IMO Dallas' hand gnashing over Murray/AP is a smoke screen in attempts to draft Melvin Gordon who is their very best play at RB behind that line for the next 4 years.

But that's giving Jerry a lot of credit.

Today is franchise tag day. 4:00pm EST deadline.

@AdamSchefter: Game of tag is underway: Chiefs officially placed their franchise tag on LB Justin Houston, per team source.

@AdamSchefter: Broncos will place their franchise tag of WR Demaryius Thomas before today's 4 ET deadline.

@AlbertBreer: Lions announce they will not place the franchise tag on Ndamukong Suh. Bc of old-system rookie deal and restructures, would've cost $26.89M.

@AdamSchefter: So unless Detroit re-signs Ndamukong Suh by next Tuesday, he is free to leave Lions for highest bidder...

At least the Lions do have some history, albeit, ancient...

I think they have actually won something, no?

The Vikings are just a wart on the humanity of pro football...

Maybe Herpes would be a better description?

I guess Chip Kelly still hasnt learned you need to play defense in the NFL to win something.  IMHO I think teams snap up players from more successful teams without looking at what they ummm have done.

Buckley on thanksgiving against Dallass still tops that

Ahmad Carroll's game on opening day in Detroit back in 2005 ranks #1a, Brad Jones in the opener last year is #1b. Dishonorable mention also goes to any of the seven games Allen Barbre (also a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, LOL) started in 2009 and Tyrone Williams on MNF against the Vikings in '98.

Don't forget the opening game performance by Jarrett Bush in 2013 against the 49ers.  Or maybe it was 2012.  Either way, Bush started one of those games and just got abused, being relegated from opening day starter to #4/5 CB after 1 game.  At least that's how I remember it.

I also understand that 59 was not the only guy on the roster, but it really really seemed that whenever he was on the field, bad things happened, now i'm not superstitious or whatever, but it really seemed to be a pattern. so long, all the best there fella.

Holy ****.

@AdamSchefter: Filed to ESPN: Bills have notified LB Kiko Alonso he is going to be traded to Philadelphia for RB LeSean McCoy. Trade official next week.

@richarddeitsch: Rex Ryan just got one hell of a snack.

Thinking about it, McCoy certainly slipped a bit last year. Plus there's this.

@adbrandt: Kiko Alonso has two years left on his contract at $746,000 and $942,000. LeSean McCoy has two years left on his contract at $6.9M and $7.6M.

EDIT: @adbrandt: Mentioned McCoy contract numbers of $6.9M and $7.6M, apologies, those are for 2016 and 2017.  For 2015, number is $10.25 million.

Alonso played for Kelly at Oregon, too, IIRC.

Alonso blew a knee out in 2010  at Oregon as well.

Personally I think Chip Kelly is going to leave Philly a smoldering pile when he jumps back into college football in a couple years. He's got final say on personnel now.

Seems like a terrible trade for the Bills.  They get an aging, overused RB at a high salary who likely wants an extension and give up a young 3 down linebacker making less than a million per year.  Unless they had concerns about his injury, no idea what they did this.

Bills have spent 3 first rounders on RBs since 2003 (McGahee, Lynch and Spiller) and had another stud RB in that time (Fred Jackson).  They are the prime example as to why spending high draft picks on runningbacks is a fruitless venture.
