Re: RIP Jim Irwin
I actually like Eli better than his old brother. He has lived in the shadow of that big forehaid, and has to deal with New Yorkers. Peyton has to deal with hicks from Indiana (my apologies in advance to any natives of the hoosier state but its the truth) I have had to live in GPB1's shadow, but it was pretty small if you know what I mean. I can insult my brother and hoosers any time so I don't want to detract from Jim in this thread. One of my favorite calls was the one of Chris Jacke...

Oh yeah and AZ is the bastion for the sensible and the upper crust who just like to shoot Congresswomen. I think he was just kidding. Seems like an overreaction. .

Re: I quit! (And so can you!)
That was the same night that I quit ESPN, too. I will admit a wavered last night and watched the Badger/Hoosier, game. Unless it's live sports, no need for ESPN. Try these: www.cbssports.com www.mlb.com www.nfl.com I like Dan Patrick, too. Local sports talk shows are always, decent, too. I have some around me that do a good job with the local high school sports scenes.

Re: COLTS vs Bengals pre season tickets.
The etymology of hoosier is unknown, but it has been used since at least 1830. According to Bill Bryson, there are many suggestions for the derivation of the word, but none is universally accepted.[citation needed] Jacob Piatt Dunn, longtime secretary of the Indiana Historical Society, noted that "hoosier" was frequently used in many parts of the South in the 19th century for woodsmen or rough hill people. He traced the word back to "hoozer," from the Cumberland dialect of England. This...

Re: COLTS vs Bengals pre season tickets.
Interesting reading. Being a 3th-4th generation Hoosier not sure of the genealogy, as the family tree may have lost a couple limbs during the windstorm...1958??? Not sure on the date. My take on the orign of a Hoosier..... It when someone comes to the door after dark unexpected and Grandpa goes to answer the door. He gets the squirrel gun goes to the front door and yells out without opening the door "WHOOO"S THER!!!"????? Next time Hoosier Dialect 101. Words to be explored are WASH and...

Re: COLTS vs Bengals pre season tickets.
Its a bastardized form of the phrase "Who's yer" as in "Who's yer daddy ?" Apparently the early immigrants were quite promiscuous and adultery was rampant among the Indiana hill folks - as opposed to their neighbors to the west- the uber uptight and butt-ugly people of Illinois who nobody wanted to **** That's why in the end, the bears still suck...

Re: What were you most favorite/least favorite concerts?
The best concert I have ever been to was The Clash at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. Another great one at the same venue was Susan Tedeschi, Johnny Lang and Buddy Guy. At Alpine - Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Robert Cray and Buddy Guy. Night before Stevie died. Rolling Stones, George Thoroughgood at Sun Devil Stadium in 1981. Grateful Dead did a surprise show in Madison in the mid-80s between Alpine and Minneapolis. Played at Dane Co Coliseum. easily the best Dead show I've ever been to.
