That giant sucking sound ...
Brandon Bostick among the Vikings' cuts this evening.
They still suck.
Back injury no bueno for an OL.
Vikings' C John Sullivan underwent a lumbar microdiscectomy Weds and has been placed on IR designated to return. Out until at least week 9.

That's a huge blow. He's their best o-lineman and one of the better centers in the league while also being a good guy.
Peterson is on pace for 496 yards this season
Bridgeunderwater is on pace to Suck
Peterson only has 2469 yards to go to reach his prediction of 2500 yards.
Viking fans were frothing at the mouth over the promise of this season. They were the sneaky good pick.
The Viking zeolots will let Paul Allen convince them it's just 1 game. They will rebound. They get Detroit next week!!!
Rinse. Repeat.
How about a couple uplifting Viking fan comments?
WHOLLY ARMSTRENGTH! Good to know when we really need a Hail Mary, Bridgewater will check down on that too! PATHETIC!
Dear Coach Zim
My wife thanks you, and my boss thanks you for giving me one fewer thing to pay attention to this fall...
SKOL!
i didn't watch much, but i saw the blocked fg and then I said, well that's 7-0 just hand off to AP, not once...sucky playcalling there; thought the gunslinger was in there for a minute.
At least that game kept me laughing wondering what suck was going to happen next. AP looks like End-of-Day when he doesn't have a hole to hit; the Vikes' OL was a mess; and the DL got pushed around. For the 9ers, I have to (unfortunately) give Kaeperdink some credit as he didn't take off running every chance he got. But then, he wasn't under much pressure either.
That game looked like it was the third preseason game instead of an opener.
You can't take an entire YEAR off playing professional football & expect to have "it" again.
AP = 30 years old. I don't think he's going to make it to the 2,500 yards this season.
P.S. people in my FF league laughed at me for picking Eddie Lacy instead of AP #1 overall. Who's laughing now ass holes?
All you had to do was look at the Olines and Lacy over AP is an easy call... And AP's age/rust/whatever showed last night when he had the chance to take the outside hole or make the guy coming in miss and he never did. He just kept plowing forward like the sea was supposed to magically part for him. He'll get better, but how much better remains to be seen.
I'm not an NFL head coach. But if I have a RB that sat for a year that wasn't injured. He just sat out for a year. I might want to think about giving him 4 to 5 carries in a couple preseason games just to bust some of that rust loose.
17 games in and I've come to the conclusion Zimmer might not be a mental giant.
but but but what if he got a hangnail during one of those 4 or 5 carries? the season could be lost. you don't increase a man's salary in the offseason just to play him in the preseason. too funny. nothing's changed in queenland. go cut some switches AP and punish yourself for your lousy performance.
yeah, I thought these quotes were special. woulda thought they'd come from a preseason game not the 1st regular season game:
"You really just need to be more patient, allow the pulling guard to get on his block and hit it up in there. Those are the ones I felt like I was kind of hesitant on. I really wanted to hit like I was coming out of the I formation.""It's different, because I have to get that speed (from a shallower start)," Peterson said. "But you can be successful. The guys did a great job with it last year, and I feel like I can run in any type of formation. If we continue to work on the things we need to work on, we will improve."
The Vikings in this game kind of reminded me of what the Packers did on opening day in Detroit back in 2005. Really bad offensive line severely limited what Favre (obviously Bilgewater is no Favre, but you get where I'm going with this) and Green were able to do. The Pack finished 4-12 that year.

I guess his training regime of fostering illegitimate kids, and then using them as a punching bags isn't helping

I'm already tired if the excuse making for JJ Walker
Err, that's not a brawl. That's a beatdown of some loud mouthed Vikings fan. Probably tried t o convince the 9ers fans that it was unfair of them to have so many titles.
Jerry Rice could kick? A couple of those would have been good from 60.
Football Outsiders on Teddy Montana
#31. Teddy Bridgewater MIN
Bridgewater actually moved the ball pretty well on his own side of the field, but he was impotent in anything resembling scoring range.
Inside the 49ers 45, he went 3-of-9 for 8 yards (seriously) and no first downs, while getting sacked three times for a net loss of 30 yards. That is -1.8 yards per play on 12 dropbacks.
He also had no luck, and I do mean no luck, keeping drives alive. On third and fourth downs, he went 3-of-6 for 11 yards and no conversions, with three sacks for a net loss of 38 yards.
That is -3.0 yards per play on nine dropbacks.
"A couple times (he) didnât pull the trigger when he had opportunities to, and even when itâs third down, he goes and slides and almost doesnât get the first down instead of going headfirst and getting the first down"
Zimmer on Teddy's decision making last night.
Zimmer is a moron.

Eddie DeBartolo taught him that move.

Zimmer is a moron.
Blame it on the all inclusive sophomore slump.
"I do not think that Teddyâs going to throw another clunker," Zimmer said. "Iâve never seen that side of him. I think itâs probably just an enigma that this happened. But weâre going to have to find out with what we see."
As a casual, I'm absolutely certain we will see Teddy throw more than just another clunker. I cannot see the infatuation with him. His deep balls appear to (always) have too much air under them.

Zimmer seems like an excellent DC. As a head coach, he tosses his guys -- and himself -- under the bus way too often. In this case, he should have stopped after the first sentence. His rambling on only brings to light his skepticism of Teddy's mind/performance and you don't want to question in the media your QB's ability to shake off a bad game.
Does the QBR include the number of enigmas in a game?
I laughed several times throughout the game at some of the over thrown passes Bridgewater had. A couple were over thrown by a good 5-10 yards. The "hail mary" at the end of the first half was downright hilarious. It was Ponder-esque.
He had 232 yards passing, 57 of them on that drive before halftime where the 49ers were rushing 1 guy. But hey he completed over 70% of his passes, so he must be pretty damn awesome.
Reading comments in the strib I saw a new nickname.
Pondwater
"Pondwater" That's definitely his new name
Anybody who was in the military can relate to the term "Pond Water".
Vikings decided to give the stadium workers a nice knit cap for all their hard work.
New stadium is over budget. Maybe leaving an N out is part of Zygi's cost recovery program.
Thanking the people that built your stadium with a defective knit cap that won't be worn inside an enclosed stadium. Everything about that operation smells like fail.
"We're not good" after he admits he stunk. Ponder 2.0.
There is a pattern to their fail.
