I think it's worth mentioning that Trent Baalke tried to give Kaep away before last season. Denver offered to cover $7 million of Kaep's $11.9 million deal if SF agreed to cover the rest. Baalke wanted nothing to do with it. The Jets kicked Kaep's tire for a week then dropped out. For the most part though no one showed any serious interest.

This all took place before Kaep began protesting things.

He'll land somewhere eventually. He's just not a great QB.

I don't want to go into politics, but how do these type of guys keep getting signed without Kaepernick getting signed?

If I'm the Packers I'd much rather face Glennon or Sanchez twice a year than Kaepernick.

Kaepernick played for a lousy team last year and threw 16 TDs against 4 interceptions. He's not a star QB, but he's much better than a lot of the guys that have been signed.

It's a sad commentary that a player is probably better off beating his girlfriend (Greg Hardy, etc.) or someone otherwise committing a felony than silently protesting. These guys have a right to their own opinions whatever their beliefs are and I'd rather have a guy stand for something on principle (whether I agree with him or not) than a felon.

Because politics and the GMs/owners are ****ing cowards.

I feel psychotic, but I just read up on what Kap did last year, and I've changed my mind.  There is a lot of natural G&G blood animosity there for him, but it's about winning games and Super Bowls right?  Screw politics.  The guy's an athlete who could provide great backup for the team.  Bring him in, let MM work with him, see what the heck happens.  If it helps the GBP, what's to lose?  And don't tell me image.  Success cleans and polishes all that crap up.

If it would work out, trade him for a high draft pick next year.

Unless Kap considers himself a starter this year, then I got nothing.

I agree he's not great, but he is better than a lot of guys starting in the league next year.

I wouldn't have problem bringing him to GB if he wasn't going to turn 30 during the season. Considering the fact that he's taken a lot of physical abuse as a power running QB in college and in the NFL I think his career is closer to the end than the beginning. If we're going to take the time to break down a talented running QB and mold him in to a better passer then we could stick with Hundley or take a guy like Josh Dobbs in the mid-rounds. Both are younger, cheaper, and just as talented at this point.

Gotta admit, Harbaugh had Kaeperdink playing like a top QB. The air was let out of Kaeps career the moment Harbaugh left for Michigan.

This just adds to my belief that it takes the "marriage" of a coach, a system, and a specific QB to make a top NFL offense, and hence a top NFL QB work.  Highly adaptable coaches are few and far between.  Assuming they have all the tools, QBs that can transcend a system are rare - meaning perform well in any system.  I would be drafting QBs who have the tools to play in and have thrived in a system similar to the one the team I am coaching would like to play in, and who seems to be a best fit to be able to work with the coaches from a personality standpoint.  Then once you got the guy, make sure he has the guys around him to make the offense go.

Harbaugh knew how to make Kap work.  The coaches that replaced him do not.  And Kap is system (or scheme) dependent.  Kaps downfall as a player has been a combination of things IMO.

Joe Staley. Mike Iupati. Jonathan Goodwin. Alex Boone. Anthony Davis. Frank Gore. Jim Harbaugh.

Kaep wasn't a system QB. He played behind the best OL in football with a physical back and a coach that wanted his OL to maul you for 60 minutes until you simply bled out. That Kaep could execute the read option and Harbaugh was smart enough to know when to unleash it made him go.

Didnt hurt that SF had five legitimate pro bowlers on defense. I still don't understand how those teams didn't win a SB. Harbaugh cut Alex Smith loose and chose Kaep. Kaep may very well have been the link in that chain that was the weakest.

Say what you want about Kaepernick and his politics and that he's now probably paying for them by not having a job, but also remember the man is keeping his word to donate $1 million in ten months to local organizations around the U.S. by dishing out money each month. In October it was Urban Underground in Milwaukee (an organization that helps kids) getting $25,000, plus other organizations getting the same amount. Just a few days ago it was Meals on Wheels getting $50,000.

And yes, I'm not naive and I realize he's doing it in part to try to get back in the good graces of fans, owners, etc., but he is putting his money where his mouth is. Many athletes just attach their name or just try to help raise funds, but I believe Kaepernick gives his own money. Yes, there are many athletes who donate without the fanfare. But it's sad that so many athletes are afraid to take a public stand today.

Politics aside, I'm not sure I can recall a guy that went from elite status to out of a job and possibly a career so quickly as Kaepernick.

Maybe it was fools gold to begin with or just the Niners were that damn good but the playoff beat down they gave us (where he rushed for like 200 yards) is still a kick in the nuts.  It's even worse now when you consider the Packers basically put him on the map with their crappy defensive performance.  Thanks Dom!!

Look. Kristin Cavallari took a picture of her husbands bear ass while they were on vacation. It's exactly what you would expect Jay Cutlers bear ass would look like in a vacation picture and exactly how you would expect Jay Cutler to pose for a vacation picture of his bear ass. I was going to post it. But I can't. It's pathetic. It's just incredibly Jay Cutler.

Dont look it up. Look it up. Whatever. Consider this a PSA that it's out there everywhere and that it's such a vintage Jay Cutler thing.

Interesting Facts about Tonto:

Tonto's horse is named "Scout."   He's a spotted palamino or "paint."

Originally, Tonto rode double with the Lone Ranger on Silver. After a publicity photo was taken of the Lone Ranger and Tonto this way, WXYZ wisely decided to give Tonto his own steed.

Now that would be an interesting picture.  Did he ride side-saddle?   Hmm.....maybe "Kemo Sabe" means something else in the Potawatomi nation.
