Purdy has FOUR TIMES the number of career playoff wins as Cousins.  Think about that.

If Cousins was playing in SF, do you honestly believe he'd still have ONE playoff win?

Purdy is an average QB, with elite weapons around him plus an elite LT & world class play caller.

His 2 biggest plays vs. Detroit were scrambles for first downs.

He's not better than Kark by a long shot.

Look at the final 8 QBs....in the divisional round. (7) 1st rounders....and him....if you can't see he's an anomaly.....I don't know what to tell you.

There is no way Shanahan wants Cousins.

You sure about that?? Kyle loves Cousins...

Trust me.....if he's available for the right price, Kyle is all over it

Are you shitting me??   Nobody gives a flying fuck what Scam Newton thinks.  Except maybe you.

Let this be our reminder that Cam Newton with 4 mins to go in the Super Bowl, down 6, fumbled on his own 15 yard line and instead of jumping on the ball, actively backed away from it, allowing Denver to get first and goal and put the game away.

Straight up loser.

And that play made Newton a pariah on his own team and in the league. He never had the solid backing of his teammates again because he didn't go all out to have their backs. The only thing I'd listen to Newton about would be how to back away to keep from getting hurt on a football field.

NFL Network is replaying the 1999 NFC Championship game between the Atlanta Falcons and the Minnesota vikings. Gary Anderson just missed the FG that would begin the kicker curse in Minnesota! 122 straight FGs by Anderson, until that one. A thing of freaking beauty!!!

My favorite non-Packers sports moment.  I was living in Minnesota at the time and the bandwagon fans were in full force.  Everything was purple, cars were flying Viking flags.  They were 15-1.  Gary Anderson hadn’t missed.  They put together a Will Smith “Welcome to Miami” remix that played every 30 minutes on the radio station my a-hole co-workers listened to….

It was hell.  Packers had gone to back-to-back super bowls the 2 years before, so they had all kinds of pent-up hatred that was fully in my face.  Then, this happened:

After that miss and the resulting Atlanta win, I opened my front door and sounded my barbaric yawp over the roofs of the world.  The next day, driving to work I saw a lone Viking flag abandoned in a dirty snowbank.  So perfect.

The rest of my top three is rounded out by:

#2 The Favre pick in the NFCC game against the saints. “But why do you even ponder passing? I mean you can take a knee and try a 56-yard field goal!  This is not Detroit, man, this is the Super Bowl!”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UUeqvquXZI

#3 The 4th and 24 Josh McNown to Nate Poole buzzer beater in 2003.  “Noooo! Noooooo! The Cardinals have knocked the Vikings out of the playoffs…. There are Minnesota Vikings crying on the field!”  The results of that game (1) eliminated the Vikings from getting into the playoffs, (2) allowed the Packers to get in the playoffs, and (3) sent my wife into labor (I’m convinced….  my son was born shortly after).

In the spirit of this thread, it’s not lost on me that all three involve heartbreaking losses for the Vikings.  Hate that team.

The chip shot game winning miss by Blair Walsh against Seattle is a very underrated moment.  The videos from fans in the stands signaling it was good

“Are you kidding me?!? The season CAN’T end like that!!!!!”

The icing on top of that Anderson miss is that MIN was still up by 7 with a few minutes left.  The agony had only just begun.  Their D then had to poop themselves and let ATL score a TD, then give up the game winning drive in OT.  They put it all on the kicker but it was a team failure on the second biggest stage of the season.  I think it was the karmic stink of Moss more than anything - NEP will confirm.

Check out the guy in the middle right behind the goal post. Tan shirt. Signaling good before the ball is kicked then has to sit his ass down in disbelief!

The day the vikings lost to Atlanta happened to be the same day Black Sabbath performed at the Target Center on their reunion tour. Pantera was the opening band, and halfway through their set the singer said  "Nice  game by your vikings. How does that happen?" Needless to say he was booed mercilesslily, and things were thrown at him after he said that.

This upcoming draft can't happen soon enough. Viking fans are going Ape- Sheet over the speculation of what there going to do and what QB there going to get. Suicide alerts will be going up all over the state of they don't draft a QB and roll with Darnold.

I mean, they still have to move into position to GET one of the leftover QB's...without next year;s 2, that's gonna probably mean next year's 1...?

I wouldn't have done it, but they are under a lot of pressure right now to do something to show they are not a can of tuna.

they kind of feel like the falcons to me, signing cousins and handicapping themselves for the future...good offense but let's see what the d can do? same story with the queens.  if they don't have a qb JJ is gone for sure...

Someone is going to get a franchise rebuilding haul out of that desperate team. Jimmy Johnson knows all about that.

Yes. Moss was arguably on the two best regular season teams that failed to win a title on freak occurrences.

15-1 Vikings (16-1 including the first playoff game) lose a game when a kicker that hadn't missed all year misses in a dome. That miss may have cost Gary Anderson a HOF induction given that he was on the both the all-decade 1980s and 1990s NFL Hall of Fame lists as one of the kickers.

16-0 Patriots (18-0 including playoffs) lose on the helmet catch.

You almost feel sorry for Moss, who is the second best WR of all time (and the most physically talented WR of all time). ALMOST

The Vikings are betting on a QB in the draft to form a "great duo" with JJ for the foreseeable future. The only issue is that JJ may not want to wait until the future. He wants to get paid, and he wants to win. This draft is the Vikings GM's watershed moment. While he's had only two drafts, they have not been notable. Click here and scroll down to see who he's chosen. Addison has so far been a definite hit, but others? Not so much.

Maybe I'm wrong but I just don't see it with JJ. Nothing he does is special - decent athlete, so-so arm, average processor, not really strong pocket presence, slight frame. All of his traits are just good enough to make you think he can improve upon them but none of them are actually great. Nothing he does screams top 5 pick or franchise QB. He seems like that QB that drifts to the top of the draft only because too many teams need a QB, not because he's actually good. Like Mac Jones in 2021 but worse b/c JJ is going top 5. He and Bo Nix are second round talents that unfortunately will be asked to be franchise QBs on day one because they'll be over drafted.  The QB epidemic in the NFL has more to do with that than a lack of talent at the position.

And no, this isn't me being biased b/c he's going to the Vikings. There was talk a month ago about the Broncos drafting him at 12 and thought that was hysterical. Now the Broncos fans are talking themselves into Nix at #12.

Don Hutson agrees.

F Moss!
He's a classless, low-life asshole.

Unfortunately, he was a supremely talented WR. I still think he was more lucky than good, but he took advantage of that luck.
He did have an excellent combination of speed, size, and hands. Handy traits to have when you catch footballs for a living.
Bastard.

Hey CU and others, the JJ here is Justin Jefferson. The Jeffersonian JJ is a great WR who's had the bad luck to a) have three-yards-and-a-cloud-of-turf, never-throw-a-contested-ball Cousins as his QB, and b) not have anyone else on the roster to take some pressure off him until Addison--and yet JJ still excels.

I think MN wants to get a QB to also show JJ they are serious about keeping him. But they are selecting a QB in kind of a thin year for QBs, and they are going to throw him into the fire immediately; their vision is to grab the next Stroud. I really don't see a Stroud or even a Levis in this draft. I'm not even sure I like Williams much, but Chicago is trying to surround him with good players to take off the pressue. MN would have been better served by keeping Cousins for a year and selecting an understudy. But it's MN.
