network is replaying Super Bowl XI, right now. Oakland vs vikings. A thing of beauty! Kenny Stabler and Co dominating the Minnesota vikings. Raiders up 16-0 just before halftime.

At the Rose Bowl eh?
I was there.

More viking suckage coming up. NFL Network is replaying the December 1, 2002 Game with the Falcons at the vikings. Dan Reeves coaching Atlanta and Mikenstein Tice coaching the vikings.  Duante Culpepper vs Michael "Mad Dog" Vick.

Just to hold you all over thru the dead time, here is the full version of the Viking choke compilation

And if that isn't enough, the Vikings Legacy of Failure - which I know was posted somewhere before, should keep you entertained for a while.

IN all, about 20 minutes of why they can't win a SB.

Sniff! Things of freaking beauty, Ghost of Lambeau!

Just read Vikings CB Kyree Jackson was killed in an auto accident. Truly sad. The kid was just drafted and now his life is over before it gets started. RIP Kid. You never know. Embrace every day you never know when it will be your last.

TMZ has pics of the wrecked car. Looks like the damage my brothers Jeep Grand Cherokee suffered after a semi rear ended him full speed in AZ when traffic was mostly stopped due to a sand storm a few years ago. Jaws of life got my brother out with only a broken back, now healed. But sister in law not so fortunate, Jaws of life and first responders could not extract her without severing her spine to save her life. Confined now to a wheelchair and lots of med problems. Speed kills, in more ways than one.
