And Sam Shields has just signed with the Rams.
Not good for the NFL. Keep in mind Shields last concussion for the Packers wasn't even that bad of a hit. Wishing the best for Shields, but him actively seizing on the field or drooling in a wheelchair by the time he's 35 isn't the look the league should be going for.
Ladies and Gents, Mo Wilkerson has left the building.
Visiting the Saints and Chiefs next.
Re: Shields - I don't believe his concussion was as bad as it is being made out to be. There were other factors involved.
BPS is happy - Guess there is no shot for Wilkerson now

My son suffered a concussion in early September, he is still suffering greatly from post-concussion syndrome and might have to drop the semester at school. I can easily believe that it was as bad as it was made out to be.

Sign the contract, Mo! The packers need a malcontent, my sleep is more important than meetings, piece of crap like you!

We'll categorize this one under sarcasm.
Come to think of it, that gives me a great sports marketing idea. Cheez Wiz Rub for skeletal injuries! You could package it with Jesus Water and make a killin'!
Million dollar ideas people!
Hmmm, maybe Jaymo Protein Shakes? Needs work.
Ellen is hilarious.

Nope, wrong. Ted Thompson never signed anyone because his star QB demands it. That's actually part of the story how you ended up with Brett Favre playing for the Vikings. Brett threw a fit when Ted was outbid by New England for Randy Moss before the 2007 draft, and then threw another fit and "retired" less than 24 hours after Moss re-signed with New England the next offseason. If Brett would have gotten his way, he probably would have finished his career with the Packers. He only "retired" because Ted wasn't willing to break the bank and mortgage the future to get him another Super Bowl ring.
What precisely constitutes "breaking the bank" and "mortgaging the future" as far as you are concerned?
Take a look at Moss's numbers at New England. Did TT ever F that up. One of his worst decisions ever.
Yeah, not the point.
The Rams now have Aqib Talib, Marcus Peters, and Stan Shields.
Broncos clearing some cap space for a certain QB?
Case Osweiler?

Is that any good?
All I have is a twelver of Grain Belt.
Hard to believe Wilkerson didn't sign with the Pack right then and there. All world QB, Storied Franchise, the history and lore, a chance to play on Hallowed Grounds Of Hallowness.
Did they wine and dine him with crock pot wieners at the Appleton VFW or something?
Broncos were always moving on from Talib. They're already paying Harris and Roby $19m combined this year, so no way they were going to pay 3 CBs $30m+. Plus, Talib is not a good teammate on a bad team. Not an issue on a good team, but lot of negative incidents with him the last 2 years.
Rams are going for it all this year. Smart when you realize that they really only have 2 more years of Goff on the cheap until he gets his massive extension. When that happens, they can blow it all up and rebuild the team around their $30m QB. We'll see if it works.

Probably Applebees.

Talib and Peters on the same team? Yikes! What could go wrong with that?

Talib will rip chains off necks, and give them to Peters to throw in the stands.
DeMarco Murray, released.
Lombardi on when to get rid of a player.

By his definition, some of our guys should be cut. But from the examples in the article, he was always carful about where they would end up. What the article doesn't say is that there were some players he felt he had to have to win. Finding replacements for them was going to be tougher. Interesting read.
Cap update:
Packers are, as of today, $19.7M under the cap. They can easily get to over $30M by simply doing what just about every team in the league is doing this week - restructuring and/or releasing players with bad contracts.

Richard Sherman has been released.
I'm sure it's happening behind closed doors...

I think one of the attractions of the GBP is the fact that they seldom release a player before the end of a contract even when they (in my opinion) get paid too much. Sure there are some exceptions but those are for really bad players or the ones badly injured. There is loyalty involved with this team. Almost to a fault.
I agree with the "to a fault" part.
We do what we do. Even if it's dumb.
See Capers, Dom.

He'll end up on Pats. Have a super year, they'll win the SB. He'll move on and fall off a cliff.
Tyrod and jarvis on the Browns!
They still need a QB.
Richard Sherman is 29. Charles Woodson signed as a FA with the Pack at age 30.
Sorry, Sherman is not even close to Woodson
and now Randall is a Brown...... this is NOT good.
He's a Brown. A bit surprised with that move.
And another trade for Browns: Packers have informed CB Damarious Randall that he is being traded to Cleveland (like everybody else), per source.

Yup....I fixed my post. Sorry.
Did they announce the terms of the trade yet?!? Maybe Joe Thomas is finally on his way!!
Rams vs Cleveland in the off-season Super Bowl.
Ok so we just traded one of our top CB's . Now what ?
No Joe Thomas....
Hearing expectation is #Packers will receive a late-round draft pick for cornerback Damarious Randall, who they traded Friday to the Cleveland Browns. So Gutekunst's first major transaction as GM is to force a makeover at CB.

Source: The #Packers have traded for QB DeShone Kizer. From the #Browns to Green Bay.

Sending a message to Hundley...
“You better get your **** in order or we’ll trade you off to Cleveland.”
The Browns the new 1980’s Packers??? They are going to dominate the 2020’s and 2030’s.
