From Demovsky today, in a Q&A:

Demovsky: The release of Brad Jones likely was just the beginning of their overhaul at inside linebacker. When Mike McCarthy stands up at the combine and in so many words admits that inside linebacker is their biggest need, you know some major changes are in the works. As for A.J. Hawk, perhaps the fact that he was playing hurt will factor into their evaluation of him. The Packers can't cut Hawk right now, not without being able to pass a physical, which is probably unlikely considering he had surgery less than a month ago.

Hawkya not so dum.

@Rand_Getlin: Sources: The #Bills are pursuing a trade for #Rams QB Sam Bradford. http://t.co/afNxdOGNKn

EDIT: This, from a Buffalo beat writer, in response (it is silly season after all):

@viccarucci: Hearing the #Bills are not pursuing #Rams QB Sam Bradford, as being reported, from a source in the know.

Dwayne Bowe is another interesting player.  He could be a pretty decent fit if Cobb leaves.  He'll turn 31 early next season and the 0 TDs in 2014 hangs over him, two things that will push his pricetag down (potentially WAY down).  I'd say he's closer to a #3 receiver than a #2 at this point but I still see him as a nice insurance policy.  He obviously has that experience in an Andy Reid offense which helps.  Would be a nice player to have if Adams suffers a sophomore slump or if Nelson or Adams gets hurt.

Bowe's numbers in 2014 = 15 games, 60 catches, 754 yards, 0 touchdowns

Bowe's average season from 2012-2014 = 14 games, 59 catches, 743 yards, 3 touchdowns

The other name that is starting to get thrown around as a possible cap cut is inside backer Paul Posluszny.  The Jags are just so far under the cap that I think they'll end up keeping him, but I'd love to see this guy in the green and gold.  There is a pretty decent sized risk involved as he suffered a torn pectoral last year and ended the year on IR.  However, he should be ready for full football workouts starting March/April.  The guy was injury prone early in his career, but only missed one game from 2011-2014 before he messed up the pectoral last year.  Posluszny + draft pick + Barrington with Matthews as a candidate if things go wrong...that wouldn't look bad at all.  Here are the recent stats:

2014 = 7 games, 69 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 pass breakup

2011-2013 average season = 16 games, 140 tackles, 2 sacks, 8 pass breakups, 2 interceptions, 1 forced fumble

Oh yes. Such a lovely time of year for these kinds of rumors. Speaking of...

Percy Harvin Rumors: Green Bay Packers Interested?

According to Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk, the Packers and Chargers are two teams that could make a run at Percy Harvin if he’s let go by the New York Jets this offseason.

If the Jets and Harvin can’t reach a deal, watch these three teams closely:  the Chargers, Packers, and Patriots.  With any of those, Harvin could do a one-year deal, partner with one of the best quarterbacks in the game, have a huge year, chase a championship, and set himself up for a bigger contract in 2016.

If the Packers can get their hands on Harvin, that could be deadly but we don’t know which type of deadly. Either Aaron Rodgers is going to turn him way around and make him into the player he was starting to look like when Brett Favre was throwing him the ball in 2009, or he’s going to be poisonous to the Packers locker room.

Cobb will be 25 in August. He could sign with GB @ $9-$10mm average on a 4 year deal and still cash in one more time before turning 30. While I can see OAK being interested in him I don't see McKenzie over-paying on Cobb regardless of how much cap space they have. The Raiders have a lot of holes to fill.

I thought we already discussed this?  Leopards' spots will change when it rains if they use cheap paint.

As far as Cobb to OAK goes, they'd have to give him a bigger deal than Wallace got from Miami to even be considered, IMHO, and as H5 said it'd be a shock to see anyone give him upwards of $15M/year.

Problem with Oaklands cap space is that they could give Cobb $50m over 5 years, with $20m of that hitting the cap this year.  That way, the last 4 years of the deal only have $30m.  Taking that cap hit in year 1 would be very smart b/c while the Raiders know they overpayed, the last 4 years are very reasonable.  And if the Raiders have $50m+ in cap room in 2015, makes sense to sign 2-3 big time young players and push that cap hit into 2015, that way they have flexibility in the future (as opposed to what they did last year, signing aging veterans).

The Packers wouldnt be able to offer that same deal without having serious future ramifications (like $12m cap hits in the late years).

I guess it just depends does he want to get paid pretty well and continue to produce, win and play with an MVP, or does he want a ton of money but be stuck with a mess like Oakland?

And the Raiders can't offer him the same chance at glory, the only thing they have is mo' money. Cobb will be a Packer, his agent just needs to save face and appear to squeeze every penny he can from the tightwad

Commie.  As a patriot and a capitalist, I denounce your awful comment.

Have you not experienced the wonder of shrimp for $5/pound?  Oh sure, Mr. Fancy Pants, if you want to waste your money on some awful Mom-n-Pop, or worse, ORGANIC store you go right ahead.  I am a believer in freedom.

I think we've all read and heard about how hard it is to keep the BS this clown pulls off the field out of the media.  Eventually it's going to catch up to him.  Now you begin to perhaps see why even Jerruh did not want to give him big money if this story is actually true and it blows the lid off of something.

A Dez / Wal Mart video that's 5 times worse than Ray Rice might be nothing more than Dez ordering one of those week old swollen dog's off the sweaty rolling heat tray from the Wal Mart bistro.

Let's be honest, watching someone order one of those would be tough to watch. If Punching Ray taught us anything it's that we should wait to see the tape... or not.

Would Jerruh stoop low enough to fabricate something like this?

A whole lot of "we have not seen the video, but..."

I call BS and that it is some sort of attempt by the Cokeboys to get Dez to sign...

Or,

I am an idiot...

Yeah, I know, option two appeals to me as being more likely as well...

Normally I'd agree with the more likely there, but Dez seems like the type of hothead who'd blow up and punch someone over a bloated foot-long.

Coagulated cheese-like product being the tipping point.

I call BS because he is a known sports star. If he punched me over that he would have been arrested and charged with assault by now.. at least I would think so....

Why were the police not alerted to this assault?

Or were they?

I admit that I stopped reading when it became clear that no one had seen the film, but Dez must be guilty shtick....

I am probably wrong, but I still call BS

OK,serious question.  How big of a liability is age when it comes to getting laid?  Really,  I can get pussy of that quality,  and I am neither a billionaire nor white.  WTF, Jerry.

Dude,  it's a fukking foot long.  Mess with my foot-long and a mofo is going down.  BTW, foot long isn't some kind of euphemistic description for a black penis, is it?

BTW, is it bad that I am broke down the tape up,at 2pm on a Wednesday?  I have the day off.
