Suh got a multiple game suspension for stomping EDS last year and this (IMHO) was considerably worse. I doubt there were many people not cringing when they saw the replay of Suh kicking Matt Schaub in his naughty place. But the NFL tends to underpunsih players, especially their marquee names. So while I feel he should be suspended for a year, my guess is that it will be considerably less and that the player's union will argue it down even more.

I mentioned in a couple of other threads: Didn't Nick Fairly actually do what you wanted him to do?!?! His instincts said 'throw Rodgers to the ground', but then he let up. Maybe prior disciplinary actions actually worked. HE DIDN'T BODY SLAM RODGERS!!! Why do several posters think he did something wrong??? Had he gone through with his actions, the Packers season could quite possibly be over.
If I were the Commissioner, he'd be out for the rest of the season. If this were a first time offense, maybe that would be too harsh a penalty, but Suh clearly hasn't learned from past sanctions levied against him. Throw the book at him.

Hopefully it will be a wake up call to Suh's teammate Nick Fairley, as well. That guy is a ticking time bomb. He's gonna end a QB's season with a cheap shot before it's all said and done. I'm amazed the dum dum had the sense to not drill Rodgers into the ground last week.
I hate to say it, but I think the leg extending at the last bit was him rolling to get up. I have to agree with the accidental.

My reasoning is, if you watch the play his face is down and turning away. If I felt like he was looking back to do it, then it'd be different.

I agree with accidental. Even as much as I wish I could say not so much, but... to me its just football at that point.
Wow, I heard descriptions of it and it sounded uncertain to me. But after watching it, I have no doubt it was intentional. I think from the beginning his leg was extended as he's falling in order to hit Schaub... and he knew where Shaub was as the falling starts. Then he misses as he's going down so has to extend the leg a second time to score a direct hit. No doubt in my mind. The as he gets up he tries to avoid looking at Schaub because he knows exactly what he just did. I don't know if it's enough for the NFL to act on, but I think it's pretty darned clear he did as he intended.

Plus, I think Suh CAN see Schaub a second before the second kick. He takes a quick look at him before he strikes out.
Seriously, I still don't think so as much as folks may watching a slow motion replay.

Have you ever been thrown down like that wrestling or whatnot? At that point you are engaged in your current physical situation. I seriously doubt that in those milliseconds between him getting thrown down by the OG that he thought "oh hell, lets kick the QB in the nuts".

NOW. I do want to clarify.

I am not defending him. I do not have any love for Suh or his campaign to make him better for the public. Karma would work itself out, but I still don't feel it was intentional.

Cavetoad, I think you have it reversed. Based on his history, Suh's core instinct is to kick a QB or any other player. I seriously doubt that in those milliseconds between getting thrown down by the OG that he could think "oh hell, I want to kick Schaub but I won't because it's wrong, I might hurt someone, or I might get suspended if I do." What one does naturally in those milliseconds tells you all you need to know. As Music City said, dirty is as dirty does...
Let's see...Ed Reed got a 1 game suspension for 'not learning his lesson', and because he makes almost 1/2 million per game, it gets reduced to a 50k fine. Confused

Granted, he was in trouble for h2h contact, but the 'punishment' was for repeated infractions, not the one particular hit. This is what Suh should fall under as well, if there's going to fair-and-balanced punishments to players by the league. Not necesarily for this one infraction, but rather, for repeat offenses. The biggest difference may be that Suh wasn't penalized.
Maybe we'll find out Tuesday. Does Badell talk out both sides of his mouth about player safety again, or do they issue a suspension/fine and prepare for the inevitable appeal?
I don't think there's any question of intent; I liken it to sliding into 2nd with your spikes high.

My opinion on the Fairley action on ARod? In spite of talking heads gushing about "what a great play that was" by him for not following through, that should have been a personal foul for "continuing the action". Once he begins to shake Rodgers like a rag doll, that was unnecessary, and he should have been penalized. There wasn't anything 'great' about his actions.

All in all I thought the Lions got away with lots of marginal hits and late hits.

And they STILL lost. Those things don't replace good football - I'm just happy they haven't figured that out yet. With the talent they have, they should be doing more. Just helping the Pack to another dividion title. What are we to do???

As for Suh, I think the only thing that will help him is a brain transplant.
Suh did it. You can see as he's rolling over he is still looking at Schaub and then he forcibly extends his leg out to nail him. From the position he's in, if he were trying to get his balance, he would have brought his leg down toward the ground to get his leg under him as soon as possible to quickly get up. Instead, his head is looking toward Schaub and he punches his leg out, then brings it back to the ground and gets up. Of course it's on purpose.

That said, although you guys may disagree just based on the placement of the kick Big Grin I think his EDS stomp was worse because it was so blatant. But once again, Suh trashes his name and that of the Lions on one of the most public games of the year, on top of his earlier transgressions. Dude deserves to be gone for the rest of the season.
per Darin Gantt at PFT:

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello just tweeted out news that will be a relief to the Lions.

β€œOur office has notified the Lions that Suh will not be suspended for last Thursday’s incident. It will be reviewed for a potential fine.”

no surprise to me there. it's only concussions that matter in roger's safety world.
