Adrian Peterson is scheduled to make $13 million this year, hmmmmmm......
(I think it's more like $15 million, but that doesn't line up as nicely)

Romo restructure just allows Dallas to sign draft picks. They had under $2 million available after bringing McClain back.
But sweet baby jeebuz what is his cap number going to look like in 2016?!?!?
I just love seeing NFC teams like the Cowboys and Saints having to restructure contracts (ie: mortgage the future) just to be able to sign draft picks. Restructuring is just one big house of cards and when it finally falls down, it's going to be glorious.
Totally agree but at least Spikes is proven in run support, which wasn't exactly a strength of this team last year. You get Spikes and Barrington, at least you know you're set there. But yeah, they'd really have to focus on getting a coverage ILB. I just don't want to go into the draft with only Barrington at ILB. Kind of paints TT into a corner, knowing he has to come out of the draft with a starting caliber ILB.
I'm still hopeful they try Richardson in that coverage ILB role. Especially on obvious passing downs, I just don't see a need to put a Brad Jones type on the field on 3rd and 13. Put Richardson in the shallow middle instead.

We piss and moan about the soft middle but you can exploit the middle on almost all teams. We can certainly improve that area of the D but it will never be bullet proof. It's a matter of improvement, not solution.
Satori raised an interesting point about the effect smaller faster DL had on the guys behind them. I think Richardson has been slotted in there as a cover ILB on several occasions. But those are on obvious passing downs and Dom really needs a second 3 down ILB to keep the other guys guessing. I don't think you want to use Clay there as much as they did toward the end of last season.
His sisters place?
Am hearing the Jets have signed Jamari Lattimore
Confirmed.
http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/...98365831.html
Green Bay - Linebacker Jamari Lattimore, a key member of the Packers special teams units and off and on starter, has agreed to terms on a free agent contract with the New York Jets, his agent said.
Tony Agnone said that Lattimore felt his time in Green Bay was special and released a statement from the linebacker.
âI want to thank Ted (Thompson), Russ (Ball), Coach Mike (McCarthy), my LB and Special Teams coaches, Dr Pat (McKenzie), Pepper (Burruss) and all the staff as well as my teammates for a fantastic four years," Lattimore said in the statement. "I will always cherish my time in Packerland both on and off the field. The fans are GREAT and I will miss them.
"I also want to thank John Dorsey and Reggie McKenzie for picking me up from college and helping me grow as an individual. I wish them all the best of luck in all endeavors including the upcoming season. I will be rooting for them except against the JETS.
"God Bless all.â ...
Could be looking at two 4's and a 6th round comp next year.
Sweet.
Good riddance. The concept of addition by subtraction has gone into overdrive when it comes to ILB for the Packers.
It's funny. Every time I read "...was a key member of the Green Bay special teams..." after the Seattle debacle. I just want to put a fist through a wall.
With the off-season exodus of the ILBs from last season we may see more of the Peppers-CM3-Perry-Neal combo on the field in 2015.
Contract years for Perry and Neal. I have no issue seeing plenty of them on the field this year. Assuming both can stay somewhat healthy.
How bout them Cowboys.
@adbrandt: Romo's latest restructure gives him highest potential "dead money" in NFL history. Amount to accelerate if a separation: $46 million.

That's seems like a smart move given the guy is about to turn 35 and has chronic back problems.
It wasn't two weeks ago Dallas was being lauded for cap responsibility when they let Murray walk.
Not a lot of chatter on the responsibility front today.
Last week Romo said he would've restructured if it meant they could've kept Murray. Day late and $13mm short?
Dallas never wanted to keep Murray in the first place, they ran him into the ground last season knowing he was gone. Jerruh wants Peterson
Romo is completely uncutable and untradable for the next four years.
How bad is this contract? If Dallas cuts Romo just prior to the 2018 season they will be on the hook for $9.0 in dead money. Tony turns 35 in 3 weeks.
Amazing
Good for Tony. I would like to see Jerry unload his wallet for nothing.
Everything's bigger in Texas.
Murray may have more left than Peterson.
Petersons kids think daddy has plenty of tread left on the steel belted radials.
Those aren't the kinds of belts the Peterson kids are thinking about.

Just wait until another restructure next year.
If AP is forced to play in Minny this year I'd like to tell his kids to wear two pairs of jeans at all times. Never go commando, even in the bathtub. Long sleeved t-shirts. Finish your hot dish. And clear the yard of all loose and easily accessible brush on a regular basis.
AP really is the worst kind of dick.
Cowboys kicking a 55 gallon drum down the road.

Dallas only has 6 draft picks, and they'd at least have to trade their 1st round pick to get Peterson. You don't need $14.2 million in cap space to sign 5 (maybe even fewer) draft picks. This move is about Peterson. Jerry badly wants to get back to the "glory hole", and they're going to sacrifice everything to get there next season. I really hope I'm wrong, because Peterson in Dallas is much worse than having him stay in Minnesota.
Minnesota won't get a 1 for Peterson, they'll probably be lucky to get a 4th rounder.

Comparing his time in Green Bay to the Fantastic Four is pretty powerful stuff.

Hate both these teams, but it would be an odd poetic justice if the Vikings traded an aging running back to the Cowboys for a bunch of picks and it turned out he was not worth it. I don't see it happening, but somewhere in a conference call Spielman is saying, "Come on man. You owe us."
Peterson is a great RB when he has the ball. Murray is a better receiver.
The thing about Peterson is that some statistical metrics have rated him among the worst pass protectors in the NFL. Peterson is a good fit for an offense with a game manager type QB, because Peterson needs a high volume of carries to be effective. He'd be a good fit for Seattle, the 49ers of last year, Jets, Bills, Dolphins. He's a poor fit when you have a good QB and WRs (Romo, Witten, Bryant).
If the Cowboys lose a couple of games where Peterson carries the ball 30 times and Dez Bryant's stats go down, there might be some locker room tension. He also might singlehandedly accelerate Romo's cap charge if they put him in pass protection too much.
John Fox talked about Romo/Murray at the owners meeting and said he noted how they limited the exposure to bad-romo by having a solid running game. He suggested he wanted to do the same thing with Cutler - build a strong running game and lean on it to limit the exposure to the inevitable brain-farts from Jay. That's how you handle a flawed QB, have him handoff
Peterson is dumb as a post and he can't handle the mental part of pass pro- often he goes to the sidelines on 3rd and long.
I usually don't like to denigrate a person's intelligence but with AP this can't be stated often enough: Peterson is dumb as a post.
it's become quite obvious.... "I'm gonna ride a camel for my birthday!" orange peanut indeed.
