Mess...

In a lengthy post that was shared this Tuesday morning, Smith explained why he wants out.

Smith, a former first-round pick out of Georgia, has lost trust in Chicago's new front office regime. He believes they don't value him as much as they should.

"Unfortunately, the new front office regime doesn't value me here. They've refused to negotiate in good faith, every step of this journey has been "take it or leave it." The deal sent to me is one that would be bad for myself, and for the entire LB market if I signed it," Smith wrote. "I've been trying to get something done that's fair since April, but their focus has been on trying to take advantage of me."

Smith continued: "I wanted to be a Bear for my entire career, help this team bring a Super Bowl back to our city. However, they have left me no choice than to request a trade that allows me to play for an organization that truly values what I bring to the table."

Smith, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract, had 163 combined tackles, three sacks and an interception in 2021.

At 25 years old, Smith is considered one of the best linebackers in the NFL. He has been named an All-Pro in each of the past two seasons.

If Smith is available via trade, there should be plenty of teams interested in acquiring him.

Breaking: All-Pro Linebacker Has Requested A Trade (msn.com)

The grass at Soldier Field is in rough shape today, just an hour before the Bears’ preseason opener against the Chiefs.

Pictures on social media show the grass with divots and pockmarks, with the field in the kind of condition that often leads players to complain β€” and sometimes leads to injuries.

Bears kicker Cairo Santos raised the issue of the grass this week, saying after the team practiced at Soldier Field that bad footing was one of the things he routinely has to prepare for because of the poor quality grass.

The Bears are planning to leave Soldier Field and move to the suburbs, where they’ll build their own stadium that likely will have an artificial surface. The grass isn’t the primary reason the Bears are leaving, but it’s among the many issues the Bears have with the city-owned Soldier Field.

The Bears are being ripped on radio/media today for having no clue WTF they are doing. They signed 6!! players off of waivers they plan to place on the 53 and may cut day 2 picks from 2022 draft.

Train wreck and tells you their personnel dept has no clue... Gotta feel for Justin Fields.  Soon to be Mitch Tribisky 2.0

The Chicago Bears claimed six players off of waivers today so there will be  changes to their 53-man roster announced soon.

Here are the new Bears:

  • OL Alex Leatherwood
  • TE Trevin Wesco
  • DT Armani Watts
  • DE Kingsley Johnathan
  • LB Sterling Weatherford
  • DB Josh Blackwell

I wouldn’t write of Josh Fields just yet given the hot mess he was thrown into, ie - their HC, OL, playcalling, injuries, and general franchise ineptitude.

It could be scapegoating but everyone seems to think Nagy was a lot worse that he seemed now that he's gone and some players have been making comments about how things were under him as HC.  I wouldn't write Fields off just yet either.  He has a good staff working with him now too.

As much as it'll suck to have another domed team in the division, it does make sense.   As the article mentions, the dome would allow them to host Super Bowls (short trip for Packer fans), NCAA Final Fours, etc. - would raise some serious money for their new development and surrounding area.

All division home games after October would become a huge advantage for the Pack if this happens.
