  • Rodgers injured Nov. 4th
  • Rodgers Scanned Nov. 5th – type of break/baseline determined: is this a 4 week or 8 week recovery? It is not a displaced fracture but a spiral fracture so the 6-8 week timeline is communicated to Rodgers, McCarthy, whoever… (Jordy confirmed this with his comments)
  • On or about Dec. 4th Rodgers had a scan (likely just the 2nd scan) and he reported that his cracked left collarbone hadn’t progressed much. This would be ~ 30 days post injury and would be a typical time for when a 2nd scan would occur to check progress. Anything prior to 4 weeks post injury would expose the patient to unnecessary radiation and likely not show sufficient progress regardless of how the patent felt.
  • Dec. 16 – Rodgers wants another scan but McKenzie tells him based on the progress from scan 1 to scan 2 another scan so soon after #2 would likely not show enough progress to clear him and again would expose him to unnecessary radiation. He also tells AR to follow and trust the plan.
  • Dec. 23 – Rodgers is scanned for a 3rd time, 7 weeks post injury. McKenzie reviews the scan and sees sufficient healing to medically clear Rodgers.
  • Dec. 24 – McKenzie meets with McCarthy, Rodgers, and maybe Thompson to discuss the scan results and the risks associated with Rodgers returning to the field at this point. (Spiral fractures of the Clavicle can take months to fully heal and there remains of [re]injury)

MERRY CHRISTMAS Packers fan!

I hope not.  It is cold and many of us are spending time with people that encourage/demand libations.  Ice is seasonally plentiful.

Scroll down for pictures. This kid took 12 weeks to heal with an operation.

Don't think Rodgers injury is this bad.

It takes longer to heal if you're not using HGH.

I think that if Rodgers is declared able to play today that he could have played last Sunday but they thought they could win without him and decided to err on the side of caution and wait a week.  I doubt his condition has changed that much in four days from last Friday when it was announced he wasn't going to play to today.

Based on what we are hearing on the radidio the Packers know every week by Tuesday if Rodgers is ready. Last week they decided on Tuesday, just didn't tell anyone before Friday.

See the time-line I posted above, not that far-fetched.

Or they are operating under standard practices for this kind of break.  And your body is an amazing thing, even a extra day of healing makes a difference.

RODGERS: “I think it’s easier for everybody if we get this decision out the way Thursday and move forward.”

@ESPNMilwaukee

RODGERS: “I thought there would be a lot more healing that would’ve gone on. Learned a lot about the clavicle and blood flow or lack of.”

@ESPNMilwaukee

RODGERS: “I think we all wish it wasn’t as dramatic as it has been, but we’ve got to go through the process.”

@ESPNMilwaukee

RODGERS: “Probably some frustration out there about the way things have been handled or the information sharing….

RODGERS: “Ultimately, there is four people who have a really good pulse of what is going on. Everybody else is making conjectures.”

@ESPNMilwaukee

RODGERS: “If you want to be mad at anything in this situation, be mad at the fact that my collarbone hasn’t healed the way we want it to.”

@ESPNMilwaukee

RODGERS: “Any type of hypotheses or guesses about what’s going on.. is highly inappropriate.”

@ESPNMilwaukee

RODGERS: “Anyone from the organization who talks without putting his name on it is a coward.

@ESPNMilwaukee

RODGERS: “It’s a lot like preseason. When you have a long layoff, it’s always good to get that first hit.. as long as you can get back up"

@ESPNMilwaukee

RODGERS: “You take that first hit, throw that first pass, the adrenaline gets going and you get right back into it.”

@ESPNMilwaukee

RODGERS: “Something to be said about home-field advantage. The NFC looks pretty wide-open at this point.”

 Easier than waiting until Friday I guess.

Schefter and ESPN are praying Romo doesn't play after definitively declaring him out. The narrative is already being formed that the Cowboys better remember RGIII.

If MM/Rodgers were going to be coy, this would be the week to do it. Let the Bears guess as to who they'll have to face. But unless the Bores are idots, Im sure they are planning it'll be AR.

If the Bears read X4 they knew AR would be cleared yesterday.

Seriously, if info can get leaked to the likes of us dum dums, just imagine how much info must be leaked between teams. Even the groundskeepers from around the league must know each other.

In seven tries against Green Bay, Cutler has won just once. That game was the third week of the regular season in 2010. That same year, you may recall, Cutler infamously left the NFC Championship Game against the same Packers team due to a mysterious injury.

Green Bay beat Chicago on the road and eventually won the Super Bowl.

In two games since - Cutler missed the second of the two Packers games last season due to injury - the Chicago quarterback is 32-64 (50%), for 428 yards with 3 touchdowns, 6 interceptions, and has been sacked 10 times.

The meeting in Week 2 this season was one of Cutler's worst games as a pro, as he completed 40% of his passes, was intercepted four times and sacked on seven occasions. Green Bay won 23-10 and it wasn't even that close.

But this is nothing new to Jay Cutler and the Packers.

In his career as a Bear, Cutler is completing 53% of his passes against Green Bay, averaging just 6.4 yards per attempt and has 7 touchdowns against 16 interceptions

That was from a year ago at this time. We obviously know that Va Jay Jay couldn't play the 1st game this year. But having him play against GB could be every bit as vital as Rodgers playing...

While those Cutler stats are encouraging, let's not read too much into it. That was under a totally different regime. Trestman seems to have fixed what's ailed this Chicago offense for decades. I think they only trail Denver in PPG, and those WRs + Bennett + Forte will be a handful to cover, especially if we have no pass rush without CM III. Even with Rodgers, this is a 50-50 game...brace yourself for another high schoring, wild affair.

How does Vandermause know Cutler is benched?

One reason they are going to announce it Thursday instead of Friday could be that if AR takes all the reps with the first team on Thursday it will be obvious before Friday that he can play.

Let's not forget that the last time we played the Bears, they cut up our defense with ease. Remember, they held the ball for almost, what, 9 minutes in the fourth? Trestman totally outcoached Capers, and after Rodgers went out our offense didn't look so hot either. And the Bears were just embarassed on national TV so they will be looking for some redemption. And, it's two rivals going at each other with us knocking them out in the last game that really, really mattered (NFC champ).

So, even if Rodgers plays we still have some work to do to win this one. Just because 12 (hopefully, hoping against hope) walks onto the field doesn't mean the game is over by any stretch. But I like our chances a lot better with 12 than with 10.
