Clay? I can't get over his last box score.
Yeah 1-3 years tops. No huge investment. We can’t dismiss veteran depth, we just can’t overpay for it. TT did both and it set us back.
Obviously, Matthews is situational at this point but considering there is zero depth he's not a bad option if he isn't playing a ton of downs like he is now. It's the proverbial Connor Barwin type signing.
I'm less tolerant than many. No more.
No, you'll both let it go right now....and if you don't.....just try me.
I'm super good. Tight even.
You’re a lot of things but good ain’t one of them.

Nice edit by the way. No more what?
That was my (H5) edit.
Some interesting articles floating around this week about some vets who could be back at the right price and the right role. I'd be olay with that. STs needs talent, so some of that vet depth will be needed.

LOL! Just saw this.
Bulaga at, what, $7mm next year is cheap in today's NFL. He'll be back, IMO.
I'd move on from Graham.

You had mentioned Ibrahem. Pleasant hasn't been horrible either. These guys aren't world beaters but we honestly don't know what these guys can contribute when they aren't being brought in on the fly.
Article on JSonline about Pettine and Whitt, Whitt stated there are more players in starting or contributing roles right who weren't originally in TC. Add in the rookie element and you end up with a mystery as to who can actually contribute next year.
Considering the depth of defense in this year's draft, I would hope FA is devoted to finding Oline depth/starters so they can throw the kitchen sink at defense and skill positions in the draft.
Pleasant has been fine, Campbell was a better box Safety than Jones or Brice. Wouldn’t be upset if either are retained. Pleasant is already over 30 though, definitely a journeyman. Let him compete though, worse case scenario is he provides some veteran leadership in the offseason and in camp.

I don't see any other teams making a silly offer for either. Seems likely, possibly necessary, they'd return. The biggest thing with Cobb is he's been a casualty of a stale offense as well. I do think he can still play and depending on who the HC/OC is will likely determine his worth more than anything. A new offense might also prevent him from getting his bell rung quite as much.
Matthews at MLB makes sense. I actually think his sack numbers would increase playing behind Daniels, Clark and Wilkerson.

I agree that both are potentially strong contributors. The problem is health. Cobb should be a Darren Sproles type, but the McCarthy scheme never really utilized slot guys like Cobb well. Instead of scheming to get slot guys in space, it was set up to have big, physical receivers like Nelson win one on one matchups. Also, Cobb's latest concussion doesn't sound good. He needs to consider his long term health. He's only 28, but he's an old 28.

CM3 is a different story. I think the wear and tear has cost him the flexibility and explosiveness that made him a HOF-level player at the beginning of his career. He's had 23 sacks the last 4 years after having 60 his first 6.
He should transition to a Defensive Coordinator on the field type and play ILB as you suggest. I still think he'll do this in Cleveland. His father played in Cleveland for 16 years and played in more games for that franchise than anyone other than Lou Groza (a kicker). Playing for his father's team as a veteran leader that helps get them back to the playoffs with an entire front office that knows him from Green Bay makes too much sense not to happen.
Why didn't anyone tell me there was a GIF party
You missed it. I'll send the GIF signal out next time.
It did seem to cleanse the palet, as intended.
IMO, Cobb staying (even at a reduced salary) highly depends on if Gutenschweiger believes that Allison is their #2 WR and if they expect him to come back in 2019 healthy.
If the answer is yes, I don't see Cobb back, even at a discount rate. Early in the season Gerinomo looked more and more like a #2 behind Cobb. I think had he not gotten hurt, Cobb would have gotten less play time. He looked crisp, his routes were good and the chemistry was there with 12.
Even active, Cobb outside the opening game against the Bears hasn't looked anything like a #2 since 2015
It’s a mistake looking at future viability for any player on offense within the context of offensive production over the past 4 years.
Can they contribute if utilized properly and effectively? Cobb is a huge yes IMO for the right money. And as much as it pains me to say. So is Trevor Davis. A guy that the staff never developed or really figured out how to use effectively.
Personally, I’m less excited about a new HC than I am about the prospects of a competent group of assistants and coordinators.
I’ll close with this. Someone on the sideline needs to hand walking papers to Ron Zook and David Raih the instant the clock hits 0:00 on Sunday.
G-Mo is better than Cobb now, and was back in TC. The question I have is can he be a solid #2?
Just because Trevor Davis has speed doesn't mean he fits. The receivers that were drafted this year have passed him up and even Kumerow is ahead of him as a receiver.
To me, Davis is a returner and a decent returner is worth the spot. I can't remember the last time when he had meaningful snaps at WR so I'm not sure if he was a dipshit or couldn't catch the ball or both. Both comes to mind.
A decent returner is definitely worth a spot, and Davis was more than decent last season. Gutekunst needs to find a No. 4 or 5 WR or a No. 3 RB who can also return kicks and punts.
