How he fairs in Carolina will tell the story I think. There's no way you become more productive going from Aaron Rodgers to Cam Newton unless you were trying to fail.

You know, not everyone considers Green Bay the ultimate, ideal place to set down roots. I'm not saying this was the case or, if it was, that quitting was the proper response. I spent 2 weeks in a place for work once that I, had I'd been told I was being tranferred there, might have burned to the ground.
He is insecure and you can read it in his interviews. At first people thought he was just being humble and not taking anything for granted. But he didn't cope well with his demotion, pouted, sulked and was generally an Eor to be around. Instead of rising to the challenge, he went into a funk and TT said:
gotta get the funk out of GB
GB is an excellent location for a player who wants to be totally focused on his profession and work in a well paying, well run, organization.
Always liked Boykin and was a bit puzzled by his struggles last year. Best guess I have is that it was a crisis of confidence and hopefully the change of scenery will do him good. Continue to believe that he's a competent backup; he just needs to get his head on straight again.
For some reason I notice during this last TC & Preseason game time frame that Rodgers got to throw to Nelson and Cobb a lot, not so much to those on the lower end of the WR depth chart. AR never once threw to anyone below the projected starters in a preseason game this past year. And last year when Boykin had his success, it was after AR was hurt and the backups were throwing to him.
If I (as an owner (ha, ha)) have anything to say about it, AR would get one drive with the starters at WR, and 2 drives with the backups to get some game time familiarity with them before leaving a preseason game. I would love to have seen Janis give a defense something more to think about. He would be a total mismatch for defenses from the slot this past year. But I don't think AR or MM had any idea how to get him game time. That is what it looked like to me.
Boykin was an undrafted FA. Maybe he struggled because he's simply not that good. The majority of his playing time in 13 was after the injuries to Cobb and Jones. Being a featured guy he put up 620 yards and 3 TDs
Lot of speculation about the guys confidence. Maybe an UDFA watched GB take a talented WR in round 2, then Abby and then Janis and figured his time in GB was probably short lived and just bought his time until it was time to go someplace else. Ted needed a better long term answer after losing JJ so he went and got Adams. Smart move.
Yes, I agree. Smart move to pick up more options. But my main point remains - if your starting QB never throws to them in a preseason game - it doesn't get any easier once the games count. Then the backup WRs turn into the equivalent of hood ornaments on your team.
If Janis showed MM during practice he had no choice but to get him playing time in games, he'd get more playing time.
Janis isn't playing because he's not a good enough option to earn a spot on the active list. Not because MM is incapable of seeing his greatness.

But to make a career in the NFL? I'd stomach a lot.
You're all over the place. First he possibly quit on the team? Now he doesn't understand the offense?
Maybe it took an off-season of defensive coordinators to watch film and figure he is a one dimensional wideout.
Boykin, he would never have made the team this year. Last year there were a bunch of stories that the Packers really soured on him.
#Packers and Letroy Guion have reached an agreement on a 1-year deal, per a source. Expected to be signed by tomorrow.

Good to have him back.
GD - Guion is a 1yr deal, and Raji it seems would likely get a similar deal. Even then, if either has a pro-bowl type year neither would be in the age (28 & 29 going into next off-season) where the Packers would commit longer term. I think a NT is in the plans before OTAs start. Pennel could make the jump, but we wouldn't see that until the fall so depth in the spring (with an eye on the future) will be added I expect.
Don't we have a stud 3rd rd guy from last year too?
Is Guion still facing a possible NFL suspension? If so, I would guess maybe 1 or 2 games and definitely no more than 4 games? Glad he's back.
From Demovsky this morning:
The Packers have offered Raji a one-year contract worth less than $2 million, according to a source familiar with the negotiations. Last year, Raji returned to the Packers on a one-year, $4 million contract.
Hope there's a bit more to the story (like incentives), because that sure appears like the Packers are low-balling Raji.
I think they can (low ball) since it seems no other team is interested.
Don't we have a stud 3rd rd guy from last year too?
@TomSilverstein: Have confirmed @RobDemovsky report about Letroy Guion on a one-year deal. At one point, #Packers were offering $1.3M but it came in higher.
JSO is reporting Raji is signed too, citing NFL Network.
ESPN.com first reported Guion's agreement with the Packers.
Later Monday morning, NFL Network reported that nose tackle B.J. Raji had agreed to a one-year deal with the Packers.
Wow. Must include every incentive under the sun. Plus agent spin.
@caplannfl: Letroy Guion's one-year deal with the #Packers is worth $2.75 M, per league source.
F****.q John Schneider.
Schneider was just using LeTroy for leverage to sign DL Dobbs, and Guion was using Seattle to squeeze the Packers. Its just bizness
Hmmm.
@spolympicsrock: ...I heard 1.5 for Guion and 2 for Raji.
@TomSilverstein: I'm hearing $3M for each, but that's not confirmed.

Nothing personal....Just bidness.
I assure you though, Seattle & Schneider would've loved to have Guion cheaply. Seattle is in trouble on the O-Line & D-Line
All sorts of numbers floating around in cyberspace for both and hard to know what to believe. Time will sort it out and my guess would be Raji's is very heavy on incentives given his injury.
I believe whatever Mort tells me. What does Mort think?
Mort thinks you're a dipschit.
I agree with Mort
Don't we have a stud 3rd rd guy from last year too?
Give it about 4 years.
